The Stock Check – Gameweek 24 – Sunday

Gabriel Jesus is in the goals again as Sergio Aguero gets accustomed to life on the Manchester City bench. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s renaissance under Paul Clement continues, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan delivers his biggest haul of the season as both Manchester clubs impress ahead of their looming blank Gameweek.

Gabriel Jesus
Retaining his role as City’s central forward at home to Swansea City, the Brazilian required just over 10 minutes to find the net once again.

Subject to more acquisitions than any other Fantasy Premier League asset ahead of Gameweek 24 after his midweek goal and assist at West Ham, Jesus also went on to grab a late winner in another superb showing. He’s now set for a collision with a Bournemouth defence that’s just been hit for six at Goodison Park.

Already, over 48,000 FPL managers have swooped for the Samba starlet since yesterday’s deadline, yet a blank Gameweek 26 and another likely in Gameweek 28 will surely slow the bandwagon, despite a favourable trip to Sunderland sandwiched between those fixtures.

Nonetheless, Guardiola’s teamsheet certainly indicated that the new arrival has barged his way into the first XI, ensuring there will be huge interest in his services once the double Gameweeks scheduled.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan
A goal and assist at the King Power Stadium helped the Armenian to a first double-figure haul of the season as his influence on United’s attack continues to grow.

After drawing blanks in his first six appearances over the opening 14 Gameweeks, Mkhitaryan now has three goals and an assist in his subsequent eight league outings.

Similar to Manchester City, though, United’s lack of a Gameweek 26 fixture, allied with the fact that they would also miss Gameweek 28 if they progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals, quashes their immediate appeal.

With a mere 2% FPL ownership, Mkhitaryan is clearly shaping up as an enticing differential option for our five-man midfields once those blanks have been navigated.

Antonio Valencia
The right-back is another who’ll surely find his way into many managers’ plans once the double Gameweeks are confirmed.

After failing to produce any attacking returns in the opening 20 rounds of fixtures, Valencia has since supplied an assist in two of the last four Gameweeks.

With Jose Mourinho shuffling his options elsewhere in defence, the Ecuadorian appears to be the most secure route into a rearguard that has now served up three clean sheets in the last five, conceding just two goals over that spell.

Gylfi Sigurdsson
Swansea’s playmaker goes from strength to strength under new manager Paul Clement.

Bagging the consolation in today’s narrow loss at City, Sigurdsson has now racked up three goals and two assists in the five matches since Bob Bradley departed the Liberty Stadium.

That resurgent form has helped him climb into fifth spot in the FPL midfield standings as the Welsh side prepare for a superb run of upcoming fixtures.

Clashes with Leicester City, Burnley, Hull City, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough in the next six, added to the fact that Swansea are one of only six clubs currently set to play in both Gameweek 26 and 28, have already brought plenty of new owners Sigurdsson’s way.

Among FPL midfielders, only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has earned more transfers since the passing of yesterday’s deadline.

Luciano Narsingh
The Swansea new boy came off the bench to impress once again, strengthening his claim for a starting role at home to Leicester next time out.

Utilised as a late substitute for the second successive Gameweek, Narsingh has now provided assists in both his appearances for the to suggest there is more than just Sigurdsson to consider among Clement’s charges.

If he can cement a role in the first XI next weekend, a price of 5.5 may well turn a few heads as we look for budget-friendly methods to navigate the tricky fixture schedule.

In Decline

Sergio Aguero
After benching him against West Ham, Pep Guardiola was quick to point out that the Argentine could easily play alongside Gabriel Jesus in his front three.

With a home clash against Swansea up next, the vast majority of Aguero’s 19% FPL owners subsequently kept the faith – he was subject to just 39,450 sales ahead of Gameweek 24.

Yet Pep named Aguero among the substitutes once again, affording him just a handful of minutes off the bench as City went chasing a late winner.

Priced at 12.8 and without a fixture in Gameweek 26, the Aguero exodus is well and truly up and running as Jesus’ impact puts pay to his “essential” tag once and for all.

I hate taking a hit for a defender but I might get Coleman in for Ake for minus 4
The rest of the defence is Dann brunt Alonso Jones

    Thoughts?

Having watched Leicester try to defend yesterday, I think Siggy could deliver this week again. Coupled with the fact that I think Arsenal will struggle to break down Hull, I think that two Arsenal mids is overkill. I'd urge you to make the move this week!

I think the BBC pundits are terrible. I have just read an article with Hamann implying that Klopp isn't good enough. They have hammered it this season with a very average squad and no depth. They have had a bad month. He compares points per game with Rodgers and says he is no better but Rodgers had Suarez and a fit Sturridge whereas Klopp has Milner as right back. Phil Neville is another bad one too. Sky are much better in terms of the pundits.

    1. Henry Hill

Well.... Klopp clearly inherited a squad worse than Hull and 3 transfer windows are nowhere near enough time to get them up to a level capable of beating such a formidable side.

United supporter? They aren't in form and are low in confidence. That doesn't mean the manager is rubbish etc. Hull have a new manager and the players are fighting for survival, they aren't going to be the whipping boys they were in the first half of the season.

          No i'm not.
The wheels are falling off for Klopp, I think a bit more time on the training ground is needed than appearing in ads on TV all over the place. These bang average players have been found out.

So after captaining Aguero this week, he has to go. I have already lost value on him as I didn't want to make a kneejerk decision and wanted to wait until I wasn't so annoyed about my 2nd consecutive bad week. The problem is I don't know for now. Ibra and Anichebe are my other two strikers. I was thinking Kane but he was terrible last game. Lukaku maybe? I fancy Jesus but with 2 blanks upcoming, I don't think that will be a good transfer just yet.

    1. Henry Hill

      Lukaku for sure.
I was bitterly disappointed with Kun not starting yesterday but stubbornly will give him one more week vs a dreadful Bournemouth and just hope he starts, I understand that you are probably don't agree with that.

Hmmmm I may do the same thing. I could save the FT and do 2 after the break. The worry is that other strikers will go up in that time and I will lose yet more cash. As it stands, I can afford Jesus, Lukaku and Ibra as a front 3 if I downgrade Grant to Jaku (unless he also goes up)

Those with Ibra+Sanchez and at most 1 more for the GW26 blank. What is the plan?
    A) Just bench and let McAuley, Phillips or someone do the job that week.
    B) Keep at most 1 heavy hitter
    C) Drop them all and worry later about getting them back, maybe just with WC before DGW.

Sadly he looked bad vs Che, has bad run of fixtures and has no set pieces.
Ibra got pens and Bournemouth home (worst def atm) in gw 27, so he is the best captain choice of all.

It may sound blasphemous to many, but Sanchez is part of the problem at Arsenal. Running around a lot doesn't excuse his dreadful attitude, and the way he throws his toys out of the pram every time he doesn't get the ball must be having an effect on his teammates. He's not nearly good enough to justify it.

I think this may be the year they miss out on the top 4, and they'd be well served to clear out Alexis and Ozil and start again.

I don't think that's true. I think they could use Giroud and Welbeck up front, with Theo, Ox and Iwobi rotating the wing spots, and they'd be fine.

Sanchez is a great fantasy footballer, but he's not Luis Suarez in real life.

obviously he improves it. But I'm not sure he improves it enough to justify the constant tantrums when he gets subbed/snubbed in any way. He is not Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates aren't Portugal.

A- Already got rid of him during the weekend - for who?

B- Will get rid before next GW - two blanks in 4 GWs, and his price is dropping fast while Lukaku's rising.

C- Keeping for now (Watford at home next is not a bad fixture!), but getting rid before GW 26 for sure

D- Keeping for now but getting rid before GW 26 EXCEPT if United gets knocked out of the Cup (because Bournemouth at Old Trafford in 27 is too tempting and he would have just 1 blank GW)

E- Keeping through the storm, will bench him in 26 and in 28 if needed

With a defence of PVA Brunt Baines Pieters and Friend.

Is a -4 worth it to get Alonso this week? Can't see Burnley scoring but it's whether any of those 3 can keep clean sheets?!

At most you'd only get 2 points.

        Not a bad move though.

What are you doing with Ibra?

Him and Aguero will become Lukaku and probably Llorente but maybe Caroll.

Meant E. He has great fixtures next after blanks and he is on pens. Lukaku isnt. If Lukaku scored Bournemouth 4 goals (with 5 shots) Ibra can do the same in 2 weeks. think about it.

Two games without PvA, two clean sheets. Sounds about right.

    Hi all

    Any change needed here?

    Jaku Randolph
    Alonso RFM Pieters Brunt Amat
    Sanchez Alli Antonio KdB Fletcher
    Ibra Kaku Rondon

Captaining Ibra.. undecided which 2 of Brunt, Pieters and Rondon to play, probably the latter two!

Got 1ft and 0.7itb, so anyone you'd do? Was thinking Siggy in for KdB but KdB has got bou so I'm not as enthusiastic about that move

    Thanks!

Folks which team is most likely to win out of these teams?

I'm 120 behind so putting in one of these teams players and captaining. I've been going with the obvious players all season so time to mix it up

    Swansea vs Leicester
    West Ham vs West Brom
    Sunderland vs Southampton

The way Leicester are playing, probably Swansea!

      Captain Siggy?

      Fancy Swansea 2-1
Fancy West Ham / WBA 1-1 draw
Fancy Sunderland actually sneaking it 1-0

All the home teams recently bouncing back from poor results or pulling out surprise ones which might give them momentum

Hi....I currently have a midfield of

    Sanchez alli Phillips stanislas snoddy.

If I wanted to lose sanchez for gw26-28 and replace for someone who doesn't blank, who would that replacement be?

Siggy is the obvious choice...but he has Chelsea away in gw26.

    Thanks

      hazard/barkley
barkley is not worth as sanchez but its a best option without risk

Hi guys, is there any need to get Hazard, Costa, Siggy in or could I escape with this lot for next GW?
    Appreciate your feedback. Cheers.
