Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Arsenal v Bayern
Napoli v Real Madrid

Manuel Neuer – Bayern – $5,000 – G
The Bayern keeper may be pricey pick but it’s fair to say that Arsenal will need to carry the match to their visitors following a chastening 5-1 first-leg loss at the Allianz Arena.

Such a scenario should, at least, produce save points for Neuer, who has a healthy 11.4 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) over nine DraftKings outings. The weekend shutout against Koln in the Bundesliga makes it 17 clean sheets in 34 appearances this campaign.

Marcelo – Real Madrid – $4,900 – D
Over his last trio of La Liga appearances, the raiding right-back has delivered 29 crosses (worth 0.75 points each in DraftKings), a pair of assists and five attempts on goal, earning 15.3 FPPG.

Madrid have kept just a single clean sheet in the five league matches since facing Napoli, hinting that attacking returns need to be targeted if opting for a Real Madrid defender. Marcelo was rested for the 4-1 win at Eibar over the weekend so should be refreshed for the trip to the San Paolo.

Thiago Alcantara – Bayern – $5,600 – M
The Spaniard was the standout performer from Bayern’s first-leg rout, delivering two goals and an assist on his way to a 36-point haul.

This time around, it’s Thiago’s defensive contribution that has caught our eye – with Arsenal desperate to attack, we reckon his ball-winning abilities in the centre of the park will be key to launching Bayern’s quick counters. A total of 50 tackles (+ 1 point) and 81 interceptions (+0.5 points) is more than any team-mate in the Bundesliga this season.

DK1

Dries Mertens – Napoli – $7,500 – M/F
The Belgian fired both goals in a 2-1 victory over Roma at the weekend, underlining his importance to Napoli’s cause.

Mertens has produced 18 goals and seven assists across 24 Serie A appearances in a hugely impressive season and has also served up four goals and as many assists over the Champions League group stages.

If the Serie A side are to overturn a 3-1 deficit in front of their own supporters, Mertens’ contribution looks vital against a Madrid defence that’s shipped six goals in their last three matches.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal – $7,900 – M/F
Benched for the weekend loss at Liverpool, the Chilean will surely return to Arsene Wenger’s teamsheet as the Gunners attempt to claw back that four-goal deficit at home to Bayern.

Sanchez’ average of 15.5 FPPG is far and away the best on offer for the north London side – a total of 22 goal and 14 assists across all competitions indicates that, if Arsenal are to make any leeway tomorrow night, we can rely on Alexis.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Dortmund v Benfica
Barcelona v Paris

Ederson Moraes – Benfica – $3,800 – G
We tipped the Brazilian in the opening encounter with Dortmund and he duly delivered – preserving a clean sheet to secure a 1-0 win and score 24 points (keepers in DraftKings benefit from a +5 point win bonus).

Benfica will be under pressure from kick-off in Germany and if Moraes repeats those first-leg endeavours (his five saves kept them in the tie), a budget price tag should represent value even in defeat.

Lukasz Piszczek – Dortmund – $4,400 – D
A goal and pair of assists in the recent 3-0 win over Wolfsburg is indicative of the left-back’s value for money.

Another assist in the following home match – a 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday – has further boosted Piszczek’s prospects ahead a home encounter with Benfica. Dortmund should be dominant against their Portuguese opponents, which should allow the Polish international leeway to raid forward.

If you can afford the extra outlay, his team-mate Raphael Guerreiro ($5,200) is worth considering, with an 11.8 FPPG over seven European matches. Playing out of position in midfield, he’s scored twice and provided a fifth assist of the season over his last three Bundesliga outings.

Ivan Rakitic – Barcelona – $5,700 – M
Barcelona have it all to do after suffering a 4-0 defeat in the first leg, with their front trio all likely to see heavy investment.

Rakitic, however, offers a budget route into an attack that will be going all out to claw back some respect at the very least. Although he’s yet to score in Europe this term, three goals in his last four La Liga starts suggests that the Croatian should comfortably better his 7.7 FPPG on Wednesday evening.

DK2

Ousmane Dembele – Dortmund – $7,700 – M/F
The Frenchman has provided attacking returns in four of his last five home league matches, which includes a goal and assist combination against both Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in Dortmund’s last two at the Signal Iduna Park.

A 12.1 FPPG in the Champions League, comprising of a goal and five assists over the group stages, showcases his potential. Saturday’s 6-2 victory over fellow Champions League competitors Leverkusen boosts Dortmund’s momentum as they look to overcome that one-goal reverse against Benfica.

Edison Cavani– Paris Saint Germain – $6,700 – F
Rather than put their fate in Barca’s hands, Umai Emery will be eager for his side to notch an away goal and put the tie beyond doubt.

Having already scored in the first-leg rout, Cavani’s record this season suggests that he could offer excellent value for money at the Nou Camp.

A weekend penalty against Nancy took his tally to 27 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, while that consistency is echoed in the Champions League, with seven goals in as many matches.

Ibra isn't playing for the enxt few weeks anyway so him. If anything happens to your players, you have still got a playing player in Aguero (if you want).

Same conundrum myself. If he plays 442 then it has to be Antonio. If he plays current formation and puts Antonio on the right wing, Lanzini.

If I plan to WC in GW29, is it worth taking 2/3/4 hits for GW28 at what is essentially 2 points per transfer? I currently only have 7 starters, one of whom is flagged

    Foster* / Robinson
    Brunt*, Daniels*, Baines*, Amat, Alonso
    Mane*, Philips*, Sterling, Stanislas, Capoue
    Kaku*, Kun, Ibra

Thinking of Ibra, Sterling, Stan -> Carroll, Siggy, Cout/Firm for a -8 (could also ditch Capoue for King for an extra -4)

I need to overhaul my squad next week anyway as I am 70+ points behind in my ML and need to go down the extreme differential route, so I won't be stuck with any of these punts long term

If I'm getting rid of Ibra this week what are my options for playing forwards in GW28? I already have Lukaku.

Always a toss up. I have Mane and Firmino, worked out great this week, but Firmino's goal could have easily been Coutinho's. Lallana and Coutinho looked pretty good from the bits of the Arsenal game I watched. So any of them could produce.

Totally agree as it stands now Kun TC is a fail especially with hits etc factored in. I will not be happy with anything less than 25 to 30 * 3
I also fear KDB not starting last game might be bad news for Kun tomorrow.

I have faith he will start and be rested in Cup. KDB will start which is good for Kun as he will be threading balls straight to his feet.

I am hoping the same. Was painful to watch the City game, I just kept thinking to myself, please for the love of god pass the ball forward... so much passing between defenders and the goalie. Hoping KDB will help influence things.

I need at least a brace from Kun to catch my ML leader, who doesn't own him at all. Even if he scores one more goal I won't consider it a total failure. I'll just have to make sure I try to captain the same player that my ML rival uses his TC on later in the year to minimise the damage.

So Im reasonably well prepared for 28 with 9 playing, assuming Phillips plays and 1 FT. Currently sitting top in my ml by 40 odd points and I dont feel the need to take a hit to field 11. Just cant decide on:

A: Aguero to Llorente (Either Aguero/Llorente or Gray will become Kane for 29)
    B: Sterling to Antonio/Snoddy/Lanzini
    C: Roll the FT over

    Current team:
    - Foster -
    - Baines - Brunt - Daniels -
    - Mane - Siggy - Phillips -
    - Lukaku - Gray -

    Pickford - Aguero - Alli - Sterling - Alonso - Love

    Thanks in advance 😉

I was considering saving FT but I'm not in a strong position as you. I did A which is the best option out of those unless aguero is in your long term plans

Thats the way i'm leaning and would have already pulled the trigger if it weren't for already owning Siggy and not having any WHU... If i do that i'll prob wait to see if Agy goes crazy on Wed, maybe get another 0.1 out of him 😉

I am thinking A with Llorente.
Kane Llorente Lukaku would be a nice front 3 I think
I am going to look at Gabi too but don't think fixtures are as good.

    Fletcher Snodgrass Firminio XXXXX
    Caroll Lorente Lukaku

    Foster Hazard Pieters Alonso Sterling

    Rough plan later of

So trying to work out if the double actually paid off for me.

I removed lukaku (6) haz (11) and alli (12) which is 29 points!

In was sane (10) aguero tc (21) sterling (6) which is also 29 after the 8 point hit so even so far with my tc chip played.

If city blank against stoke or heavy rotation this would have to be a failed week. What position are other people in. Have your city transfers paid off?

Tricky isn't it? You see there was an Ibra-pull factor before DGW, so I can't say atm lol... didn't have Ibra you see? Took 1 hit te get Kun so got Sterling too. Then got Sane. 8, but I was selling Grabban, Hazard & Alli so it's complex lol hic! Bit meh... but might be okay.

      Kane Hazard Alli Phillips out.
      Aguero Sterling Sane Coutinho in.

      37 out (Yoshida sub)
25 in (I am not even counting captaincy yet since I don't know who I would have picked and I sounded the TC on Aguero)

I don't think I've ever had that kind of immediate punishment before from transfers. Need 20-25 on Wednesday to have made it worth it.

      Interesting idea. I went:

      In
      Mawson 1
      Stones 6
      Sane 10
      Aguero 21
      de Roon 0
Robertson 0 (would have benched both)
      = 38

      Out
      Baines 1
      Erkison 2
      Alonso 2
      Niasse 2
      Stanislas
      Barragan
      =7

Took a 20 point hit but still in profit. However, no one is considering who you would have captained instead of Aguero. I would have almost certainly have gone with Kane for an extra 13 points, and it doesn't look so healthy now.

Hazard (11) Benteke (1) out Sterling (6) Aguero TC in (21)

Costa, Fernandez and Luka to Aguero, Valencia and Hernandez for -8pts

Outgoing players has scored 16pts plus would have been Ibra(c), so 15pts

Incoming players have got 20pts minus 8, no profit as of now. Didnt expected any profit either, getting Aguero was just for rank safety...

      Hazard 11 + Phillips(Baines 1) + Lukaku 6 + Ibra(c) -1 = 16
      Kun 21 + Sterling 6 + Sane 10 - 8 = 29

13 points better off, effectively 9 when you factor in getting Lukaku back this week. It probably has been a bit of a fail so far, only half way there though!

    16. tm245
      • 12 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

      The other factor is captaincy:

1-determining your captain replacement if you hadn't gone for it. Ibra holders got saved by their hits for Aguero, for example.

2-determining the cost of using the TC now instead of later. A strong TC choice should earn an extra 20-25 points.

    17. Ruth_NZ
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

I did Lukaku(6) and Hazard(11) ➡ Aguero(7/?) and Sterling (5/?) with 2 FTs. So at the moment I am down 5 points but with 2 player/games to come. I can't do much worse than break even unless someone gets sent off or something.

On captaincy, I have also won. I would definitely have captained Zlatan so am 8 points ahead on that so far, with Aguero to play again.

All in all it has come out OK I think. The only black cloud is the way FPL changed the price thresholds, meaning Lukaku and Hazard (and Sanchez) haven't fallen as they should have done. That will tie up some extra budget when I get them back.

Would need a CS or attacking return to be worth it. Don't see Swansea keeping a CS so you're gambling on Mawson to get you something at the other end.

Also means that you're cheapest defender would be 4.6m. That's a lot of money in your defence.

If you manage a small green without using the TC this week that's a pretty decent outcome, right? I think that's how it's going to come out for me anyway, and well set for GW28.

The great thing is Aguero's 108% EO, I'm still amazed it's so low. Sanchez has been near to 140% in a SGW this season. So I'll be happy if all the TCers get their wish; I have 200% of Aguero's score so the better he does the more it will help me too. 🙂

Great. Do you have any other city players other than kun? Will their performance affect you?

Not that surprising I guess, only really lit up in cup games recently.
