FFS Cup

FFS Cups – Results & Second Round Draws

This afternoon we reveal who has made it through to the second round of both our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions.

In our open to all cup, reigning champion A Manager Has No Name saw off Flying Nugget 50-41 despite being more than 30,000 behind him in the overall rankings going into the clash.

The enigmatically-titled victor, who is placed at 30,453, now has himself another tricky tie, against community regular Krul runnings, who is 9,490 places above him.

He wasn’t the only cup winner to progress, with both Mark and I overcoming Sleep Talk and Virus in the mind respectively.

Mark, who is 472nd in the rankings, now faces 7,717-placed Jimmyt281, while I’ve got my work cut out to defeat 76,423-ranked Not Much Klopp, given my lowly 355,537 placing.

Former champions Donnellyc, Gribude and Wild Rover also prevailed. Of this trio, 323,577-placed Donnellyc has arguably the toughest encounter when he squares up to the 7,798-ranked SpartaBhoy.

Meanwhile, 67,661-placed Gribude faces 5,199-ranked Footopia and Wild Rover takes on Kabukkinen, who at 25,793, is 18,154 places ahead of our community’s resident Blackburn fan.

Sadly, we say goodbye to former winner MCH at this stage, who was defeated 49-42 by upthemiddle.

In the first round’s live Hall of Fame top ten derby, Philman, who is 1,071 in the overall standings and seventh in our list of all-time best FPL managers, lost 68-34 to Dronny Imp (aka David Meechan), who is tenth in our elite listings and has moved up to 7,275 in the world.

Legomane, who is 3,755 places behind David, has drawn the short straw to become this top manager’s next opponent.

Another to fall victim to the fixture list is FetchUp, who is placed 8,461 in the world but next faces Hana, who at 52 overall is the competition’s highest-ranked manager.

The full second round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in the Members’ Cup former winner Trigg, who is 134,835 in the world, won a close encounter with Bangkok Canary 59-53 and next takes on 56,151-ranked Fenghh.

FFScout Members’ League leader and 34th-placed Billy Ketsu was another victor. After overcoming Emckay, he now encounters Doctor101, who is ranked 56,236.

Other eye-catching ties include Jafooli’s clash with another community regular VS10, while Hana makes it through in this contest as well and takes on FFScout moderator Spencer .

The full second round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved, and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes simply click this link.

    g2g?

    Jaku
    Alonso Valencia Walker Yoshida
    Sanchez Coutinho Alli
    Defoe* Lukaku Costa

    Bench: Randolph Nyom T.Carroll Phillips*

Worth going Defoe -> Andy Carroll for a -4? (also frees up 1.5 for next gw transfer) or just play Nyom (away at Watford)?

    Cheers

Carroll - four goals in last two in the league against Arsenal. Will be up against Gabriel most likely - hattrick ensues.

The big Geordie even scored in the Gunners' 5-1 rout of the Hammers this season.

Granted though Lukaku probably won't get much. costa has very strong underlying stats though and City have just shipped two. Think this will be a very goalish game. Aguero and Costa both to score.

Costa against that City defence?! you must be joking. It is a great week for him - I'd consider the captaincy even (if I owned him and didn't own Sanchez).

Lukaku and Carroll will make up for bad fixtures this week with superb ones next.

      McAuley or Alonso.

But benching McAuley rarely works out well.

    8. Boetticher
      • 7 Years

To start, no way McAuley or Eriksen. That's a clean sheet and assist right there.

If Sigurdsson doesn't have (a healthy) Llorente to get on the end of a cross, then he's a likely 2 pointer. And Alonso is also a likely 2 pointer, but there still remains the chance of a clean sheet or assist.

      I'd bench Sig.

Brendan Rodgers reckons Celtic could be a top 4/6 team in the BPL. Pretty sure he means with all the financial backing they'd get from being in the Premier League, but still think its very very optimistic.

Where do you think would they be in the table with their current team? And can you think of any way of getting them into the BPL? Dropping them in league 2? Play off with Championship promoted teams?

I appreciate that, but they're far far far superior than anything in SPL so hard to use that as a comparison. Any other SPL team, yes probably league 1 or even 2.

Chelsea did it with Ibramovich money.. all you need is a backer with big cash to buy big players these days. If they already have the support base then they have a revenue stream, but I doubt they have the global support base of teams like Manu, Ars, Che ...

Mané > Sanchez leaves me 2.6 ITB and this team :

    Heaton
    Alonso Valencia Davies Pieters
    Sanchez Alli Eriksen Sigurdsson
    Vardy Lukaku

    (Pickford Llorente TCarroll ASmith)

Worried about no Liverpool cover next week. My main ML rival has Couts...

Are either Siggy > Cout (to block) or Llorente > Origi worth a (-4)?
My plan is to take out (Siggy & )Vardy next week for (Sane & )Aguero.

I still have WC in hand for GW35 / 36 so any other short term options would be gladly considered. Cheers.

Should I use my WC?Otherwise what transfers to do?
I think i want to get Pickford till the end of the season.

Sturridge has returned to training but nowhere near match fit. Origi is ahead of him in the pecking order and Woodburn possibly would get the nod ahead of him now. There's a chance he's played his last game for Liverpool, although it's more likely we'll see the odd cameo before he's sold in the summer.

Trouble is he was on fire for Bournemouth in their promotion season. He will get points but he is what he is, an ok 6-6.5 midfielder to have when Newcastle have favourable fixtures that will get the odd goal or assist.
