Double Gameweeks 36 and 37 Confirmed

Earlier this lunchtime, the Premier League confirmed new dates for a number of fixtures, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to fine-tune their wildcard plans for the run-in.

Double Gameweek 36

Arsenal – Man United (H), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H)

Only two teams – Southampton and Arsenal – have been handed a double Gameweek 36 after their head-to-head, which was postponed due to the former’s progress to the EFL Cup final, was shifted to Wednesday, May 10.

Claude Puel’s men hardly have the easiest of schedules, with a testing weekend trip to Liverpool before entertaining the Gunners.

Similarly, Arsenal host Man United in the weekend prior to making their way to St Mary’s.

Double Gameweek 37

Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Leicester – Man City (A), Spurs (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)
Manchester United – Spurs (A), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Middlesbrough (A), Man United (H)
Sunderland – Swansea (H), Arsenal (A)
Spurs – Man United (H), Leicester (A)
Watford – Everton (A), Chelsea (A)
West Bromwich Albion – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)

With ten teams set to play twice in Gameweek 37, this, as expected, offers a prime opportunity to use the remaining chips.

Obviously you are unable to play two chips in the same Gameweek, so if you are wildcarding in Gameweek 36 to set up your squad for Gameweek 37, it’s worth remembering that you cannot then also use a Triple Captain or Bench Boost in Gameweek 36.

Dealing the second wildcard in Gameweek 36 to catch the early potential offered by Arsenal and Southampton, then following it up with a Bench Boost or Triple Captain chip in the next Gameweek, looks the best solution.

In terms of the teams involved, the Gunners go to Stoke before welcoming Sunderland to the Emirates in Gameweek 37, while the Saints travel to Middlesbrough prior to facing Man United at St Mary’s.

Despite his recent drought, Alexis Sanchez is likely to find a place in many second wildcard teams, though non-owners may now choose to overlook him until the Gunners’ two pairs of fixtures, focusing their short-term plans instead on double Gameweek 34 attackers from Man United and Palace.

At 5.1, the likes of James Ward-Prowse could emerge as a decent midfield enabler, while the fitness of Manolo Gabbiadini will also play a part in our thinking.

For those looking to load up on Arsenal and Southampton for their back-to-back doubles, it’s worth bearing in mind that they also offer home matches in Gameweek 38, entertaining Everton and Stoke respectively.

Chelsea will now travel to West Brom before hosting Watford on Monday May 15, while the Hornets have consecutive road trips for their double Gameweek 37, with a visit to Everton preceding their Stamford Bridge encounter.

Crucially, moving the Chelsea v Watford match to that Monday evening has had a significant impact on the Gameweek 37 deadline.

Essentially, Gameweek 37 will now get underway on the evening of Friday, May 12, when West Brom host Chelsea and Everton entertain Watford. The deadline – an hour before the first match gets underway –will be 6.45pm.

Man City, meanwhile, are the only side set to play twice in front of their own supporters, with clashes against Leicester and West Brom on the agenda for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Having scored in each of the last four Gameweeks, Sergio Aguero will stake a claim for consideration here but – as we saw in the case of Raheem Sterling, who was rested for the second match of double Gameweek 27 – Pep’s tinkering could prove a spanner in the works.

For Man United, this means that all four of their matches across double Gameweek 34 (Burnley, Man City) and Gameweek 37 are away from home.

While those extra fixtures heighten the appeal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored ten of his 17 goals on the road, the veteran has still offered more threat in front of his own fans, firing an effort every 18 minutes at Old Trafford compared with 30 minutes away.

Encouragingly for those eyeing up their backline, Jose Mourinho’s men have chalked up six of 12 clean sheets on the road this season – indeed, United have conceded less away goals (13) than any other side.

In spite of the Red Devils’ fine away record, faith in Spurs’ trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen is likely to remain resolute as they welcome United to the Lane before heading off to Leicester in the final fixture of Gameweek 37.

As always, we’ll look to publish ‘Scouting the Doubles’ articles assessing the prospects in greater detail in the build-up to each double Gameweek.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering..

Is anyone not going to have Aguero for the double?

I triple captained him last time which didn't go well, so you know he'll ruin me if I don't have him this time.

    So expensive, though..

Disagree with Mark, I think Lukaku (c) and Aguero would be a much bigger differential than getting Kane (c) in, should imagine most above him will do the latter. A dullard move Kane (c) painted as a maverick move, at least Jonty was up front about being a robot dullard!

Take it he said this in the Scoutcast? I'll listen to it later but I have Kun & Lukaku too and was planning the dullard move.

However from a differential point keeping Kun could be big. What would you suggest with this lot?

      Jaku

      Valencia Baines Alonso

      Zaha Alli Siggy Sanchez

      Kun Benteke Lukaku

Subs Valdes De Roon Brunt Amat

I'm swaying between banking or taking an 8 point hit so really am all over the place! Your team looks very set. I'd definitely do Kun to Kane if I were you for free seems a no brainer! Good luck dude. I'm only considering keeping Kun as I have 3 spurs so not sure getting rid of 1 of the others for a hit is a wise idea.

We will see, I sense there will be many more Kane (c) than Romelu (c) top 500 with everyone making the move for free or a hit. We will see.

      A few stats....
Spurs have conceded 8 goals in 16 games at home this season.
Bournemouth have scored 18 times in 16 games away from home.
Sunderland have scored 14 goals in 16 at home.
West Ham have conceded 30 times in 16 away games.

Same here, playing Anichebe as I see his chances good against a WHU under pressure with a lot of changes to be made in their starting line up du to suspensions and injuries. I bought him only for this game to be used mostly because King is up against the Spurs away and fancy his chances as slim at best to get something against the best defence in the league. Hope that helps you with your decision-)

So this is quite a conundrum most have.

If you still have WC, Triple captain and bench boost chips left. When will be the best time to play them.

Firstly, when to play the WC as you can't play two chips in the same week.

Secondly. I think the best use of the triple captain would be in GW 37. On a Spurs or Chelsea player. Considering the fixtures. Or even Sanchez if he sorts himself out. But would you not want to play Bench boost in GW 37, considering all the option you can potentially have.

Lastly, depending on which chip you use in GW 37. When would you use the other?

My team if it helps with advice currently is -

    De Gea / Heaton
    Walker/Valencia/Alonso/Mawson/McAuley
    Alli/Sanchez/Siggurdsson/Tadic/Capoue
    Vardy/Lukaku/Barnes

I've used my TC, but still wouldn't use it in 37 if I had it. You're giving yourself potentially 8 more players off the bench in that monster DGW in 37 if you use BB, that's got a much higher upside that TC one player. I'd TC Ibra next week or Sanchez in 36. Or even one of Kane or Lukaku this weekend.

the absolute hands down stand out captain choice (if everyone fit) is Kane in week 37. Even if the title is gone, Spurs will want to finish the season strong. Hazard/Costa also be amazing if, and it's a big IF, Chelsea need to win the league in their second match.

      nothing in 36 approaches that

I was set on WC 35, TC 36, BB 37

however, I am certainly now going to at least play around with having 5 or 6 arsenal/saints players on my wildcard and bench boosting in 36 instead - saving my two transfers and triple captaining in 37

bear in mind Saints have a great fixture in 35 (home to Hull) so tripling up on wilcard is no problem there.

So which is more likely to gain more points in GW37:

        a) TC kane gw37 ( 2 matches)
        b) effectively 8 players on bench + Kane captain

well it's four players, as that will be the difference extra from boosting in week 36 with five people doubling (29 to 24 - with Lukaku as the only single)

plus it's not as simple as that, if you're playing for a triple in 37 you can max out on a first 11 and have absolute dirt on your bench

I think you have to BB GW37 unless you WC gw35 to create a good bench boost for GW36 to free up TC for GW37.

Personally I think GW35 is nailed for WC.

TC, BB is a lottery for the DGWs right now until further analysis is done. Its still along way away you never know what might happen between then

Jesus is said to be back around gameweek 35, but bear in mind his type of injury. It´s a metatarsal, same as Hendo and without beiing an expert on those I do know that these kind of injuries very often reoccur when exposed in high intensiv actions. I think its down to the fact that the bones which is broken is very tiny and small, which increases the recurrence of injury. Just a note to the Aguero case GW 37

Ibra-Kane-Lukaku for GW34 and probably for GW37 also. Only change is if Pep shows he's going back to Jesus in 35/36 then maybe Jesus for Lukaku in 37. In any case, WC in 35 is only for remaining 12 players...

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Valencia Davies Yoshida Friend
    Alexis Eriksen Alli Siggy Fletcher
    Aguero Lukaku Barnes

    (a)
This week: Bavies Kun ➡ Chambers Kane -4
Next week: Fletcher Kane ➡ Zaha Zlatan -4

Pros: Captain Kane this week and have another Boro defender for DGW34
    Cons: 8 points of hit

    (b)
    This week: Bank FT
Next week: Fletcher Kun ➡ Zaha Zlatan

Pros: No hits and Sours defender GW33
Cons: No Kane (c) GW 33 and no Boro defender for DGW34

Hard decision this. If I thought Lukaku (c) was the right move this week I'd go B but I expect more goals in the Spurs match so Kane (c) I believe is clearly the right choice which makes going B a far from easy choice.

To those that have already WCed
    Ibra
    United def
    Boro def
Zaha enough for 34. Don't kill yourselves

Got de roon, and valencia already so a -4 will suffice unless I get 3 injuries/suspensions over the weekend

    A) Kun > Kane(c)
    B) Kun + Vardy > Kane(c) + Ibra (-4)

Having slight doubts about vardys gametime, but reluctant to take another hit.

Now that guys have suggested Ward over Holgate.. Would you do the following this weekend

    Olsson > Ward (-4)

Trying to pull teeth on here today. The DGW announcements have thrown everyone into a frenzy. Everyone typing. No one reading 🙂

I'm not sure I'd be keen on that move, Ward is +0.7m too. Decent fixtures for Holgate and Olsson too no?

Looking at risking no Kane this weekend. When I crumbled over Sanchez it backfired, now I am looking at resisting I can see this ending badly. 🙁

Is he worth -4, dropping Ben Davies for? Could Kun and Bavies cover his points? Going without could work out well if Lukaku outscores him.

Yeah, but do you want to risk that? I try to play conservatively by copying the common moves. So have to get him if it's only a -4 away.

Sanchez vs West Ham was a must, he produced 3 points.

Aguero vs. Hull was a must, he produced 9 points.

      Now Kane vs Bournemouth.

Is it really worth it taking hits to get one specific player for one particular fixture only?

Especially if you have Spurs mids, as I presume you do.

No chance he'll go before the end of the season, though a loss could lead to an announcement it would still seem extremely unWenger like.

As an Arsenal fan, I agree. I'll be getting rid of Sanchez this GW but if he shows signs of coming back to life in the next 3 GWs, I'll be forced to bring him in for the DGWs.

Lukaku has scored at least 10 pts in the following games this season: sun, MID, WHU, wat, SOU, BOU, WBA, HUL, LEI

There's nothing to suggest that he can't do that against Burnley, who are the team with the worst away record in the league.

If you have your WC, TC, BB and AOA:

          GW35: WC
          GW36: TC
          GW37: BB
          GW38: AOA

If you have used your TC then:

          GW36: WC
          GW37: BB
          GW38: AOA

I'm planning AOA in gw34 tho De Roon is my 5th attacking player. Will likely have 6 dgw and going to bank on a Gibson & Valdes double with Valencia at the back.

Need to Get rid of Danny Simpson have exactly 4.8 or less or less to spend !! Thinking Jagielka but have Baines and they have no double gameweeks, Yoshida has doubles but horrible Fixtures same goes with Palace. Borough might work but have Valdes and they have Arsenal this week so could be a eated transfer shorterm just stuck 🙂

A Middlesborough defender to a chelsea defender looks a sound move in gw36, Borough have a hellish fixture list after gw34 and are playing Chelsea that gameweek, will downgrade origi to afford the upgrade.

If you had this team would you take a -4 to take Aguero out for Kane (c)?

            Heaton (Jaku)
            Valencia, Baines, PVA (Olsson, McAuley)
Zaha, Eriksen, Alli (c), Hazard (Capoue)
            Lukaku, Aguero, Origi

            0FT £1.1m ITB

            A) Aguero out for Kane -4
            B) Leave team as it is
