Double Gameweeks 36 and 37 Confirmed

Earlier this lunchtime, the Premier League confirmed new dates for a number of fixtures, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to fine-tune their wildcard plans for the run-in.

Double Gameweek 36

Arsenal – Man United (H), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H)

Only two teams – Southampton and Arsenal – have been handed a double Gameweek 36 after their head-to-head, which was postponed due to the former’s progress to the EFL Cup final, was shifted to Wednesday, May 10.

Claude Puel’s men hardly have the easiest of schedules, with a testing weekend trip to Liverpool before entertaining the Gunners.

Similarly, Arsenal host Man United in the weekend prior to making their way to St Mary’s.

Double Gameweek 37

Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Leicester – Man City (A), Spurs (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)
Manchester United – Spurs (A), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Middlesbrough (A), Man United (H)
Sunderland – Swansea (H), Arsenal (A)
Spurs – Man United (H), Leicester (A)
Watford – Everton (A), Chelsea (A)
West Bromwich Albion – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)

With ten teams set to play twice in Gameweek 37, this, as expected, offers a prime opportunity to use the remaining chips.

Obviously you are unable to play two chips in the same Gameweek, so if you are wildcarding in Gameweek 36 to set up your squad for Gameweek 37, it’s worth remembering that you cannot then also use a Triple Captain or Bench Boost in Gameweek 36.

Dealing the second wildcard in Gameweek 36 to catch the early potential offered by Arsenal and Southampton, then following it up with a Bench Boost or Triple Captain chip in the next Gameweek, looks the best solution.

In terms of the teams involved, the Gunners go to Stoke before welcoming Sunderland to the Emirates in Gameweek 37, while the Saints travel to Middlesbrough prior to facing Man United at St Mary’s.

Despite his recent drought, Alexis Sanchez is likely to find a place in many second wildcard teams, though non-owners may now choose to overlook him until the Gunners’ two pairs of fixtures, focusing their short-term plans instead on double Gameweek 34 attackers from Man United and Palace.

At 5.1, the likes of James Ward-Prowse could emerge as a decent midfield enabler, while the fitness of Manolo Gabbiadini will also play a part in our thinking.

For those looking to load up on Arsenal and Southampton for their back-to-back doubles, it’s worth bearing in mind that they also offer home matches in Gameweek 38, entertaining Everton and Stoke respectively.

Chelsea will now travel to West Brom before hosting Watford on Monday May 15, while the Hornets have consecutive road trips for their double Gameweek 37, with a visit to Everton preceding their Stamford Bridge encounter.

Crucially, moving the Chelsea v Watford match to that Monday evening has had a significant impact on the Gameweek 37 deadline.

Essentially, Gameweek 37 will now get underway on the evening of Friday, May 12, when West Brom host Chelsea and Everton entertain Watford. The deadline – an hour before the first match gets underway –will be 6.45pm.

Man City, meanwhile, are the only side set to play twice in front of their own supporters, with clashes against Leicester and West Brom on the agenda for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Having scored in each of the last four Gameweeks, Sergio Aguero will stake a claim for consideration here but – as we saw in the case of Raheem Sterling, who was rested for the second match of double Gameweek 27 – Pep’s tinkering could prove a spanner in the works.

For Man United, this means that all four of their matches across double Gameweek 34 (Burnley, Man City) and Gameweek 37 are away from home.

While those extra fixtures heighten the appeal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored ten of his 17 goals on the road, the veteran has still offered more threat in front of his own fans, firing an effort every 18 minutes at Old Trafford compared with 30 minutes away.

Encouragingly for those eyeing up their backline, Jose Mourinho’s men have chalked up six of 12 clean sheets on the road this season – indeed, United have conceded less away goals (13) than any other side.

In spite of the Red Devils’ fine away record, faith in Spurs’ trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen is likely to remain resolute as they welcome United to the Lane before heading off to Leicester in the final fixture of Gameweek 37.

As always, we’ll look to publish ‘Scouting the Doubles’ articles assessing the prospects in greater detail in the build-up to each double Gameweek.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering..

looking at the fixtures, If you bought Lukaku early (9.9 for me)
    Is it even worth:

Lukaku to Ibra and losing the value of Lukaku considering he has gw34 (whu), gw35 (CHE), gw36 (swa)

    Ibra has gw34 (bur,mci), gw35 (swa), gw36 (ars)

Is Ibra to lukaku worth it, when trying to buy him back will cost you 0.5m more

Considering I got him in at 9.5 it's even worse for me. Made me do surgery to my mids and defs to get Ibra for Gabbi instead rather than settle for Benteke or Negredo.

      I got him for 10. If I sell I get 10.2.

If I buy him back later will cost about 10.6 so (-0.4)

Ibra could gain 0.2 at least which babks me 0.1.

Total loss if to buy back in place of ibra = 0.3.

      Not a big deal

Correct. You get half the difference gain.

So I get 10.2 for him.

I expect him to gain another 0.1 so he would cost 10.5 to buy back later.

    Currently have:

    Pickford

    Alonso, Valencia, Davies, Mawson

    Eriksen, Son, Siggy, Lanzini

    Aguero (c), Zlatan

    Subs: Valdes, Negredo, Yoshida, JWP

    1 FT, 0.3m ITB

Does it make sense for me to do either Siggy->Zaha or Lanzini->Zaha? Siggy has (watford, STOKE), Lanzini has (sunderland, EVERTON), whereas Zaha obviously has 3 fixtures over the next two GWs (LEICESTER, liverpool, SPURS) followed by BURNLEY. My natural inclination was to save my FT for now, and then take stock of the situation next week, since both Siggy and Lanzini have decent games this week, but if I'm going to switch anyways, might as well get Zaha now as he arguably has the best fixture of the three...

    Thoughts very welcome!

I don't see it being worthwhile. Let's assume Ibra scores 10 points and I TC him. I get 30 points, those who captain him get 20. 10 points profit.

Now let's assume Pogba scores 10 points and I TC him. I get 30 points, the rest get nothing at all because no one owns him. Take away the 10 I lose for not captaining Ibra, that's 20 points profit.

Has hit the woodwork a dozen times. A bit more luck/accuracy and he has 10+ goals.

Plus what's the point of picking the same players as everyone else. Got to be maverick at this stage of the season.

The point of TC is choosing the player who is going to get the most points, and Ibra is definitely going to have higher points than Pogba.

Just keeping Pogba whilst having Ibra TC is enough.

Nothing is definite in football though. Plus as I said, he has a lot of attempts go just wide or hit the woodwork so it's not like he is a defensive midfielder who never drives forward.

Could go for a TC in GW38? It tends to be notably higher scoring than any other GW. Someone did a post/article on here about it earlier in the season. There is a statistically significant rise in goals scored in the final round of fixtures, which makes sense with more or less everyone "on the beach".

The article was about saving AoA for that week (which is what I'm doing) but TC would be an option also.

Also, there are great fixtures for Chelsea and Spurs (Sunderland and Hull).

I'd rather use TC on Lukaku this week, or Kane in 38 than Pogba, even in a DGW.

GW 34 options are (still have WC so Alonso would be back in GW36):

Call me crazy... but have you considered Kane in GW37 and bench boosting earlier? Haven't thought about it too much but could be worth considering! I suppose it depends on the current state of your team

For all those who used their TC - there is up side. You can WC in GW 36 and have fresh team for DGW 37 and people with TC will probably WC in GW 35 (to use TC in GW 36) so there can be some injuries, rotation etc to make some damage in their teams.

no WC left, only BB and TC available so i need to do some planning. can get this without any hits for gw37. any obvious changes? only single gw player is king who has good fixtures till the end of the season anyway.

Can you do Sanchez/Llorente to Zaha/Kane?

        🙂

Others could be hoding behid the sofa if swansea, Aguero or Lukaku kicks into gear.

In my eyes Walker is your immediate concern.

        So walker > davies/ward

        Davies (like for like)

        Ward ( lovely next 3 gw's)

Both bank you same in cash.

        Captain lukaku and pray!!

Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia, De Gea and Ashley Young have all trained ahead of #MUFC Europa League clash with Anderlecht on Thursday.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Juan Mata were the only first-team squad members absent from the session at Carrington this morning. #MUFC

I can see this WC36 and BB37 turning out to be a disaster. Best laid plans and all that.

Southampton, City and Arsenal all nice fixtures but all very prone to rotation. Expect to see Caceres and other wing backs getting games along with Austin Gabbi and Long all getting gametime. Pep is Pep.

Meanwhile teams like Everton and Palace have a great fixture in 37. I'll be holding whatever assets from the I have.

I'm still not fond of Ibra during gw34 only because Heaton is probably going to be Manuel Neuer and Man City could well shut out Ibra for the match, having said that he could go on to score 2 or more but I'm still unsure about him even as a TC option..
