FFS Cup

FFS Cups – Results and Quarter-Final Draws

We take some time this evening to find out who has made it through to the quarter-finals of our two Premier League cup competitions.

Topping the bill among the last eight ties is a Live Hall of Fame top ten derby between Mark, whose rank of 297 makes him the highest-placed remaining manager, and the 423-ranked My Pretty Pony (aka Peter Kouewenberg). While Mark has the rank advantage, Peter’s second placing in the Live Hall of Fame, compared to Mark’s sixth spot, could see him prevail.

Choppers13, who conquered Patio Kev in round five, takes on Team Fosu-Mensah, who is at 3,474 – 2,506 places behind his top 1,000-ranked opponent.

The third quarter-final looks likely to be another close affair, with Sleepysi ranked just 960 behind 1,192-placed Fouad Khan.

Given the current rank of the other six managers through, both 364,588-placed K3lviN and 229,821-ranked The Shaman will be breating a sigh of relief as they face each other in a clash of the competition’s lowest-ranked remaining managers by some distance.

The full quarter-finals draw can be found here.

Choppers13 is the Members cup’s highest ranked-manager – and the only one still in both competitions. He has, on the face of it, a far easier tie in the Members cup, when he takes on 132,642-ranked Barwood.

The giant-killing exploits of 46,996-placed rogerbarton have taken him into the quarter-finals. Fresh from seeing off an 88th-ranked Pukka in round four, Roger defeated 20,109-placed Dr Ennet in the final 16 to set up an encounter with aspern, another higher- ranked manager, who sits in 12,763,

Cheltnamshire lalala, who currently sits at 3,056 and defeated community writer Kryten in the last 16, will square up to 59,241-ranked Malaikat Jahad.

Elsewhere, 13,579-placed Dynamic is the favourite in his quarter-final tie with Thecrystalball, who is the contest’s lowest-ranked manager at 171,998.

The full quarter final round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes, click this link.

Thinking to go without ARS attack. They don't look team in form. Manu and Sou got good defences too so will make it tough.
    Cech
    Alonso, Cahill, Huth
    Eriksen, Alli, King, Hazard
    Gabbi, Kane, Jesus
    Subs: Willy, Yoshida, Bertand, Herrera.

    Looks good to go

        Might get Sanchez next week.
        Is Gabi on penalties
Gabbi too looks out of form. So maybe downgrade him also on WC

Agreed. Would Gabbi to Anichebe be enough to fund Herrera to Ozil? Bertrand seems an unnecessary luxury at his price too. If you really want double Saints defence I'd downgrade him to Stephens and try to get Sanchez. Arsenal aren't in form but Sanchez can explode at any time and that would be a season killer given the amount of players who will captain him.

          Good logic. Made few changes
          Cech
          Alonso, Cahill, Huth
          King, Sanchez, Alli, Sane, Hazard
          Kane, Jesus
          Subs: Pickford, Yoshida, Stephens, Anichibe

          Looks good now.
If Gabbi is on penalties might do Jesus to Gabbi and get Jesus next week. Only thing is his form is against it.
Dropped Eriksen and kept Alli looks right move

    Best move here?

    A) no hits
    B) Grant & Valencia -> Cech & Gabriel (-8)
    C) Grant, Valencia & Eriksen -> Cech, Yoshida & Ozil (-12)

Normally those hits look madness, but given I intend to BB in 37, B) is likely to give 4 extra starters and C) is likely to give 6 extra starters, so the hits could be worth the risk....

    Jaku
    Bavies, Robertson, Stones
    Sanchez, Haz, Eriksen, King
    Costa, Jesus, Gabbi

    Grant, Zaha, Brunt, Valencia
    Bank 0.0m, 0FT

Can you do Grant & Valencia -> Caballero and Monreal? Just don't think Gabriel is a safe pick at all. Or maybe Cech and Yoshida? Wouldn't do Eriksen -> Ozil for a hit.

        0.2m short of Willy/Monreal.

Could do Cech & Cedric/Yosh though.

I asked my friends so many questions about my WC, they started calling me Jonswick.

Not sure why you'd take hits to removed Eriksen and Valencia who have DGWs when you have
Jaku Robertson Grant Zaha - no DGW
Stones - questionable for health and play time
BDavies - questions for play time with Rose back
      Brunt - terrible DGW

And I wouldn't bring in Gabriel as a replacement who is also questionable for play time.

If I was going to do a hit to set up for next week and help this week, I'd do something like Zaha and Brunt to Albrighton/Capoue and Monreal

Given Jose's comments I think Valencia only plays 2 of their remaining 4 PL games, and he's expensive. Eriksen -> Ozil is risky, but it gets an extra game with marginally better fixtures. And Grant definitely needs to go for the DGW next week. The others you mention are either cheap or have a DGW (or both) and Zaha has a good SGW in 37. Grant out is an absolute must.

I'm not getting big Victor, little to no chance of a haul. I understand from a wc point of view using him as an enabler but I used mine in 29.

Walcott is a screaming batsh-t crazy punt.

I'd love to do it. I can't justify it with my team set up.

If I was has space for someone in the Pedro/Sane price bracket, I'd punt Walcott this week and leave myself the cash to shift to Pedro/Sane next week.

I don't think a cheap ARS attacker cuts the mustard. Sanchez or Ozil if you're brave enough or go without. Plenty of top attacking options out there who will most likely do better in their sgw that Walcott, Giroud etc.

I'll be getting rid of a Spurs attcker for him next week. If you have Hazard it's not really a terrible move but I do fear Costa over the final few games, could be plenty of goals for CHE.

Which one scores more points: ???

    A) With Costa and slightly weaker defense and 5th mid:
    Cech Wally
Alonso Yoshida HUTH(WAT) Stephens HOLGATE (@Swans)
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen King ALBRIGHTON(WAT)
    COSTA (BORO) Kane Jesus

    B) Or without Costa but better defense and 5th mid
    Cech Wally
Alonso Yoshida GABRIEL (MAN U and SOTON) VERTONGHEN (PALACE) Stephens
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen King SANE
    GABBIADINI Kane Jesus

And Gabriel can go to Monreal if so do Gabbi to Anichebe

Loving Walcott as your 2nd GK 😛

      I lean toward A.

If you go with B, I'd change Gabriel and Stephens to Huth and Holgate (or just change Gabriel to Huth if you got the .1 to spare) as I don't trust Gabriel one bit.

So Huth and Albrighton have 3 matches and Holgate 2 but Sane and City have better 3 all home matches than Leicester. Will losing Sane with 3 good matches and Gabriel and Verty with 4 and 3 matches be made up for by Costa's 3 good matches?

    Gabbi Kane

    Bench Pickford Barnes N'Diaye Barragan

Monreal in for Bailly + Jesus in for Aguero for a -8 looking like the best bet this GW then?

    Pickford.

    Gabby, Aguero**, Kane.

    Henn, Holgate, De Roon, Bailly**.

Aguero news coming today. Wait for that.

Bailly is back in training. Wait for more info from Europa match tonight.

Hennessy to Caballero/Cech and Aguero to Jesus seem a more forward looking -8 if Bailly is healthy and Aguero is not (which is my guess) for DGW.

Struggling here DZ, WC used in 29 and now I've three players that I want to get rid of next week and I also really want a city attacker in my team (preferably Jesus):

    Pickford/Hennessey*
    Alonso/Gabriel/Yoshi/Valencia*/Mawson
    Sanchez/Hazard/Alli/Eriksen/King
    Kane/Benteke/Gestede*

    A. Henn + Eriksen + Gestede to Willy + T.Car + Jesus.
    B. Henn + Eriksen + Gested to Willy + Sane + Ayew.
    C. Henn + Kane + Gestede to Willy + Jesus + Llorente.
    D. Other
Valencia to Vertongen for an additional hit?

Valencia to Stephens & Benteke to Jesus
      ????
Less hits now, more info later.

Maybe just let Gestede rot and focus on other 14 slots? Not sure you're getting one in for Gestede at -4 that's worth the trouble.

      I like Capoue at 4.5

and if you really want to upgrade elsehwere, Tom Carroll at 4.1 or Morrison at 4.3 are lurking.

Others (but not me) like Ndidi at 4.6 (because they can say "YES NDIDI" if he scores I presume) and Matic at 4.8.

You should have a DGW player for 37 in that spot. Can watch this week for more info before making move if finances allow.

Not sure I fancy how the FPL app gives a reminder 2 hours before the deadline. I believe this weeks deadline would've been a surprise for quite a lot, if they were not to be rescued by the app. It has already provided the information about Ars-Sout dgw, and surely will give a reminder about extended gw37 as well. Kind of takes away some of the advantaged of hanging out on sites like this.

I'm going for the win 😉 I'm in top 1k, so don't really think its that important. Just kind of struck me when someone posted that slow price rises had the same affect.

I don't think that many people have the app who aren't on this site.

Ibra was the most captained player last week.
      https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/home

Beyond that, look at the ownership percentages for DGW37 players. So many are still really really low.

I think you're overestimating how many people are still paying attention or even giving the game a second thought.

Not sure about this mate. Difference between dead teams, and managers who would of been caught by a early deadline or unannounced dgw. And no one in my ML is on this site, as far as I know, but quite a few has the app.

I agree with you. My casual friend who doesn't use this site has the app and I suspect many others do.

It's good starting line up with WC. However, the main reason why we all waited that long to WC is maximize our profits with BB on GW 37.

      Jaku Lowton TCarroll Kingsley

This won't help the case I am afraid

I've got Walcott. Don't ask. Anyway, I'm torn between captaining him or Jesus this week. He could start upfront and have a great few games. Or Jesus could run through a weakened CP defense. Also got my TC and plan to BB next week. Help!

    1. mcrayeps
      • 7 Years

Jesus could score 1 or maybe 2
Walcott could play 30 minutes maybe 45 total

      LOVE IT.

      TC him up.

Also got Walcott, he scored 2 in 2, spoke out after Palace then got dropped, brave to captain him, having thoughts about keeping him as not sure if he'll play.

Thing is, Giroud has been so bad in the last 2 or 3 that he could easily get a recall so in a bit of limbo.

Captaining is a step too far though.

Really though. B for me, as I don't rate Ozil and Son, and Sanchez captaincy will be huge. Not sure about Davies for the run in though, and not sold on Pedro either. Think Davies will play both in 37?

How would you manipulate this side to get in Costa? Considering team balance that is.

Hard to fit in Costa with that mid. de Gea and Walker are obvious candidates for a downgrade imo.

Did a pretty bad wildcard in GW34 and have this team now. The plan was to do Benteke to Costa this GW. I cant seem to find a good defender at 5.5, but if I do Benteke to Jesus I can do Gibson to Cahill.
1FT, 3.6ITB, unused chips: BB, AOA.

      Cech
      Bertrand - Alonso - Kos
      Haz - Sanchez - Sane - Zaha
      Rashford - Benteke - Gabbiadini

Bench: De gea - Townsend - Bailly - Gibson

need sanchez for 36, might get away in gw37 due to other good dgw captain options.
