FFS Cup

FFS Cups – Results and Quarter-Final Draws

We take some time this evening to find out who has made it through to the quarter-finals of our two Premier League cup competitions.

Topping the bill among the last eight ties is a Live Hall of Fame top ten derby between Mark, whose rank of 297 makes him the highest-placed remaining manager, and the 423-ranked My Pretty Pony (aka Peter Kouewenberg). While Mark has the rank advantage, Peter’s second placing in the Live Hall of Fame, compared to Mark’s sixth spot, could see him prevail.

Choppers13, who conquered Patio Kev in round five, takes on Team Fosu-Mensah, who is at 3,474 – 2,506 places behind his top 1,000-ranked opponent.

The third quarter-final looks likely to be another close affair, with Sleepysi ranked just 960 behind 1,192-placed Fouad Khan.

Given the current rank of the other six managers through, both 364,588-placed K3lviN and 229,821-ranked The Shaman will be breating a sigh of relief as they face each other in a clash of the competition’s lowest-ranked remaining managers by some distance.

The full quarter-finals draw can be found here.

Choppers13 is the Members cup’s highest ranked-manager – and the only one still in both competitions. He has, on the face of it, a far easier tie in the Members cup, when he takes on 132,642-ranked Barwood.

The giant-killing exploits of 46,996-placed rogerbarton have taken him into the quarter-finals. Fresh from seeing off an 88th-ranked Pukka in round four, Roger defeated 20,109-placed Dr Ennet in the final 16 to set up an encounter with aspern, another higher- ranked manager, who sits in 12,763,

Cheltnamshire lalala, who currently sits at 3,056 and defeated community writer Kryten in the last 16, will square up to 59,241-ranked Malaikat Jahad.

Elsewhere, 13,579-placed Dynamic is the favourite in his quarter-final tie with Thecrystalball, who is the contest’s lowest-ranked manager at 171,998.

The full quarter final round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes, click this link.

yes on wc. i would need the extra money to get Pedro (play 3 5 2). If I keep gabbiadini i would play 3 4 3

SAF said he's only managed 4 world class players: Cantona, Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo.

Where's the respect for Schmeichel, VDS, Keane, Beckham, Rio and Vidic? Schmeichel especially!!

      Beckham is hardly world class

His crossing and set-pieces were. But yeah, I can accept his omission. Schmeichel is the main surprising one. We all know SAF and Keane had a falling out.

he just doesn't think they were wc and to be frank that title is given far too easily nowadays. from your list only Keane should be added in my opinion.

That's fair, but Schmeichel was one of the best keepers of all time. Thought he deserved that high status of World Class.

      World class > very good

IMO Schmeichel was world class and Giggs was not. But that's how opinions work

Giggs is debateable, I'd go a little under world class, cultured winger.

Yup, one of the greatest goals that I've ever seen live, but still debateable whether he was world class or not. I would say no but very close.

Keane was definitely world class, carried that team by the scuff of the neck a lot of the time, that performance against Juve, wow!

He fell out with them didn't he. To say Schmichael wasn't world class is laughable and Keane was arguably the best midfielder in Europe for 3 years. I bet he was tempted not to include Ronaldo in that list.

Wasn't he a bit miffed when he left though? Since he's gone on to become who he now is, Fergie's all, yeah I did that.

He's given him the highest of praise on numerous occasions over the years since he left to be fair. Unlike most others that he actually fell out with.
I loved it in a Keane documentary when asked 'Who's the greatese manager that you ever played for?' Keane: long pause....'Without a shadow of a doubt....Brian Clough.' 🙂

Poch if he'd come. You'd have to think he'd jump at the chance.

But if thought that was Utd"s policy now. Moyes and LvG sacked after failing to get CL.

Even if that were true, it involves Chelsea losing a game, which I can't see happening.

Gabriel (not nailed, Mustafi back soon and Holding in mix)
Blind (not nailed, Mou more focused on EL; Smalling and Jones and Bailey and Valencia all back in training)

      TO
      Monreal (+ 1.0)
      Huth (-0.3)
Capoue (-0.4) or Morrison (-0.6) or Carroll (-0.8 - Swansea)

          Perhaps Darmian and Gabriel-->Holgate+Monreal/Vert
In your case I'd downgrade Gabbi to anichebe or something, and upgrade Lingard and Son (King and someone else?)

I see Holgate conceding in 2 of the 3 remaining, Let me play around and see who else I can do as Monreal/Vert would be a great upgrade.

Thanks for this! It makes it much better! Then maybe a double and -4 next week. Take out Gabbi and Son and load in Anich and Alli

11 or 12 of those are in just about every other team and the diffs are small fry. Seems to me that everyone it settling for their current rank 😉

Done with the differential experiment after captaining Gabbi & Negredo last 2 GWs. Wanted to cover the heavy hitters first. Anyways the small fries have some pretty good fixtures in GW37.

100 points behind the leader in my mini league currently in 2nd. Way ahead of 3rd so can afford risks. I have my WC and bench boost but guy in 1st doesn't.

He already has Redmond, Bertrand and Sanchez plus will get 3 more arse/Southampton players to have 6 in total.

Completely confused as to how I can gain 100+ points on him, do I bet against the players he has? do I get the same players and hope my differentials in other positions and my bench boost do the trick?

    Any ML advice welcomed!

Don't look at his team. Make the best team you can.

I made killer mistakes for years chasing my ML leader. In the end, it creates a bad approach. Focus on improving your own team and performance and you'll beat him this season or next (with lessons from this one).

100 points in 3 weeks is a big ask. If he plays safe he can expect to beat your score in at least one of those 3 weeks, so realistically you're looking at 100 points in 2 weeks.
The only way I can see that working is to avoid his key players in GW 36 and 37, bet against one of his heavily backed teams (no Soton players for example) and then take your own punt in the DgW.
In your shoes I d go triple City attack/mid in 37, De Bruyne, Aguero, Jesus. That will force you to shake up the rest of the team.

It is not likely to work but it could go very right and leave you within striking distance in GW38. Then you will need luck with a left field captaincy pick.

      Good luck!

Agreed- tbh the only reason I'm considering is because I feel a stronger starting XI over 3 weeks is better than Gabbiadini over Anichebe.

Please save me from endless WC fiddling.....

Main dilemma is Alonso and Monreal v Kos and Cahill. Costa must stay.

      Cech (Cabellero)
      Alonso Yoshida Monreal (Bavies) (Stephens)
Sanchez (c) Erikson Alli King (Capuoe)

out of those id probably go a.. except switch cech to callabero and anichebe to ayew (anichebe is almost a certain blank and ayew has assisted in his last 2)

        Koscielny Yoshi Maguire
        Sanchez Hazard(c) Eriksen King Sane
        Jesus Kane
