Fantasy Eliteserien – Gameweek 17 Preview

Gameweek 17 will be the last set of Eliteserien fixtures ahead of the league’s summer break. This mean means we can fully focus on Fantasy Premier League before wading back in to Norwegian top flight action next month.

This week Brann, Haugesund and Odd play Europa League qualifiers. Rosenborg played a Champions League qualifier this week, where drew 1-1 withDundalk, so watch out for rotation and injuries. Helland was subbed with an injury during the week and will most likely miss this weekends match against Sogndal.

FANTASY LEAGUE STANDINGS

Colmans Mustard remain top of the Fantasy Football Scout league, but an impressive gameweek score of 80 put Sangomango in second place, just six points behind.

On Giant’s Shoulders has taken the lead in the H2H league.

STOCK CHECK

Rising

Christoffer Remmer (5.4, Molde, defender)

He continues to impress in his wingback role with another assist and a clean sheet away to Aalesund. The Molde man is one of the hottest defenders in the game right now.

Aleksander Megalvis (4.6, Lillestrøm, defender)

Speaking of hot defenders, Megalvis is arguably the hottest of them all right. In his last match he earned a goal and an assist and was  unlucky to not earn a second assist and bonus points. He has now scored two goals (including a penalty) and four assists in the last five games as a right midfielder. Scorching.

Vegar Eggen Hedenstad (6.8, Rosenborg, defender)

Rosenborg haven’t improved at the back, but Hedenstad has beefed up his attacking returns with two goals against Sandefjord, as well as an assist in the Champions League qualifiers this week. With Helland ruled out with an injury this is set to hand Hedenstad a greater share of set pieces.

Erling Knudtzon (8.3, Lillestrøm, midfielder)

Knudtzon continues his impressive goal scoring run with another goal and seven fantasy points in his last run out.

Chigozie Udoji (5.8, Lillestrøm, midfielder)

Partnering Knudtzon up front this guy is going under the radar and is arguably a better value pick than Knudtzon. He’s scored nine points in his two last apperances.

Eirik Ulland Andersen (8.3, Strømsgodset, midfielder)

This man doesn’t stop impressing. Picking up another goal and assist last time out puts him among the top midfielders in the game, although he didn’t start the six first games.

Björn Bergmann Sigurdarson (10.1, Molde, forward)

The best player in Eliteserien right now? He’s certainly right up there. Two goals last weeks means he has now scored seven in the last eight.

Ohi Omoujianfo (7.8, Stabæk, forward)

After a goal against Sandefjord, he followed up with another against Brann. He could easily scored more.

Matthias Vilhjalmson (8.5, Rosenborg, forward)

Vilhjalmson continues to reward those who took a punt on him a while back. He notched eight points last time out and he’s scored 38 in his last five games. Although still not nailed in the team, he has surely done enough to guarantee a place in the starting XI.

Falling

Andreas Lie (5.2, Aalesund, goalkeeper)

Lie continues his fall after a zero pointer against Molde and his third yellow card of the season: he’s now suspended for next week.

Thomas Grøgaard (6.1, Odd, defender)

He’s still out injured and unsurprisingly is one of the most sold players this Gameweek.

Samuel Adegbenro (7.3, Viking, midfielder)

A disappointing blank in a great fixture against Sogndal dents his appeal further. He’s now facing Odd away next Gameweek, who barely concede goals. He’s also expected to leave in the summer break, although it isn’t certain yet.

Tonny Brochmann (7.0, Stabæk, midfielder)

Continuing his blank streak, he now has four blanks in a row.

Anders Trondsen (7.5, Sarspborg, midfielder)

The Sarpsborg midfielder is doing very well for Sarpsborg, but with no attacking returns in six games his Fantasy potential looks grim, even though he has picked up four bonus points over that period.

Daniel Braaten (7.2, Brann, midfielder)

The Brann midfielder missed the game against Stabæk with an injury and makes the “falling” list after blanking in the two previous Gameweeks as well.

Mos (8.9, Aalesund, forward)

Another disappointing week for the Aalesund attacker. He has now blanked in five of the last six Gameweeks.

DIFFERENTIALS FOR GAMEWEEK 16

Haris Hajradinovic (7.3, Haugesund, midfielder)

My top differential pick this week. He’s been doing well recently playing behind the striker for Haugesund and has a good fixture against Aalesund at home this week. Keep an eye on Haugesund’s Europa League qualifier tonight for injuries.

Chigozie Udoji (5.8, Lillestrøm, midfielder)

As mentioned above Udoji is a nice differential to Knudtzon. A good home fixture against Stabæk this gameweek.

Christoffer Remmer (5.4, Molde, defender)

The Molde wingback continues to impress and is up against Strømsgodset at home. Strømsgodset had their best half of football against Kristiansund last week, but their away record isn’t good. There could be potential clean sheet and attacking returns for the 3.1% who own him.

Bursaspor were apparently watching Adegbenro tear Odd apart last night and a bid is supposedly imminent. Viking have put a 1.5 million pounds price tag on him.

Zahid are openly stating that he wants a move abroad and says tonights game might be his last for Vålerenga. He also says if the right offer doesn't come in he'll stay.

Viking have already signed four new players and they are not done yet. Reiss Greenidge, a 20 year old centre back from Ebbsfleet United (fifth tier in England), have impressed during a trial at the club and might be the fifth signing of the summer. Apparently the club didn't know anything about him, but his agent paid for everything during the trial, so the club said "why not". Against all odds it now looks like he might get a chance at viking. He's 198 cm tall, a physical beast and decent technical skills. Apparently he beat all Viking players in a sprint test this week, including short distances. That's very impressive for a 198 cm tall guy. Sounds like an interesting player.

They could add even more new faces I think, especially if Adegbenro is sold.

Melgalvis has been given the assist. Fine by me, because I got him in my team but I think the decision is doubtfull to say the least. Would never been given in FPL.

I'll happily take the points. They give points based on data from OPTA, the same as in FPL, so I'm pretty sure it would have been given in FPL as well then.

Now I need 15 points tonight from McDermott instead of 18. A penalty save, a clean sheet, three bonus points and at least three saves. Should be no problem!?

I'm getting more points off my bench this round than all the other playing players managed to get.

Will be interesting to see how much of an impact 24 points will have on the overall rank.

The second part of the season will be what separates the wheat from the chaff.
Navigating the summer transfers, double game weeks and injury problems caused by the turf they play on will be the challenges to work out.

True, but this is the third time I had a massive haul on the bench. Could have made such a difference (previous Rolantsson 15 points and Seck 15 points and 18 points). If I knew Adegbenro would get a start as a striker I would never have benched him.

Wow, how did I not notice. I have noticed that he's much better against teams expected to dominate Viking, but he's not able to do much when they meet defensive minded teams, like Sogndal last gameweek.

Latest news on Leciejewski is Brann not keen on selling, but the polish club are still interested so we might see improved bids.

Viking very keen on Brann centre back Jonas Grønner, but Brann not keen on letting him go either. Interesting to see what happens there, would be a great signing for Viking if they can pull it off.

I was thinking about writing an article about the summer transfer window, who will leave and who will strengthen etc., but I think it's not worth it as there are probably not much interest before next GW and I haven't had much time with work and focusing on Tour de France manager (fantasy game). It's probably better to keep the transfer talk in the comment section and do a longer roundup/preview article ahead of GW18.

Brann out of Europa League after a 0-2 loss at home against Ruzomberok. They won 1-0 away and Brann were big favourites. Such a fail. I really wanted to see Everton tear them apart, as I live 100 metres from Brann stadion. Anyway, Brann have been looking clueless going forward the last couple of games and they will end up mid table at best unless something drastically changes soon. They're missing Braaten and his backup Vega, but still not impressive at all going forward.

Odd won 1-0 at home and 2-0 on aggregate. They meet Dinamo Zagreb in the next round.

Haugesund are currently 1-0 down against Lech Poznan after first half. 3-3 on aggregate, but Lech Poznan currently through with two away goals.

Haugesund lost 2-0 and are out. Abdi got sent off after 76 minutes.

Odd and Rosenborg still in European competitions, but they are massive underdogs in the next round. The return fixtures will be played midweek before next gameweek, but there will be no further complications as long as they don't go through. If they managed to get through I wouldn't be surprised if we see another blank for one of these teams.

Latest on Adegbenro is that Rosenborg and Molde have put in bid, but still interest from abroad. Viking prefer to sell him abroad, but will sell to other Norwegian clubs if the bid is good enough.

Viking are selling Mets abroad too, so they are in the market for another CB. Might buy another striker and central midfielder as well, but depending on Adegbenro.

Pretty frustrating night but with no Dembele or Griffiths meant no real goal threat tonight. Sinclair very quiet. Thought Hedenstad was very solid - had a good game. Agree with MTPOCKETS - Vilhjalmsson should have started - Bedtner is a big streak of Pish - but in the end delighted that was Rosenborgs tactics as we didn't lose an away goal. Other than that decision thought Rosenborg got their game plan spot on. Hopefully Bedtner starts again next week - but Griffiths needs to turn on the magic!

Vegard Forren has signed for Molde. Big boost for their defence.

I have only seen him play in the international team many years ago. What is his form like now he is older?

Might write an article on the game. Should attract everyone who have a 3 million GW1 rank on FPL and are depressed. 😀
