Has no one considered that VVD has been out injured for a long long time, and has only really been seen as a good centre back for a couple of seasons. People going on like he's the new Maldini.

Definitely a massive price I cannot defend that. But you have to bare in mind
a) Walker cost £50m so changes the market.
b) Pool pissed off Saints and scuppered a cheaper deal.
Also if Alderweireld was on the market not, he'd be going for similar money. Kosc isn't a top defender, let's keep it mature.
Agreed. I just don't see the value unless Liverpool sort out the rest of the back 4, and they'll be blowing the available funds there. Full backs aren't good and I seem to be in the minority in thinking Matip is very average
I do agree to an extent. I'm not a massive fan of the fullbacks and Matip. But VVD is a must for me. We can continue building the defence in future windows.
Not to mention both goalkeepers are borderline shite.. the pressure about to be heaped on to Van Dijk's shoulders is going to be absolutely immense.. much like Pogba had to deal with every touch and pass scrutinised
I'm a Red and I think Matip is very average.
Personally I think he is the best CB in the league, I think he oozes class and would be a serious signing for any of the top teams.

I was at the Chelsea game and Morata spends so little time on the last man that it concerns me a bit for fantasy purposes. Combine that with early subs and I'm not overly convinced

I can't help thinking these transfer prices are hiding something more nefarious. I reckon it'll come out in a few years that clubs are using these inflated figures to avoid tax or pay backhanders to senior club management or something. The luiz back and forth at stupid prices in particular.

Sakho is a good player but top drawer? not a chance.. there's a reason he's signing for Crystal Palace no disrespect to them btw.. i watched Sakho at times particularly against United in the EL a couple of seasons agao and he was unplayable.. absolutely sensational both legs and a week later he was all over the shop.. you need consistency from a CB and he doesn't bring that imo
