The Big Numbers – Gameweek 3

We turn to the Opta data next for our regular post-Gameweek check on the top performers over the weekend for members.

A host of midfielders catch the eye this week, with assets from Liverpool, Spurs, Leicester and Stoke all impressing. The growing influence of Burnley’s playmaker is also highlighted as we also check in on Manchester City’s left-back debutant at the Vitality Stadium.

Ben Mee to 4.4 would be a nice little saving for a defender with nice home fixtures and goal threat.

Grrrr. I just want my 4th/5th defender to play every week and not fall in price. But Mee and Suttner are tumbling toward price falls.

Think he's basically stalled out at about 80% to a fall. Nobody's buying him (700 transfers in this week) but not too many are selling him (1700 out).

I don't think he'd be part of their best 11, even assuming Coutinho is gone. Can/Wijnaldum/Lallana is a better midfield trio IMO. He'd be a decent depth piece because of his versatility.

Surely Chelsea & Liverpool are both only in for him to have extra depth in their squads because of Europe.

Not sure he improves what they have, or if he will get the game time he wants, but he is a hard working "Klopp" style player so it could work out for both parties. And £40m is a great price for Arsenal to cash in at.

Enjoying checking FPL stats and seeing Kane getting further away from dropping! Need him to cling on for as long as possible; and hopefully score a few goals for England to remind the casuals that he is good (I need to use this week's wildcard to sell KDB)

I honestly couldn't care less if Kane falls. He's in my team for a long time now with those fixtures coming up. As long as he isn't injured then his price doesn't matter.

I think you'd be better off replacing Zaba & Mbemba with two £4.5m defenders who rotate well personally. West Ham are toxic at the moment, you don't want to be relying on them to turn their form around, and Mbemba will be back on the bench soon when others return to fitness.

So this is either guna be a great move or its guna come back to bite me. And unlike most people im keeping faith in kane. But goin with a team without lukaku. This is my team

    Foster

    Valencia, luiz, cedric

    David silva, tadic, pogba, hazard

    Kane, hernandez, firmino

    Bench: elliot, mbemba, carroll, rangel

Kaku will return same amount of goals as Kane but costs less to own. Silva is looking promising but if the results don't come, KDB will be pushed forward and Silva won't be sharing the space.

Until Hazard settles I would definitely rather have Salah or Mane.

Your team is great for in about 4-5 weeks time but I would be worried on losing points until Hazard, Kane, Silva settle.

It is a great team and by Christmas we could all want Kane and Hazard but I think its a risk before they are actually firing.

I held on to Kane and a couple other players knowing they would start firing at some point, I am now 60 points off the top of my league!

Man City have CPL, STO, BUR all at home in the next 6 gameweeks.

They could score somewhere between 9-15 goals in these 3 fixtures alone (ignoring the fact they've not been overly free scoring so far). Some attacking coverage will be essential.

Perhaps, but they're going to average more than 1.66 goals per game but the end of the season.
They beat palace 5-0 last year, watford away 5-0 last year. They averaged about 3 goals a game against bottom half teams at home last season. Only bad result was 0-0 against stoke in double game week

    3. Football Weekender
      • 7 Years

All three of those teams will park the bus and City have struggled to break down teams doing that at the Etihad. They usually win but don't blow teams away. I'd be more confident of big attacking returns away from home.

15 perhaps too optimistic. But 9-10 certainly possible.
Would it be a surprise if they scored 3 vs Burnley, 3 vs stoke and 4 vs palace?

        1. Cok3y5murf
          • 7 Years

Burnley were solid against Chelsea and Spurs, it's not the Burnley away form we saw last season.

I only watched Stoke against Arsenal and they looked quite good too. Don't see 3 there.

Palace have lost all their games, but I mean, it never feels reasonable to predict 4 goals, it's always a bold prediction, but I guess it's possible.

Even then, why bother with coverage, especially in City? When Spurs have good fixtures as well. City is a minefield. Are you going to pick Jesus? No one knows if anyone is nailed in that team. And would you even captain him? I currently have Jesus and am just waiting for the opportunity to get rid of him. If the goals are spread out, no one is a good pick. Jesus has to be involved in almost all their goals to be worth his price. Don't worry about coverage. Go for the players that are always amongst the points in every team.

jesus has to be involved in al their goals? thats not true at all hes a great pick at his price as long as he is nailed and thats the problem. Im still not convinced hes not though. Cant really read much into the fact he was taken off when they had ten men imo.

Darlow was on the bench for the first two and played in the Carabao cup. He isn't really a threat. I have Elliot as only playing GK and waiting a bit nervously if Benitez signs another one. If on a wildcard you should probably look long term and someone who plays to partner him.

Nope. Not that I support his actions if, as you say and I have no reason to doubt you whatsoever, he went for the medical against club rules but I imagine the guy is fed up to the teeth.

The first time they announced they needed to sign a better striker it signaled the end for his loyalty imo. Think a transfer request followed quite soon after? Terrible state of affairs everywhere. Still can't understand turning both goalies against the club by bringing in Hart (and subsequently losing Randolph).

The trouble is, he started it, with his "back trouble". Slav got the hump.

Later, Slav forgave him, but the physios struggled to get him anywhere near fit enough, until now.

If you were in our situation, you would HAVE to sign another striker.

The only predictable thing about our beloved Hammers is the extent that they are guaranteed to go to pot once they get beaten once. An opening day defeat away had a knock-on effect for confidence for two more consecutive away games and before you know it the team is a shambles.

To be fair, no team should ever have to start a season with three away games. It's such a confidence game and it's tough with a schedule like that.

Nothing to do with it. Everything to do with the sentimental board purchase of Hart.

Yeah. Adrián, as senior player, and Noble were the bedrock of the players discipline. Why we got out of trouble, last Season.

Is it true that Noble is the dimmest player in the Prem? I heard that once. Not to take anything (much) away from him as he seems like a decent cove.

Sanches has been noted for his versatility in midfield, being comfortable in defensive, attacking, central and wide roles. His attributes include physical strength, passing ability, and being composed in possession. For these traits and his hairstyle, he has been likened to the Dutchman Edgar Davids.
