The Gameweek 4 Team News

Jurgen Klopp confirms that Philippe Coutinho may be lacking match fitness for Liverpool’s trip to Man City. Kieran Trippier is available for Spurs’ clash with Everton but Stoke City look set to be without skipper Ryan Shawcross for the visit of Man United.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has conceded that Philippe Coutinho looks sharp in training after featuring for Brazil over the break. But the midfielder may need to build up his match sharpness ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Man City.

Arsene Wenger will check on late arrivals such as Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey following their international exploits, although it’s anticipated they’ll be available for selection for the home encounter with Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe revealed Simon Francis is expected to be back in contention for the trip to the Emirates following a hamstring injury.

Chris Hughton is expects strikers Tomer Hemed (thigh) and Glenn Murray (ankle) to be fit for Brighton’s home meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Baggies head coach Tony Pulis has revealed that new arrivals Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kieran Gibbs are lacking match fitness, admitting he has a “big decision to make” about starting them. He also added there are one or two knocks in the squad, but didn’t reveal any names.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has stated that Wayne Rooney will feature at home to Spurs. Jordan Pickford has recovered from the injury that forced him to withdraw from England duties.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Kieran Trippier “is available” to face Everton, though new boy Serge Aurier is less certain to feature.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has no injury concerns for the visit of Watford, with defender Virgil van Dijk now back training with the first-team squad.

Marco Silva revealed Younes Kaboul (leg), Daryl Janmaat (muscle problem) and Roberto Pereyra (groin) have all returned to training for Watford over the past few days, with the former two more likely to be available at St Mary’s.

Ryan Shawcross is set to miss Stoke City’s home encounter against Manchester United with a fresh back injury, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be assessed, having picked up a hamstring problem during the international break.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement anticipates that new arrivals Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches will both be involved against Newcastle United. Jordan Ayew has recovered from illness.

And Eden Hazard could be set for his first league appearance of the season as Chelsea make their way to Leicester – the winger played 91 minutes for Belgium over the break after finally recovering from an ankle complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    2FT's. Any advice?
Didn't want to run the risk of injuries so still have the likes of KDB in my team.

    Foster
    Yoshida - Dann - Jones
Willian - Salah - De Bruyne - Mhikitaryan
    Abraham - Lukaku - Kane

    Elliot - Carroll - Francis - Long

And play him instead of Dann !!!

That's not a typo, right? YOu really have Dann in your team?

No typo I'm afraid. He's there alright.

Team's been scoring relatively well but as you can see, there's a few weaknesses...

          Thanks for the Naughton tip.

your team is quit ok, you saying it yourself your scoring alright that what you want. imo palace even got a chance of a CS against burney despite the form they are in, de boar gonna work on that and with sakho perhaps playing they will have a chance for that. The only thing is that you got 2 Ft's it would be clever to use one to try to update a player.
and my best advice would be KDB needs to go, he plays way deep but which player to choose is up to you perhaps ahain a player you think score more points good luck Atwood

I would wildcard that team tbh. Too much money in two strikers, Abraham may be in trouble with Bony, Willian and KdB need changing, defence is very weak.

Start with downgrading one of your big strikers for firmino

Nooo, not WC material, not yet IMHO

He only needs 11 starters, not 15.

Id stick with Abraham for a few weeks. Bony's not fit, and on last years example, never will be.

Willian and KDB will probably need moving on, but just get Naughton in for this week, and wait to see how the land lies for next week's 11

Don't wildcard yet - it is a decent side and Abraham will start this weekend. I'd do kdb out for mane and dann for a Burnley, brighton or Swansea defender

      1. Atwood

        6 years, 9 months ago

Yeah, I'm not going to wildcard. Would rather take a hit if needed.

I was thinking KDB out for either Mane or one of Eriksen/Alli. And then doing exactly the second move you suggested.

        Cheers for the advice

His underlying stats are superb, especially considering he has played away to Chelsea and Spurs in the first 3 games. Also, they have a fantastic run of home games, he's on set pieces, playing as a playmaker, and perhaps most importantly - is an attractive enabler at his cheap price.

This is my concern. We don't really know anything about how well Chris Wood is going to do and as Brady is not a prolific goalscorer this is going to be important. He's basically a 2017 Robert Snodgrass isn't he, albeit in a slightly different position. Could work out very well but I would always want attackers from teams who are prolific and it's too early to say whether Burnley have changed their approach

  6. Don_Vito_Mannone

    Wildcard team:

    Foster/Elliot

    Jones/Cedric/Davies - Naughton and Long

    Alexis/Salah/Pogba/Brady - Carroll

    Kane/Firmino/Chicarito

£0.7m in the bank, possibly to go Cedric -> Bertrand, or to increase Long to a playing £4.5m DEF, or maybe something else?

Any thoughts on 1) the team overall and 2) what to do with the extra cash?

Sanchez + Firmino over Alli + Lukaku is the risk.

    Thank you. 🙂

Unsure of whether to make a transfer or save which would give better options and 2FTs for GW5.

        A. Save, play Carroll v Newcastle (H),
        B. JWP to Brady v Palace (H) or Brunt v Brighton (A), or
        C. JWP and Kun to Pogba v Stoke (A) and Firmino v City (A) (-4)?

I'm tempted to save and re-allocate some funds to midfield in GW5. What would you go for?
