Dugout Discussion – Crystal Palace vs Southampton

After Bournemouth edged past Brighton at the Vitality last night, Gameweek 5 continues with seven Saturday fixtures to entertain us.

To get us underway, Crystal Palace take on Southampton at 12.30pm in Roy Hodgson’s first match at the helm.

With no goals and no clean sheets in their four fixtures under Frank de Boer, the only way is up for the Eagles.

And with clashes against both Manchester clubs and Chelsea in the subsequent three Gameweeks, they desperately need a result.

Encouragingly for Palace, Southampton conceded more headed attempts than any other side in the opening four Gameweeks.

This could potentially be the perfect time for Christian Benteke to break his scoring duck for the season – indeed, over 46,000 FPL managers have captained the Belgian, who netted twice against the Saints in the corresponding match last term.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek owners can breathe a sigh of relief as the on-loan midfielder recovers from injury to be handed a first start since Gameweek 2.

After failing to score in three of their first four matches under Mauricio Pellegrino, our faith in the visitors is starting to wane.

Manolo Gabbiadini owners will now surely be looking for an exit route as he drops to the bench ahead of next week’s clash with Man United, with Shane Long handed a first start of the season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hope Manquilo comes as substitute at 29th minute and Newcastle keep clean sheet.

Barring injuries, to avoid a seemingly inevitable price drop to Stephens, after todays' games would you do:

Stephens & Willian > Kola & Gross, -4 (I cannot make that beta type symbol on my American keyboard). I am not thrilled about trading early or trading for a guy who has yet to play and who could get injured, yet feel my hand is a bit forced, and Kola is a prime target.

    Thanks

If you have the exact money that's a decent trade.

      High risk high reward.

I'm not sure he'll drop tonight. Prices been slow to change. I'd wait on it. Chances are other options will emerge from Watford/WBA games possibly. I'm waiting on him till tomorrow night.

I can tell from that post match interview that Woy is a doomed appointment. I can see him getting sacked before the January window. What are these clubs thinking. Roy is not exactly known to be an impact manager.

Quick early thoughts on next week's options for me (before we're influenced by scorelines and FPL returns)?

    A) Jesus (CRY) + Mkhi (sou)
    B) Morata (sto) + Mkhi (sou)
    C) Morata (sto) + Sanchez (WBA) (-4)

He's also £1.5m more in a side that looks anything but consistent.

He might have KBD or other?

          City coverage is a minefield.

I'll have Jesus for next game mind you.

Coverage doesn't change the points Jesus or Morata will get...

I only have Mendy, but that shouldn't affect the decision, thanks 🙂

A or C... No need to rush in Morata even though I did IT because before his first 0.1 rise.. The bandwagon caught me off guard and what is even worse, I got rid of Jesus to do so...

I have 0.1 spare, but I could use that the following week to upgrade Cedric to Maguire maybe

True. It's not an essential move, but Maguire currently looking to have more attacking threat. Cedric not even the bonus machine he was last season. I'd like to keep the door open, at least
