Technical Area – Budget Midfield Options

One key to a successful Fantasy season has always been the early discovery of a midfield gem.

The 2015/16 season saw Riyad Mahrez rise from relative obscurity to the heights of a 240-point season, while last campaign, Josh King’s 16 goals powered many Fantasy line-ups to the top of their respective mini-leagues.

After seven Gameweeks, we are beginning to accumulate sufficient data to begin making more confident assertions regarding a player’s underlying performance metrics.

This international break is, therefore, an ideal time to evaluate the potential candidates for the title of must-have budget midfielder this time around.

It also gives us the chance to roll out – for the first time in Technical Area – data on expected goals (xG) and assists (xA), a new source of information which will soon be available to our members.

          agreed, i'd stick to City attack and Chelsea defence for now. Hazard only option from Chels attacking wise as Bats isn't rated by Conte and who knows if Pedro / Willian start.

          I've gone 3 city attackers on my wild card but squeezed in Haz too.

    Knee ligament injury recovery time:

    We will have to wait for scan to know whether it is grade one, two or three. However, grade one is a two week healing time, and six weeks before it is as strong as it was. This means the player, in this case Fellaini, will look at two weeks out, and four more weeks with limited game time. This is just a minimum. If the injury is more severe, more weeks will be added to the recovery time.

    Hopefully this helps in your transfer decisions, peeps.

        Morata update:

        He has a grade two hamstring injury, with up to six weeks recovery time. There have been several articles/stories about his instagram activity, where you can see him ride a bike. This makes people believe he is recovering faster. However, riding a bike is the only cardio practice he can do without doing more damage to his hamstring. As such, him riding a bike tells me that he is doing his recovery training, and makes me believe that it is all he is allowed to do atm.

        Hence, expected time of return is still six weeks approx from time of trauma. That means about 4-5 weeks from now, I guess.

        Tl;dr: Sell Morata - pictures of him on bike does NOT mean he is recovering sooner than anticipated.

      FYI:

      Grade two looks at six weeks before being able to train effectively again. Grade three - three to four months. If grades are to abstract, think of it as light sprain, moderate sprain and severe sprain to the ligament.

    Prokoptus- nice article. After my 2 FTs of Jones, KDB< Azpi, Sterling I will have exact funds to go Atsu to Choupo- Moting next game week and ride out his fixtures for a bit.
