Dugout Discussion – Burnley vs Newcastle

The Gameweek finale falls on Turf Moor, for a Monday night encounter under the lights between Burnley and Newcastle United.

Fantasy interest is limited, in the main, to the defensive players on show. That’s a good thing scanning the statistics building up to this match.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets have scored the fewest home league goals this season, with just two efforts. But his defence have been typically miserly: only Liverpool and Manchester United have allowed fewer goals than the two conceded by Burnley.

Meanwhile, Newcastle arrive boasting just three away goals, only Everton and Crystal Palace have scored fewer.

Their goalkeeper, Rob Elliot, is the most owned player on show this evening. Now part of 26.4% of squads, the Magpies custodian trails only David De Gea (39.2%) in that respect. However, some 62% of Elliot’s 1.4 million owners keep him on the bench for Gameweek 10.

Stephen Ward has become the go-to option in the Burnley defence. The left-back is now owned by 14.7% of managers having already produced a goal and two assists this season, alongside three clean sheets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Most of us want to save an FT for IB however if Kane is fit for CRY he surely must be transferred in and capped?

I'm keeping him as long as he is fit for Arsenal game. Transfer him out and in again will cost 2 FTs.

Agree on the Luiz idea. Could also opt for Courtois if you want to change things up. Cheaper than Luiz and allows for a an extra defender spot.

    Fabianski - (Elliot)
    Otamendi - Monreal - Davies - (Mbemba) - Ward
    Coutinho - Hazard - Silva - Richarlison - (Cork)
    (Kane) - Morata - Joselu (0.9, 1 FT)

I was thinking of moving Joselu to Abraham or Diouf, thoughts on this? What other changes would you make?

I think re Lukaku, Kun is a superior option and if Kun has to get the boot due to playing time I feel there could be more value in downgrading Kaku to Morata and using funds to get DDG for Fabianski.

Over the next 3 no but longer term yes. The circumstances they are in are pretty similar, defensive managers (United's goal tally flatters them), both clinical. So I'd expect them to post similar goal stats come the end of the season.

Chelsea’s fixtures from gw 14 to 21 are outstanding. Morata and DDG + Jones must be one of the best value set ups you can have through that run.

Cheers, that’s what I’m currently on. But Atsu and Stones on the bench seems a waste

So Bavies, Kante and Kane out to Firmino, Gross and Ward foe (-8) worked out beautifully.. Me thinks.

Yeah fair re defence. I’ve kept Davies and will continue to monitor but obviously not getting rid before palace at home lol. Think whatever Kane does tomorrow (play or not) he will do the same at the weekend ahead of an international break

Ben Mee what a guy! Put me back on top of my ML 😀
I'll be so happy if Kane passes fitness this week, my entire ML sold him so I feel the Palace game could really hurt them!

Anyone else manage to hold their position firm with 12.6m on the bench?
