Dugout Discussion – Newcastle vs Man City

The penultimate match of Gameweek 20 gets underway at this evening as Newcastle United welcome league leaders Manchester City to St James’ Park.

Up against a defence with just a single clean sheet in 15 attempts, Pep Guardiola’s side boast three of the top ten captains for this round of fixtures.

Significantly Sergio Aguero – their most backed armband pick (6.2%) – is again chosen to lead the line and makes his fourth successive Premier League start. Gabriel Jesus warms the bench yet again, then.

Kevin De Bruyne (4.2%) and Raheem Sterling (3.1%) are also handed starts, though both have some way to go to match Harry Kane’s 17-point haul at home to Southampton yesterday.

Nonetheless, the pair arrive on Tyneside in fine form. De Bruyne has three goals and two assists in City’s previous six, with three sets of 10+ points hauls during that run.

Meanwhile, Sterling – the top target in midfield for Gameweek 20, with over 173,00 new owners – has served up 34 points in three, courtesy of three goals and a trio of assists.

David Silva’s ongoing personal issues means he misses out for the second time in three matches, however, with Ilkay Gundogan partnering De Bruyne in the centre of the park in his absence. Leroy Sane is also on the timber despite his early withdrawal against Bournemouth last time out – he’s now started just four of the last seven Gameweeks.

    What's your opinion on this move?

    This GW: Pogba ➡ Lingard for free
    Next GW: Sane+Morata ➡ Son+Kane for -4

    If Sane or Daniels fall before Saturday, I may need to downgrade Daniels to a max 4.6 to allow the move above. Which one would you recommend?

    So, triple captain strategies. Who is playing it this DGW and who will play it for one of the larger ones later in the year when there are more options? I think if people did it for this one the obvious candidate is Kane. The problem is, despite (very!) good (very!) recent form, Spurs have been a bit up and down this season and I still don't feel 100% TC him. I will use the free hit chip for the blank GW, the second WC just before and the BB during the DGW. What is everybody else's strategy for the TC?

      Two hat tricks back to back, league is very much alive (concerning the so important CL spots at least) and the fixtures are great.

      Can’t see how I’d be able to forgive myself if I didn’t TC and Kane goes crazy again.

    I know it's one GW too early, but I think there should be a hot topic about Triple captaining Kane for the DGW.

    Although I don't feel the urge to do it as I'm already ahead in my MLs and sitting at 90k overall..

    Got burnt by Aguero last year and don't want to go through it again..

    On the other hand, Kane just had 2 match balls as Christmas presents, the guy is on fire..

      I need something to get my season going and I feel this double could be it.

      Left it to late last year and ran out of GWs to win my mini leagues.

      If this one goes wrong, plenty of time and other chips to pull it back

      So think it’s worth the gamble ‘early on’

      Absolutely yes, it's very seldom you get a player as explosive as Kane in a DGW with 2 great fixtures, on red hot form so hes not going to snatch at chances... This one is a no brainier for me. Each to their own though
