Dugout Discussion – Spurs vs West Ham

The final round of festive fixtures comes to its conclusion at Wembley Stadium as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham play the second match of their double Gameweek 22.

Much to our collective relief, Harry Kane returns to the hosts’ starting line-up after producing just a single point from his 22 minutes off the bench at Swansea on Tuesday night.

It’s fair to say that the Fantasy Premier League hopes of many managers rely on the Spurs striker this evening.

Not only is he the top captain pick for the Gameweek (24.2%), a hefty 121,000+ Triple Captain chips have been wielded on Kane in light of back-to-back hat-tricks in his previous two starts.

The allure of a double Gameweek has also boosted in interest in Spurs midfield trio Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. All three join Kane on the teamsheet and are also among the top 13 armband picks for Gameweek 22.

The top transfer target for Gameweek 22, with 498,000+ new owners, Son has scored in five of Tottenham’s last six at Wembley, totalling 57 points over those matches.

Eriksen and Alli, meanwhile, bagged an assist and goal respectively in Tuesday’s win at Swansea to continue their improved form.

The Dane has supplied points in six of his last seven outings, while Alli has two goals and four assists in his previous three.

At the back, Ben Davies earns successive starts for the first time since Gameweek 16 as Danny Rose misses out with a knee complaint again.

The big news for the Hammers is that Marko Arnautovic is sidelined with a minor hamstring problem.

Drafted in by over 368,000 for his pair of fixtures, he ends double Gameweek 22 on five points, having earned the assist for Andy Carroll’s late winner against West Brom.

Carroll’s two goals in the Baggies’ clash isn’t enough to keep his role in the XI, though – he drops to the bench as Chicharito leads the line instead.

The Mexican and Manuel Lanzini – who has supplied four assists in his previous five – carry the main threat to a defence that’s looking for their tenth clean sheet of the season.

    Luke Shaw at 4.9m will he play every week or Smalling at 5.3m?

      Mourinho never shuts up about how much he hates the kid. Doubtful Shaw gets minutes when Valencia and Young are back.

    Anyone captaining City players this weekend? Hard to know what Liverpool shows up and they have pretty much scored on everyone anyways. 5-0 again?

      I've got KDB and Sterling but I'm going to play it safe and cap Alonso. I have an aversion to captaining players against strong teams, esp away from home. My only realistic alternative next GW is Son.

    Who is everyone looking at as the best defenders from GW25 onwards? All of the big teams face each other and have mixed schedules with relatively short strings of good fixtures. And most lower teams also have mixed fixtures, or in cases like Stoke are just absolutely woeful.

    Need to sell in order to get Pogba/Lingard in against Stoke and free up funds.
    Wanted to get rid of Son - don't like Son as a player, but he seems the profitable selfish FPL type. Should I offload the Spurs players?

      Tuff to call mate even i am confused.

      i was considering
      Son > Manu Mid
      Alli > KDB

      But its complicated
      Pogba Vs Stoke is appealing but then his positioning with Lukakus return
      Alli and Son are scoring of late but soon the fixtures are turning bad
      KDB usually scores well against big teams but will soon get rested

        As a Utd fan, i've noticed whenever Mourinho strikes a winning formula, he rarely deviates from it. Reckon the lone striker will return to lukaku, with pogba playing the same. Maybe that might help with decisions.

        yeah those are the same moves im thinking, but indeed complicated. cheers

    Pickford Speroni
    Jones Alonso Ottamendi Ogbonna Kenny
    Salah Sterling Arnautovic Son Alli
    Kane Crouch DCL

    2M ITB and 1 FT

    Having tripple Spurs assets. Considering many options:

    A) If Arna not fit then Arna -> Pogba (not sure he will be pushed back with Lukakus return)
    B) Alli -> KDB
    C) Son -> Pogba and Alli -> KDB (-4)
    D) Son -> Lingard and Alli -> Sanchez (C) (-4)

    The Aguero effect is going to stop me from getting Alonso back in.

    Alonso has been overachieving xg.

    Aguero is the most influential player in terms of xg+xa combined and now he is basically nailed on.

    I have Christensen as cover for Chelsea. Surely getting Aguero in is the more intelligent move?

      Not impressed by either option, but if you already have Firmino it's not a major team structure change getting in Aguero so would do it yes.

          Read Mark's thoughts on Kun possible rest and Jesus return. Sounds like it might be a very short window of being nailed on. Most have Sterling anyway. I have Sane as well. And Alonso.

          Nah. 1 double digit haul in his past 11 games played. He could be about to turn it around, but honestly Sterling is a great captaincy option as it is. He certainly is an option, but not one to rip up a team for at this moment in time imo.

          Of course, as in all things, I could be wrong 😉

    FH Chip = 69pts
    Kept my team and used 2 x FT = 48pts

    21pts gain, that's decent right?

        Had 2 x FT before last GW, which I would have used (Hennessey & Hazard > Lloris & Alli), if not using FH.

        Now back to one FT for next week....
