Spot The Differential – Gameweek 24

Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe and West Bromwich Albion’s Ahmed Hegazi proved successful punts last week and we’re continuing to seek out value options who can help catapult Fantasy managers up the rankings.

A trio of midfielders have taken our fancy for Gameweek 24, with all three carrying good form into favourable match-ups.

Marc Albrighton

A goal and three assists over the last five Gameweeks means Leicester City’s Marc Albrighton enters this afternoon’s promising home fixture against Watford in good nick.

Despite the fierce competition for attacking spots, Albrighton has started each of the last six and has been influential in the recent revival under Claude Puel.

Indeed, he has been involved in 50% of the Foxes goals since Puel arrived, and has also supplied more successful crosses (16) than any team-mate.

While he has only produced seven shots over the same spell, two of those have been big chances, which is more than fellow midfielders Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray (both one).

So for those who are struggling to afford the in-form Algerian for their five-man midfields, Albrighton’s 5.6 price tag in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) should be easier to accommodate.

Watford travel to the King Power Stadium without a clean sheet in 10 attempts and lost 3-0 in the corresponding fixture last season, with Albrighton on the scoresheet that day.

Only four teams have conceded more big chances than the Hornets (10) over the last four Gameweeks, while Leicester have scored five goals in their last two home encounters, so they look primed for another strong showing in front of their own fans.

Part of only 3.3% of squads, Albrighton can deliver great value over the next six Gameweeks, with further favourable home clashes against Swansea City, Stoke City and Bournemouth to follow.

Manuel Lanzini

Marko Arnautovic is the most transferred-in player in FPL this week, but we shouldn’t forget about his team-mate Manuel Lanzini.

The Argentine plundered 14 points in last weekend’s 4-1 victory over Huddersfield Town and edges Arnautovic in a number of statistical categories over their respective last four matches.

Lanzini has bettered the Austrian for both shots (10 to nine) and efforts in the box (eight to five), while the pair are level for efforts on target, with five apiece.

The in-form Hammers host Bournemouth at the London Stadium this afternoon.

No team has given up more big chances than Eddie Howe’s side (11) over the last four Gameweeks and they shipped three goals when the two clubs met back in Gameweek 20.

With the upcoming fixtures (BOU CRY bha WAT) favourable for David Moyes’s men, there is even a case for a midfield double-up of both Lanzini and Arnautovic.

At 6.8 in FPL, Lanzini is another mid-price midfield option who can defy his price tag during this upcoming stretch.

He has an ownership of only 2.8% in FPL and further double-digit hauls like the one he produced in Gameweek 23 would certainly be hugely beneficial for those Fantasy managers who need to reduce mini-league deficits.

Anthony Martial

For those whose budgets can stretch that bit further, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial is an intriguing short-term option.

The France international, who is available for 8.0, is owned by just 2.6% of FPL managers despite becoming increasingly influential for Jose Mourinho’s side.

He will take his strong form into this afternoon’s trip to Burnley, having registered two goals and an assist over the last two Gameweeks and producing more shots (eight) than any of his team-mates.

Martial has racked up an impressive eight goals and five assists from just 12 starts this season, and his tally of 98 points is already better than the 95 he managed last term.

Although the Clarets have been resolute at home, conceding only eight goals, five of those have come in recent home defeats to Spurs and Liverpool.

The former Monaco player will also have fond memories of his previous trip to Turf Moor – he produced a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win in the corresponding fixture last season.

With his confidence levels up and perhaps extra motivation gained from the impending arrival of Alexis Sanchez, this may be a good time to take a risk on Martial.

Think the abundance of midfield options has something to do with this. And he's probably the most dispensable mid from peoples' midfields. Also, Pogba looking an equally (if not more) enticing option from that team and the arrival of Sanchez might mean Lingard gets shunted out?

    Adrian
    Alonso Otamendi Jones
    Salah Sterling Son Arnie Lingard
    Kane Firmino

likely to pay off. but i wouldnt be surprised if son manages to score 1 or 2 against MU liv ARS.

liverpool and arsenal defence are vulnerable at times and spurs fighting for cl spots against these teams thye'll be really fired up. case of form over fixture could apply (son 6 goals 5 assists in lat 9 matches)

      De Gea
      Kenny - Christensen - Otamendi - Alonso
      Salah - KDB - Hazard - Sterling
      Firmino - Crouch

Is anyone else considering going with Arnie captain? Bournemouth have conceded 8 goals in their last 3 away games.

And obviously Arnie scored a brace against them a few weeks ago. It's very tempting,

    posting again.

I don't understand the 'Pickford' craze. Everton's next games are
    24. West Brom (H) > likely clean sheet
    25. Leicester (H) > unlikely clean sheet
    26. Arsenal (A) > highly unlikely clean sheet
    27. Crystal palace (H) too far out to say but possible CS
    28. Watford (A) too far out to say unlikely CS

I have Courtois but need to switch him, Adrian has better fixtures than Pickford but Ederson has the best next 4 fixtures.
Is it just the BGW28 consideration why everyone is switching to Pickford?
    What else am i missing?

Picks up a lot save points. Guaranteed starter and quite cheap. Also Baps magnet in a big Sam team because he'll have a relatively high pass completion rate. Big Sam teams tend not to especially in defense. Having said that I'm sticking with DDG for now.

Can't blame me, can you? I downgraded him seven weeks ago to Christensen, he's scored 6-14 points in all seven gameweek since then. 🙁

Emerson will for sure get some games but I'm not nervous for rotation yet. May look to downgrade him in a couple of weeks

Emerson has played 15mins of football this season, not exactly rating to go!

    Lingard to Mahrez?
    Or save the FT?

      I would

Probably the only scenario whereby I'd lose Lingard but only because I'm taking future fixtures into consideration.

What do you want to know?

I can tell you Hazard will play, Morata won't.

      Willian will play, Pedro won't.

      Caballero will play, Courtois won't.

      Christensen will play, Cahill won't.

Anything else I can help you with? 🙂

    Schmeichel (Begovic)
    Otamendi Alonso Gomez (Kelly Long)
    Salah Sterling Son Arnie (RCL)
    Kane Aguero Ayew

Have 1 FT and 0.5m in the bank, tempted by Son to Mahrez but unsure. In a couple of gameweeks planning to swap Aguero for Firmino and use the freed up funds on bringing in Shaqiri for RLC and swapping Long for a better defender.

    Any thoughts?

I had a dream that Manuel Lanzini played for Chelsea and scored a stunning goal.
Based on that, I am not swapping Lingard out for Lanzini

Do we think Son is going to deliver against Southampton? I really fancy West Ham to do well against Bournemouth, but I'm not sure going with Arnie captain is the right choice. My thinking is transferring Son > Lanzini for free and then going with Kane captain.

I know it probably means nothing, but whenever I go against my gut instinct I get punished. Im getting rid of Son after this week anyway. What do you recon?

Or do I just brave it and going with Arnie captain and save my FT.

    Pope
    Jones Christensen Kenny Ogbonna
    Salah Eriksen Son Arnautovic
    Kane Aguero

    (Elliot DCL Duffy RLC

    1FT £0.5m...thinking A, but thoughts very much appreciated 🙂

    A. Eriksen > Sterling (Eriksen plays sooo deep...)
    B. DCL > Wilson (but thinking about waiting for Niasse and saving £1.1m...)
    C. Both for (-4)
    D. Pope > Schmeichel or Pickford
    E. A and D (-4)
    F. Save FT

      No.

Pope has save point potential this gw then 2 more tough fixtures for the remainder of the season.

The only risk is Heaton's return, however there's no guarantee Pope loses his place given the outstanding form he's been in.

Heaton has also been out long term, and given Pope's form there's absolutely no need for Dyche to rush Heaton back in.

I'm pretty sure I have the most interesting kit design in the world – certainly the best I've seen. Anyone think they've done better? Genuine question. Most people completely neglect their kit, go totally boring or creating some garish, mismatched monstrosity. Keen to see other people who've put some thought and effort into theirs.

Garish yes, but mismatched no. The black stripes balance out the electric teal. It's not like putting hot pink and yellow together. It makes a world of difference.

Ive done the eriksen mahrez move and also looking at the DCL > Wilson move and fabianski > pickford move.

in your case A I think is worth it when you look at the next set of fixtures for both
