Captain Sensible – Gameweek 30

It’s time for out pre-Gameweek members’ article now as we run the rule over the main captaincy candidates for the upcoming round of fixtures.

First up, we check in with the form of the leading contenders in our Captain Poll, then delve into the Opta data and Rate My Team ratings before considering a differential or two for Gameweek 30.

The Captain Poll

Our Gameweek 30 Captain Poll has proved no more than a procession for Harry Kane, who leads the way with 47% of the votes cast.

Having scored more goals on the road (13) than any player this season, the Spurs striker visits a Bournemouth backline with just one clean sheet in 16 attempts. Furthermore, he has netted six times in four league outings against the Cherries.

Liverpool’s trip to Man United ensures that, for once, Mohamed Salah (7%) is among the also-rans.

The Red Devils boas the league’s most resilient home defence, conceding just six times at Old Trafford and amassing ten clean sheets.

Yet Salah arrives in his most consistent form of the season, having scored in each of the last five Gameweeks. Meanwhile, United have managed just one clean sheet over that period.

Sergio Aguero is backed by 13% as Man City make their way to Stoke on Monday night.

Rested from midweek Champions League duties, the Argentine has bagged eight goals in the last six Gameweeks, though all of those have been scored in front of his own fans.

Aguero has one double-digit haul on the road this term – Salah has five and Kane four – though has strong form at the bet365, bagging a brace in both his previous visits.

Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (3%) earns a rare top five place in our Poll. At home to a Watford defence with a single clean sheet in their last seven on the road, the winter signing has scored in two of his four appearances since arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

Eden Hazard and Riyad Mahrez are backed by 5% and 3% respectively ahead of favourable weekend fixtures.

Hazard is expected to return to a central support role at home to Crystal Palace, after a disastrous stint as a “false 9” at Man City last Sunday.

The Belgian has five goals and an assist in the last six Gameweeks, including a 16-point return against West Brom in his previous outing at Stamford Bridge.

Interest in Mahrez is on the rise after his last-minute leveler against Bournemouth salvaged Leicester a draw in Gameweek 28.

The Algerian has served up attacking returns in ten of his last 13 starts ahead of a trip to West Bromwich Albion – a side he’s already scored against in Gameweek 8.

His team-mate Jamie Vardy, meanwhile, has scored in each of his visits to The Hawthorns over the previous three seasons.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I'm going to try last time ..... 😐

    Pope
    Otamendi - VVD - Daniels
    Salah - Sterling - Chopamoting - Lingard*
    Kane - Aguero - Firmino

    Elliot - milijovic - Bauer - Mbemba

    0.7 ITB 2 FT

    Lingard -> Van la parra?

    Thoughts? 🙂

The thing that confuses me is that Leicester are the one's denying it - not Mahrez.

As far as I know, Mahrez hasn't commented. Certainly hasn't tweeted anything either way.

I think it would be best if England boycotted the tournament on the grounds that it was corruption that got Russia the WC in the first place and the nerve agent attack that happen in England during the week.

But i wont hold my breath morels in this world have gone down the swan chemical weapons attacks being tolerated by the western powers i believe the world is on a very slippery slope.

I ditched for Mahrez, the way I see it many people say he will start as he has been training since Monday, however he has been out injured and hasn't played a game in nearly a month (Feb 10th) so would be very surprise if pep started him. I suspect he will be on the bench and come on for some minutes as he needs match fitness..

However I will be crouching behind he sofa as 15 or 20 mins is enough for Sterling to rack up double digits when city are in top gear.

        My current squad :

        Lossl
        Alonso, Van Dijk, Daniels
        Salah, Son, Walcott, Sterling
        Kane(c), Aguero(vc), Wilson.

        Elliot Milivojevic, Bauer, Goldson.

        1FT 0 ITB.

Had planned to keep Sterling and roll my FT this week leaving me with 2 FT's for next GW to do Kun, Son & Goldson > Firmino, Shaqiri and Coleman -4.

        I could however :

A - Take a 1 week punt on Hazard in for Sterling then same 3 changes for 31 as above for a total -8 over next two?
B - Stick with original plan as above for -4?
C - OR go Sterling to Siggy this week for free then next week just go Kun & Son > Firmino & Shaqiri for a -4 and play 3-5-2 then instead of 4-4-2?

Defo Wc'ing in 32, what do you think is best? Many thanks.

Let's see if 3rd time lucky.

Repost as bottomed. 2FTs. [] are the 31 players ( have 7 by now )

    De Gea, Elliot
    Naughton, [ VVD ], [ Marriapa ] , Dunk, Massuaku
    Mahrez,[ Salah ], Sterling, [ Allen ] , [ Stanislas ]
    [ Quanner] , Kane,[ Firmino ]

So Massuaku is out for sure. That's the 1 FT.
Next one would you do :

    A. Sterling to Hazard to 1week punt.
    B. Sterling to GW31 player ( Walcott/Siggy )
    C. Save and do 2 FTs opr 3 with a hit next week.

Who should I prioritize to ship out?

Pogba is not fantasy relevant playing deep. He gets some generously awarded assists from FPL towers and people pile on. Never for me

Fair enough. He's always there or there abouts though...not bad for a 7.9 United player
