Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Swansea

Gameweek 35 rolls on with another big fixture for Fantasy managers as champions Manchester City host relegation-threatened Swansea at the Etihad Stadium.

The home side features the two most signed players ahead of Saturday’s deadline, with both Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus named in their strong starting line-up.

Sterling was acquired by over 327,000 managers having delivered two goals and three assists from is last four Gameweek starts.

But striker Jesus has proved even more popular. The injury to Sergio Aguero has paved the way for the Brazilian to command a regular starting role over Man City’s remaining five fixtures, continuing today. He was snapped up by 375,000+ ahead of Gameweek 35 and is also captained by 272,000+ (4.6%).

Around that pair, City have a number of explosive assets capable of delivering big scores.

Kevin De Bruyne, as part of 22.3% of squads, has the ability to play a significant role in this match and Gameweek 35, though the Belgian is without a goal in his last eight Gameweek appearances (7 starts), which have produced four assists and just two bonus points.

Meanwhile, David Silva was brought in by 84,000+ but is owned by a relatively modest 12.3%, he has three goals and three assists from his last six Gameweek appearances. Winger Leroy Sane has an identical ownership but finds himself dropped to the bench today, ending a run of six successive starts.

That isn’t the only teamsheet tweak to annoy Fantasy managers. Both Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otemendi also start in reserve, boasting a combined ownership of 2.4 million managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In hindsight, I'm glad i did my FH on GW22 now, achieving 83 points then.
55 points this week with no FH. Most FHers around 60s at best this GW, so quite happy how its worked out.

      That is impressive. Great stuff.

Hard to gauge success on a single gw scorecthough as it affects scores either side too.

Ragabolly will hopefully tell us with his great metrics articles.

That's well played. I think FH this week was the safer strategy but it seems like you've equaled or bettered it.

I was sucked in by the Kane Capt in GW22 with the DGW but he had that damn cold, and didnt do very well. TBH i was quite concerned this week with how much I'd be behind the FHers.

I also Free Hitted in GW22. Most things went wrong for that strategy tbh.. I Kanexited so I didnt need to have him for the blank, but then the two hat tricks came AND he was ill for the double. I probably gained more than 20p on the top 10k with the FH for that single game week, but dont think the collateral of missing Kane's hauls was worth it.

Free hits are wasted in blanks. Limited opportunities to score heavily with so few games.

But more chances of nailing the players who do score big, as less to pick from. All about percentages.

Is Jesus a better finisher than any of the regular City attacking mids?

For me, he really lacks composure. He'll probably score a goal a game just because he'll get so many chances, but I wouldn't be that worried not to own him.

Will probably end up gettinghim in as now Auba seems a possible risk, but not that enthused about it

Hes one for the future. City as a team right now are definitely better with Sterling or B.Silva in his position and Sane on the pitch instead of him.

Agreed. Not convincing today. Arguably there is less pressure on forward slots with aub being a risk, as you mention, lukaku average and non explosive , and kane looking groggy. Lots of good midfield options so jesus just easier to fit in?

I think Auba is going to punish his sellers. Based on the time between matches, it made sense that he would get limited minutes this week. And it makes sense that he’ll be nailed going forward.

It's a tough one and you could get burned but I would say yes, hold. Kane looking forlorn. Aub has a point to prove after benching today and has been a consistent scorer.

Which city attacking players are we considering the best calls for the run in?
Jesus very quiet today. Sane rested. Sterling maybe due a rest but looked really good. Kdb is the king and maybe most nailed. David silva maybe slightly less nailed but was excellent. Bernardo a leftfield call but is he likely to play 3/4?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I like jesus for my second elite striker slot over aub or lukaku (and to be honest even kane on this form) but a bit concerned by his performance today.
Sterling is excellent but lots of people in his position at the moment. Are you concerned by that? Is he the best off the bench?

Yeah, not exactly Rocket science, remember when Advocaat was in charge at Rangers he would quite often make a change that would throw the opposition manager off, worked a treat a lot of times and they got some great results in Europe. Klopp I afraid will stick the the same players in the same formation and thats why they will not win the CL
