The Community Round Up

With the final Gameweek of the season approaching, the Fantasy Football Scout community is looking to ensure they make the most of their final transfers and captain selection.

Our Hot Topic posters serve up plenty of options and also find time to look back over the season to mull over their mistakes, successes and ways that Fantasy football can be further improved next season.

Scandinavia looks the best place to turn to for inspiration, according to our community writers, who also cover predictions for the final season.

Attacking defenders, sharp-shooters and under the radar options get an airing in our Members table round-up.

We also find out who is going into the season finale looking to preserve a lead at the top of our community leagues.

The Community Articles.

According to Mr Klin of Norway some of the best innovations in Fantasy Football are taking place in Scandinavia, where the makers of the Fantasy Premier League, ISM, have created bespoke games for the Norwegian and Swedish leagues.

The same writer also dropped by later in the week for his regular preview of the next set of fixtures in Norwegian top flight game Eliteserien game, while Niemi was on hand with further sources of useful statistics for those taking part.

On the domestic front Top Marx has been taking a look at how the Career Hall of Fame set themselves up for double Gameweek 37.

Meanwhile, for the final time this season Hutch_James has been canvassing the crowd to gauge their views on how the forthcoming matches will pan out.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

This weekend’s season finale is the last chance for Fantasy managers to achieve their goals, whether it is mini-league glory or a rankings milestone.

We asked the community which players they are looking to bring in to end the campaign on a high.

A home match with relegated West Brom makes Crystal Palace assets, such as Wilfried Zaha top targets. But, asks Johnny O, can we trust the Eagles to prevail against a Baggies side that has shown considerable promise in recent matches, despite their descent into the Championship?

Our “rough with the smooth” round-up of Double Gameweek 37 revealed who is going into the final day in good spirits and who is looking forward to the end of a difficult campaign.

Among the smoothest Fantasy managers this week is Faisal Idris, who, as Red Lightning’s Hot Topic documents,  leapt from 12th to second in the overall rankings. He was the only top 100 manager to captain the top points scorer of the round, Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Another to back the Gabon forward was Red Arrows, who beat the Scout Picks by an impressive margin of 29 point thanks to his savvy selection.

Cricket legend Stuart Broad also joins this week’s hall of fame, after topping the Gameweek 37 points table. Granville dropped by to let us know about this feat, and also got a reply from the man himself via Twitter.

Among those who had a “rough” week was Mark, who had to watch as every one of the four players he ditched delivered attacking returns, while those he brought in all blanked.

Mark also posted this week to let us know why Charlie Austin, who was among his departing quartet, was awarded a much-discussed assist for Manolo Gabbiadini’s goal against Swansea.

While injury and rotation marred these Saints strikers’ chances of being budget gems this season, there was no shortage of cut-price stars to get a mention in our discussion on the best value players this season.

Assessment of the 2017/18 campaign continued with Big Red Dog’s canvassing of how many hits the community have taken. Our season retrospective Hot Topic also took in the community’s lessons learned since August.

Dave Benson Philips chipped in to ask what went right and what went wrong this season, while we found out which Premier League managers have been this campaign’s best and worst from a Fantasy Football perspective.

For Zoumas Bloomers the season has been one of the most boring he can recall. One way it could be livened up, according to MT Pockets, is to revolutionise the bonus awards so that more players potentially earn extra points.

Elsewhere, Numb is already looking ahead to next season and wonders who will be in our Gameweek 1 squads. It seems unlikely that many of those mentioned in our discussion on this season’s biggest disappointments will earn a place in your first day teams.

Finally, Rupert the Horse is looking for donations to help him in his bid to set up a school and orphanage in Uganda.

To view all our discussions please visit our Hot Topics page.

The Members Tables

For those looking for a rearguard asset capable of returns at both ends of the pitch my attacking defenders table offers up a raft of potential high scorers. Strong options for Gameweek 38 also get a mention in my final goals and assist imminent tables of the season.

Elsewhere, Doosra’s deadly assassins table focuses on sharp-shooting players who look primed to find the net this weekend. He recommends sorting by last two Gameweeks to get the best options.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Congratulations to Jam0sh who outlasted 4,734 others to win Torres Magic’s Last Man Standing competition.

FFS main league leader Bharat Dhody retains number one spot, despite a 12 point hit,  closely followed by Faisal Idris. Paul Gee drops to fourth in the overall standings, but retains top spot in the FFS Members league.

Scoutcaster Az is now top of the FFScout moderators and contributors league, with Jack Wain dropping to second. Just two points separates this high-flying duo going into the final Gameweek.

Elsewhere, Anders Lium stays first in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league. Second placed Stuart Blakeley is now only four point behind him.

In Red Lightning’s other competitions, Shirin Nizar continues to dominate the January to May league and is 80th overall, while Budhi Nugraha is the new leader of his Doubles, Blanks and Chips league.

QPR United has slipped to second in his Frequent Summer Posters league, with Zoumas Bloomers taking top place by five-points.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email us summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

30 points behind ML leader and own 6 players that are unlikely to play/my rival owns:
    2 defs (Kompany + Smalling)
3 mids (Willian, Kenedy and Dilva, who my rival owns)
1 forward (Vardy, who my rival owns)

How many hits is too many?
Will I have to make 4 transfers (-12)?
    Is this possible?

Scratch that. Sorry I now you're generalizing with players who are a doubt OR your rival also owns.

The transfers/hits depends on the rest of your teams and what differentials you do have.

Only Vardy and Silva are the same. I’ll focus on those not playing first and see how ballsy I go come tomorrow.

    To fund Salah:

    A) Jesus to J. Ayew/Ings/Abraham punt (-4)
    B) Alli to RLC (-4)

Or go without Salah (captain Kane):
    C) Willian to Zaha FT

Leading mini league by 3 points.

I can't do much with my team without taking a hit.

Play it safe (Maguire > Cresswell?) or try to improve for a -4 (DDG > Karius, Maguire > Vertonghen)?

    Hennessey, (DDG)
    Fernandez, Tomkins, VVD, Tarkowski,(Maguire)
    Gudmundsen, Salah, Sterling, (Lingard, Gundogan)
    Kane, Jesus, Vardy

    0.3 ITB

    Any ideas welcome,

    Ok so team is:
    DDG
    Van Dijk, Lascelles, Creswell
    Salah, Sane, Sterling, Eriksen, Milivojevic
    Jesus, Firmino

    Subs: Pope, Perez, Cedric, Chillwell

34 points clear in my ML. Do I:
    A: -4 for Jesus ➡️ Auba
    B: -4 for Lascelles ➡️ Van Ahnholt
    C: Nothing, keep the points
    Thoughts?

22 points behind in minileague so need to gamble. Want rid of Jesus, Willian but also have Kenedy and Barnes. I suspect i’ll have to take at least one hit but it’s worth it if I get a player in who actually plays right? This is my current team:

    Hennessey
    Otamendi / Davies / Tarkowski / Lowton
    Sterling / Eriksen / Willian* / Zaha
    Kane / Jesus*

Subs: DDG / Morgan / Kenedy* / Barnes*

    Rival’s team:

    Ryan / DDG*
    Lowton / Tarkowski / Trippier* / Chilwell* / Mawson
    Sterling / Son / Salah / Cork / Lingard*
    Jesus / Kane / Murray

He has made one transfer already and doubt he’ll make anymore. I’m thinking Jesus > Aubameyang, Willian > Arnautovic and Kenedy > Carrick (a bit mad I know but he *might* score!)

Okay ..... I am 12 points behind in my ML.

But I made a total T*t of myself last week by not confirming my Bench Boost, so I am having to play it this week.

If you were me, what would you do with this squad, and how much of hit do I need to take to give me a chance of overturning 12 points ?

    Any advice greatly received.
