Yahoo Focus – Gameweek 38

Our partner game Yahoo are offering yet another big-money contest for Fantasy managers as the 2017/18 season comes to a close.

They have a Premier League £3k Sunday contest, taking in all ten fixtures in Gameweek 38.

The contest is guaranteed to run, costs £5 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to six teams. The top 173 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £10, with £300 going to the first place.

Driven by Opta data, the Yahoo game has a unique scoring system which is ideal for those members of our community on the lookout for a Daily Fantasy Sports game.

If you’re new to Yahoo, you can sign up and claim a free £50 in credit to your account when you deposit just £5. Promo code: Fantasy50.

Before getting started on your lineup, it’s worth digesting our Strategy Guide, which assesses the types of players who profit from the rule set.

FFS Strongest XI

Loris Karius – £15
Ben Davies – £14
Nicolas Otamendi – £16
Patrick van Aanholt – £14
Leroy Sane – £22
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – £17
Johann Berg Gudmundsson – £15
Luka Milivojevic – £16
Harry Kane – £27
Mohamed Salah – £27
Marko Arnautovic – £17

Liverpool’s Loris Karius takes his place between the posts for the visit of Brighton. Jurgen Klopp’s men are the only side that have remained unbeaten in front of their own fans, with 11 wins and seven draws to date. Furthermore, the Reds have the second most resilient home record – conceding just ten times – while their visitors have scored just ten goals on their travels. The Yahoo scoring system is a big factor in our thinking here – it awards goalkeepers points for wins or draws and double the number of points as defenders for a clean sheet.

Ben Davies offers the strong prospects of points at both ends of the pitch for Spurs’ home encounter with Leicester. A 1-0 win over Newcastle in midweek means that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have served up six clean sheets in seven at Wembley. The Welshman is ranked among the top five defenders for successful crosses (16) and key passes (21) in front of his own fans, while no defender has bettered his total of seven assists over the season.

Rested from the midweek win over Brighton, we expect Nicolas Otamendi to return to Man City’s teamsheet for a trip to Southampton. Given that it would take a major turnaround to relegate the Saints, we expect them to sit tight and offer little in attack to get over the finishing line. That looks promising for the champions, then, who have more clean sheets (nine) and conceded fewer shots in the box (74) and efforts on target (43) than any other side away from home. Furthermore, among defenders, Otamendi is second is ranked first and second respectively away from home for shots (15) and successful passes (1,397).

Back-to-back goals from Patrick van Aanholt bode well as Crystal Palace welcome relegated West Brom to Selhurst Park. The Dutchman has been a consistent source of points in both boxes recently, serving up four goals and three clean sheets in his last nine outings. He also leads the way for shots (13) and efforts on target (seven) among defenders from Gameweek 29 onwards.

A trio of assists at home to Brighton in midweek highlights Leroy Sane’s end-of-season form for Man City’s trip to St Mary’s. With the champions still needing a win to reach 100 points, the German’s goal threat on the road could punish a porous Saints defence that have just two clean sheets in their last 17 at home. Sane has found the net in four of his last six away appearances.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan offers a budget-friendly route into Arsenal’s attack for the trip to Huddersfield. The Armenian has matched team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for total attempts (nine) in the last two Gameweeks and is ranked joint-top among Yahoo midfielders for shots in the box (seven) in that period. With the Terriers now safe, an open game at the John Smith’s Stadium looks on the cards in Arsene Wenger’s final match in charge.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s delivery could help Burnley get the better of visitors Bournemouth. The playmaker has been involved in 53% of his side’s goals at Turf Moor – tallying two goals and six assists – and is their leading player for successful crosses (31) and key passes (32) at home. No side have conceded more headed attempts this season that the Cherries (92), who arrive with just two clean sheets in their last 24 attempts.

We call upon another dead-ball specialist, Luka Milivojevic, for Crystal Palace’s clash with West Brom. The Eagles’ top scorer with ten goals to his name, the Serbian’s all-round game is ideal for the Yahoo scoring matrix – he’s also among their top two players for successful tackles (82) and interceptions (72).

Golden Boot rivals Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah are both included for home encounters with Leicester and Brighton respectively.

The Spurs striker has netted in three of the last four league matches to move just three behind Salah in the race to be the Premier League’s top scorer. Kane’s record against the Foxes is also very encouraging – he’s fired five goals in their last two league meetings.

Salah, meanwhile, will look to recover from back-to-back blanks against Stoke and Chelsea – only the second time this season he has failed to score in successive matches.

His record at Anfield is exemplary, though – scoring in seven of the last eight since Boxing Day, he’s tallied 12 goals and three assists in that period. Jurgen Klopp’s side have already put five goals past the Seagulls earlier in the season.

Marko Arnautovic continues to offer excellent value for money in Yahoo. Priced at just £17, the Austrian’s contribution is likely to be a telling one as David Moyes looks to get one over former club Everton at the London Stadium. Since being moved up front in Gameweek 16, he’s served up ten goals and six assists, firing 27 efforts on target – only Kane (33) and Salah (33) have been more accurate in that stretch.

As Yahoo allows late swaps up until each kick-off, our listed line-up may well be subject to change.

The Weekend Contests

As well as the Premier League £3k Sunday contest, Yahoo are also offering a pair of Premier League £750 Sunday contest for the ten matches.

Guaranteed to run, this costs £1 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to eight teams. The top 180 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £2, with £75 going to the first place.

You can open an account and get started immediately.

If you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used as cash to enter paid contests.

OR of 1933, 17 point gap to top 1000 but no idea what to do to make up that gap. Any suggestions?

    Current team

    Fabianski

    Ogbonna, Masuaka, Smalling

    Sterling, Eriksen, Sane, Matic

    Auba, Kane, Jesus

    DDG, VDH, Kenedy, Mariapppa

    O.1 ITB, 1FT. Current thoughts.

Jesus, Kenedy ---> Niase, Salah (C)
    Downgrade Smalling/DDG and upgrade midfield
    Just make one defensive change
    Too much City coverage
    Just leave it

What to do with Pogba now? Will Carrick take his place in the United side? I am in a Surivor final (last-man-standish-competition). Opponent has no Salah.

Is Pogba and Vardy -> Salah (C) and Ayew (or other for up to 6.3) a bad move?

    Any comments appreciated, thanks

I have the same dilemma and have read Carrick will play. Pogba was useless in last DGW and Vardy has been off form except 1 goal in the last week.

Swansea will try their best to score so Ayew is best choice (can only think of Perez as alternative) so good move i reckon!

Thanx. Think I just leave it as it is. Im gtg.
        Only captain choice left.

        Think I go for Kane.
        And you?

€650 on line, chasing ML by 11 points, he has no TC... I do

Is this the correct line up, all subs ok?

    Ryan (DDG)
    Vertonghen Tark Robertson (Mustafi Dunk)
    Salah Sterling(tc?) Son Sane (Gross)
    Aub(tc?) Vardy J.Ayew

Arsenal away form has been awful. I think best to captain TC when they play at home in which case wouldn't it be Salah?

    Final role of the dice...
    A) Chilwell to another defender for £5.6m or less or
    B) Perez to another forward for £6.5m or less?

    Currently on:

    Lloris
    Smalling, Ogbonna, Naughton
    Salah, Sterling, Lingard, Eriksen, Arnautovic
    Kane, Jesus
    Bench: McCarthy, Perez, Dummett, Chilwell
    £1.2m ITB

TIA and good luck everyone for the final GW!

Similar dilemma to me (below). I am thinking Chilwell -> TAA is a better option as Ayew is pants

But of a dilemma. Have three outfield non starters in Chilwell, Kennedy and Barnes. Also DDG with Ryan to come in v Liverpool and Smalling who is likely to be rested. I don’t think it’s worth taking a hit to get a full team out for just one game, is it?! What to do?

    A) Chilwell -> TAA
    B) Kennedy -> Milivojevic
    C) Barnes -> Ayew
    D) Kennedy & Smalling -> Milivojevic & PVA -4

I am thinking either A or B.... opinions aporeciated.

So if Kane needs a few games to get going be it aftet injury or beginning of the season, should Vardy be the first choice striker in Russia ?
Kane is off form now and cant see him getting a lot of match expierience beetwen now and WC.
