As always, depends what team you can put out instead. If you can't field 10 outfield players, then yeah, it's worth it. Otherwise, probably not.

Not if you have a playing bench ... Ings is a season keeper due to lack of choice in that or lower price ranges

    Alonso Robertson Laporte
    Hazard Mane Richarlison Fraser
    Aguero Firmino Mitrovic

    Button Wan-Bissaka Bennett Stephens

Potentially but I trust Pool over Leicester. Firmino masssively under the reader IMO. 2G 2A is decent.

There are so many good cheap striker options. One of them over Firmino would mean you could afford Salah over Mane.

After being one of the unlucky ones (43 inc AWB bench points) weighing up my options (mostly just early thoughts as should wait for midweek CL). Help me out:

    A) aka “Captain Sensible”: Save FT
    B) Pedro > Richarlison
    C) Wally, Pedro > Fraser, Richarlison (-4)
    D) Wally > Fraser
    E) Wally, Pedro, PVA > Hazard, Billing, 4.0

    1FT £0.3itb
    Fab, Foster
    Alonso, Mendy, Robbo, PVA, AWB
    Salah, Mané, Pedro, Wally, Hughes
    Aguero, Wilson, Kamara

    Appreciate any early suggestions!

Those 43 points are gone. A knee jerk transfer won't help that now. Wait until after the midweeks. I can't see anything in your team that would justify anything immediate.

Well I'm really pleased with this week so far, jumped from 160k to 18k yesterday. Got 82 points with Pat, Wally yet to play (hopefully) and Bennett off bench for Mendy. Kept Fraser and Zaha, no Pool assets and left 2.6 itb with 2 frees for next week, doesn't happen often so am going to enjoy it whilst it lasts. Shame I didn't cap Hazard though.

      Current team
      Pat
      Mendy, Alonso, PVA
      Hazard, Dilva, Fraser, Wally
      Zaha, Aguero (C), Wilson
      (Ryan, Mkhi, Bennett, WB)

Went in the exact opposite direction. 25k to 150k.

Still have 9 pts off the bench to come in + 3 home players tho as long as Wally features but this GW has been brutal considering the players not in my team who have excelled compared to those in my team.

Same here. Weeks 1-4 been sat just over 40k but 36 points + AWB off the bench meant a drop to 133k. Only got neves to play. Its my turn to endure the pain as others have done over the first 4 weeks.
Congrats to those who have had a good week.

Me too! Hazard cap and 4 players to go. I’m hoping Wally doesn’t feature so I get the AWB 9 pointer off the 2nd sub spot.

My jump was 1.8M to 480k

For those with WC still in their pocket (or even not)- does it make sense now to drop Salah or Mane for Hazard given his form and if yes.. which one should we replace of these 2 considering the extra cash that selling Salah gives?

This question is going to haunt me all week. Southampton @ home next for Liverpool not making this decision any easier.

I dropped Salah last week on WC due to 3 tough games out of 4 for Liverpool, Salah not scoring enough for £13m and Hazard looking good value by comparison. Ended up with a far better balanced team imho

That’s what I said. They have 2 easy fixtures to go. I wanted him for them and was planning to drop for Hazard in gw8. But had to do it two weeks early because of expected price rise.

Not really, hazard has better mins per expected goal and mins per expected assist, has more fpl points in less minutes and is cheaper.

I also did sessegnon to Mitrovic which also seemed like a significant upgrade.

I can only afford 2 big hitters because I prefer to have more funds in defense and also I allocate more funds to my bench players than most managers do.

I’m in same position. I think it’s best to keep them for next week as they could run riot, but after I’m getting rid of one.

I’m thinking Salah as free ups lots of cash, and Mane has risen 0,5 and I’d hate to have to buy him back!!! Salah could explode one of these days, but at the moment he’s not worth it. I’m thinking of getting rid, but having a very clear buy back plan if I need to

If you didnt drop them this week you should stick with your decision and keep for SOU then reassess.

You need to make decisions based on clumps of fixtures, and if you kept Salah/Mane before this gw, surely you have to keep for SOU?

The wildcards really ruin the game I think. Looking at my own mini League now, half the teams are more or less the same. It makes the game boring and rewards the casuals.

I would get rid of wildcards all together and allow an extra transfer to be carried forward so that you could have to to 3 on a given week.

Problem is that fpl towers want casuals and as many people playing as possible so they're not going to change anything unfortunately...

They can only wildcard once and real skill is over 38 weeks - same rules for everyone so just focus on beating them within current rules 🙂

I'd bin the chips, but wildcards are fine. Think it's the bonus system that leads to greatest similarities - if pts were awarded for in-game defensive/attacking prowess that would bring many more options into the game (eg. defensive mids) - and less template.

I think the captain element is great. I was 60 points clear at the top of my mini league. I captained Aguero and my friend who trailed by 60 points captained Hazard. He had a 100 point week and is now 20 points behind me.

The problem is how few players are viable. Theres ~500 players in the game, but probably less than 50 are truly viable options. They need to keep working on the prices to bring more viable players into the game.

There needs to be slightly more granular scoring and no captains. WC is fine given the season is so long.

Personally don't think he is a threat at present but many on here disagree. He didnt join from PSG to be a bench warmer when he had other offers. He was eased in last season. He receiving loads of praise from Poch, easily been there best player but go with guy I guess.

I'm worried about the overall effect of Alli, Moura, Son and Lamela. Room at most for two at a time

Moura, Son and Lamela provide a lot of the same. Alli, for all his shiteness, seems to provide much needed strength in the Spurs attacking midfield and is therefore nailed ahead of those 3 others who will rotate. I would say Son is a big threat. You wont see Spurs line up with something like Kane, Son and Moura, its just too many players who are weak at regaining possession.

Asked on last post - will ask again

I seem to be one of the VERY few who intend on keeping Kane. The argument against this is that he has not looked to be at the forefront of every Spurs attack as perhaps he has in the last few years.

I dont think this is due to tiredness though. I think its largely because to accommodate Moura. In every game this season Kane is coming deeper to allow eriksen/moura/alli to fill the gaps but Kane has still got 2 goals and has only blanked in the last 2 against teams who were (up until this weekend) both unbeaten.

We all know he starts the season slowly but we are also extremely aware of what happens when Kane gets going. He is a monster. The most consistent striker in the league by a mile.

The next 4 games are massive. bha hud CAR whu are all games he can bag a massive haul. Will reassess after that

A hatty is most definitely incoming.

Sorry, but even as a Spurs fan, I find this hard to agree with. He hasn't looked like scoring, he's not even taking near as many shots as he normally does. He had none yesterday I believe..

I do agree with the part about accommodating Moura to a degree and he moved wider in the second half yesterday but it made no difference.

Pochetinno needs to find a way to get him playing well again. Up top on his own is the first move. The second is to get Eriksen on the ball in space. When those two can do that spurs will click into gear. Add Alli in to the equation and there will be some valuable spurs assets but until that point I'd avoid.

I've got Eriksen and want rid but have other issues in my team. An assists yesterday is the best return so far this season.

Why is Ings red flagged when he hasn’t played his game yet?

Guess because whatever happens with this fixture, Ings can't play next one. Whereas if Everton's was cancelled Rich would still be suspended. But don't recall them flagging/unflagging like this before.

Richarlison is suspended for 3 games. He hasn't missed the third game yet.

Ings is is definitely out of GW6 v Liverpool.

Overall average dropped to 39....This would suggest the average around the 100k mark was 51-53 which seems strange if top 10k was only 45.

If you were in the top 10k you would have risen in rank in rank.
The overall average is quoted as 39 by fpldiscovery and 38 by official flp. Looks like an anomaly whereby all those around you had similar success to yourself but by score alone you distanced yourself from those behind you and closed the gap on those in top 10k

The top 10k overall are not the top 10k any given gameweek. They're only a little above average. You've not dropped far. This week you didn't get enough points to catch anyone in the top 10k, so even if their average is 0 it makes no difference to you. But everyone from 108k to 115k triple captained hazard, and all went past you. Or something like that.

Same 🙂 it’s carbohydrates people have to worry about. They are as bad as sugar... the body sees them the same, cheap energy to store.

Well I’m glad I get mine dry cured from the local butcher then (he says while his tongue and teeth chomp through crispy grilled pig flesh smothered in melted Brie)

Cry me a river Vegan, it’s called the food chain. You wouldn’t like coming hunting with me.. shooting rabbits in the head then ripping their insides out with Stanley knife and my bare fingers before skinning it and eating it in a lovely stew.

There used to be an article after the Saturday matches had concluded that discussed the big performers of the day. Never mind Hazard, who is a big hitter anyway, what about Fraser's 18 points from yesterday??

Aren't the articles intended to prompt the community discussion and stoke knee jerk transfers in and out?

Been away from here for a few days, has anyone talked about how OfficialFPL twitter used reasons to disallow Mane's assist that are not part of their own rules, as per the website?

Yea, it was never an assist.

Why not? Look at the assist rule, and tell me that doesn't 100% validate it to be a Mane assist.

Vertonghen's touch signifantly altered the destination of the pass. Then the post changed it back again. How is this even a debate? Its clearly within the rules.

"If an opposing player touches the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, significantly altering the intended destination of the ball, then no assist is awarded. Should a touch by an opposing player be followed by a defensive error by another opposing outfield player then no assist will be awarded. If the goal scorer loses and then regains possession, then no assist is awarded."

                                1) The defender's touch didn't significantly alter the "intended destination" of the pass, which was Firmino.

                                2) The touch wasn't followed by a defensive error by another apposing "outfield" player. No mention of goalkeepers or posts in this rule.

Vertonghen doesnt "touch" the ball, he clears it into the post and eventually Firmino.

How do you define the difference?

Either way, if the reason they didn't award Mane the assist was because the touch from Vertonghen was "more significant than a touch", then fair enough. But that's not the line they used on their OfficialFPL twitter - they cited the post and goalkeeper touches, which are not mention in the rules.

Sorry, but there was not AN PLAYER, but TWO PLAYERS, who played with the ball. From a Mane owner.

Yes, but the rules specify a second OUTFIELD player. Only ONE outfield player touched the ball from Mane, which was a pass intended for Firmino.

I don’t bother getting upset when things like this happen, I own Mane and Alonso both could potentially had assists but it is what it is

These hard calls happen occasionally and I think FPL get 99% of them right to be fair. The Alonso one I understand because his original pass wasn't intended for Willian, so that's in line with the rules but there's no justification for not giving Mane's.

Agree with the Alonso one but I’ve seen them given when it’s not clear who was the intended target, the Mane one could of gone either way imo.

Don’t worry about it, you’ll get a dodgy one in your favour by the end of season

Yeah, fair point. Won't lose any sleep over it but just thought it was bizarre for them to use reasons that are not part of (and contradict with) their own list of rules.

You've got the reasoning for Alonso's non-assist spot on. The reason for Mane's non-assist is that there were two touches (Vertonghen & Vorm) before Firmino scored. The posted a series of articles recently which covered this aspect, I think.
P.S. I too own both of them & as soon as I saw the Mane one I realised there was a strong chance it wouldn't be credited.

But in the rules, it specifically mentions the second touch has to be from an "outfield player", no mention of goalkeepers or posts.

The Aguero assist for Silva was an assist because it was a goal attempt blocked.

No way was mane’s an assist, it would have been if Vertongen had scored an own goal And not hit the post.

I was more disappointed with no Alonso assist since the ball only changed direction by a small amount by the deflection.

But, it's still an assist according to the rules:

                            1) The defender's touch didn't significantly alter the "intended destination" of the pass, which was Firmino.

                            2) The touch wasn't followed by a defensive error by another apposing "outfield" player. No mention of goalkeepers or posts in this rule.

If they don't want situations like this to be awarded assists, they surely have to change the wording of the rules to reflect that?

Barkley was deemed the target for Alonsos pass and it’s debatable whether Willian receives the ball without the defensive touch.

Not looked deeper but my understanding is that the touch from Vert does significantly divert the ball from its intended destination and it’s the rebound off the post and the subsequent touch from Vorm that diverts it back on course to Firmino.

Woke up to Bilva, Arnie & Pedro > Hazard, Wilson & Fraser for -8.

At the end of the season is that extra -4 really going to impact your OR too much. I’d not switch to WC to save -4

Got to keep an eye on press conferences and manager quotes before the games kick off. Jimenez was confirmed fit and Zaha had trained. The flagging system on FPL is very conservative and often yellow flags aren't removed until said players are seen on the pitch.
