Walcott fit to start for Everton while Pellegrini rings the changes

Everton take on rock-bottom West Ham United in the penultimate match of Gameweek 5, with kick-off at Goodison Park at 16:00 BST.

Theo Walcott (£6.7m) was the second-most-sold Fantasy Premier League player of this round, with over a third of his owners ditching the Everton winger after he picked up an injury in the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town a fortnight ago.

Walcott, however, has won his race to be fit for this afternoon’s match, along with defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye (£4.9m).

Richarlison (£6.6m), still the most-owned Everton outfield player in FPL despite his recent ban, sits out the last match of his suspension, while the injured Seamus Coleman (£5.3m) joins the lengthy list of players unavailable to Marco Silva for this afternoon’s encounter.

Jonjoe Kenny (£4.3m) – who recorded a clean sheet and an assist in this fixture last season – comes into the Everton starting XI in place of Coleman, with Tom Davies (£5.4m) making way for Gueye in the double-pivot.

Everton have yet to keep a clean sheet this season, but Jordan Pickford (£5.4m) remains the fourth-most-popular goalkeeper in FPL in spite of this.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is the most-owned player on show on either side at Goodison, with the Austrian having scored both of West Ham’s Premier League goals this season.

The Hammers’ poor defensive record of ten goals conceded and no clean sheets has influenced over half a million FPL managers’ selections between the sticks: 70.8% of Lukasz Fabianski‘s (£4.5m) owners have benched the Polish shot-stopper this week.

Manuel Pellegrini has made six changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers two weeks ago, including the recall of Pablo Zabaleta (£4.3m) and Arthur Masuaku (£4.5m) at full-back.

Pellegrini has seemingly switched from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3, with Mark Noble (£4.9m), Declan Rice (£4.4m) and Pedro Obiang (£4.4m) the all-new central midfield three. The injured Jack Wilshere (£4.9m) is among those to make way.

Andriy Yarmolenko (£6.8m) gets his first Premier League start in a front three alongside Felipe Anderson (£6.9m) and Arnautovic.

Everton XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Digne, Zouma, Holgate, Kenny; Schneiderlin, Gueye; Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson, Walcott; Tosun.

West Ham United XI (4-3-3): Fabianski; Zabaleta, Balbuena, Diop, Masuaku; Noble, Rice, Obiang; Yarmolenko, Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson

If you had to take a -8 hit to make your squad look like this... would you?

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso-Robertson-AWB (Bennett,Holebas)
    Salah-Hazard-dSilva-Fraser (Neves)
    Zaha-Aguero-Wilson

My 2 costly moves would be Mendy->Bennett and Jorginho -> David Silva
    left with .02 ITB

    Pull the trigger?

Just on my post earlier about which 2 to have from

    Fraser
    D.Silva
    Maddison.

If I get Fraser and Maddison I could have them rotating nicely with Ings making my formation flexible. If I bring in D.Silva and Fraser I would have to play Ings each week with Stephens as my bench fodder.

With this in mind, would Maddison be a better option than D.Silva?

    Patricio

Would really appreciate some thoughts folks.
I bit the bullet and clicked wildcard - I just had too many players getting few minutes (Lowton, Wood, D Gray, Tosun, Mikki) in my team.
So I've got myself to this...

    Patricio - Foster
Mendy - Alonso - Robertson - Wan Bissaka - Bennet
    Hazard - Mane - D Silva - Pedro* - Fraser*
    Aguero - Zaha - Long*

Now, this isn't my final team yet, Long is just in as a placeholder. I've no funds left now.
I am in all likeliness ditching Pedro to upgrade Long. That give me £11.6 million for a midfielder and striker.

The names in my hat are Wilson, Ings, King, Jiminez ..... Fellaini Hojberg Milner Shurlle
I could keep Pedro if I went with e.g Jiiminez and downgraded Fraser

Not keen on 2 Bournemouth, but may go with 2 Bournemouth for the next 5 weeks or so.....

Would really appreciate suggestions. Essentially the * players are the ones not fixed.....

    1. AgentFern
      • 6 Years

Maybe consider 4.5/4.0 keeper combo to help free up funds. Always worked well for me in the past

My forwards for next week are Aguero, Ings, and Kamara. I've already taken a -4 to fix the rest of my team...I have 2.5 ITB, is it worth taking another -4 to bring do Kamara -> Mitrovic/King/Wilson?

I'm in a similar position (although more FTs than you) but even contemplating a -8 to completely sort out my team and keep my WC intact. The problem is that if Kun doesn't play you have no forwards and therefore ten men at best. Already feels like GW6 could be crazy with rotation so I'd say a great week to 'sneak a hit in' to guarantee starters. And then Ings is back for GW7 and your squad is probably looking dandy.

On a WC, I think I’ve resigned to losing salah, but really not sure how best to spend the funds, ratings on these would be appreciated. I was doing great till this week and have pulled the WC hastily so need to use now.

    Option 1
    Patricio / Hamer
Mendy Alonso TAA / Doherty Wan Biss
Hazard Mane Rich Fraser / Billing
    Aguero Lukaku Mitro

    Option 2
    Ederson / Hamer
Mendy Alonso Robertson Trippier / Wan Biss
Hazard Mane Rich Fraser / Billing
    Aguero Zaha Mitro

    Option 3
    Patricio / Begovic
Mendy Alonso Robertson / Doherty Wan Biss
    Hazard Mane Rich D.Silva Fraser
    Aguero Mitro / Jimanez

Currently 132 overall - easily best season

One thing I'm learning is how much luck there is. Some judgement calls (e.g. Hazard for Salah early) but calling the right captain in most weeks is a bit of luck

Also believe this year that with so much rotation, need 13 first rank players and only 1 rubbish one. Facilitated by the fact that the really expensive players aren't worth it (yet)
