Wolves unchanged yet again as Gudmundsson returns for Burnley

The first of two Premier League matches to be contested this Sunday kicks off at 13:30 BST, with Wolverhampton Wanderers taking on Burnley at Molineux.

Ruben Neves (£5.2m), without an attacking return since Gameweek 1, is by far the most widely owned player on show in the West Midlands this afternoon, sitting in over one in four Fantasy Premier League squads.

Neves has created only one chance from Gameweek 2 onwards, with all eight of his attempts on goal unsurprisingly coming from outside the opposition area.

No Wolves or Burnley player had a higher number of net transfers in than Ryan Bennett (£4.1m) this round, with the budget defender experiencing his first price rise of the season.

All six of Wolves’ backline – goalkeeper Rui Patricio (£4.5m), the three centre-halves and the two wing-backs – are currently available for £4.5m or less and have shown promise in their first four league matches this season: only two clubs have conceded fewer big chances than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side while just three sides have allowed more shots in the box.

Santo has named an unchanged side for the fifth successive league match, with Raul Jimenez (£5.5m) fit to lead the line after slight concerns about a muscle injury picked up over the international break.

Sean Dyche, meanwhile, has made three changes to the Burnley team that was defeated by Manchester United a fortnight ago.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£5.9m) returns to the Burnley starting XI – not a single FPL midfielder under the £6.0m mark registered more assists than the Icelandic midfielder in 2017/18.

Sam Vokes (£5.4m) and Ashley Barnes (£5.7m) also come into the side as Dyche fields a 4-4-2 from the start for the first time this season, with Chris Wood (£6.4m), Ashley Westwood and Dwight McNeil (both £4.5m) dropping out.

Not one of the Clarets’ players is owned by more than 10% of FPL bosses, with James Tarkowski (£5.0m) the most widely selected Burnley asset sitting in 9.8% of Fantasy squads.

Faith in the Burnley attack is also thin on the ground: not one of Burnley’s six starting midfielders or forwards is owned by more than 1% of Fantasy managers.

Wolves XI (3-4-3): Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Jonny, Moutinho, Neves, Doherty; Costa, Jota, Jimenez

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Hart; Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Lennon, Hendrick, Cork, Gudmundsson; Barnes, Vokes

Can't really pick any Wolves players on this performance. Burnley playing so badly. Worst performance by any team this season.

    2FT.. £0.0 ITB

    Ryan

    Rob Mendy Alonso AWB

    Fraser Salah Hazard

    Aguero Mitrovic Zaha

    Bench: Hamer, Walcott, Bennett, Stephens

    Do I go:

    A) Walcott + Ryan > Richarlison + Hennessey
    B) Walcott + Ryan > Maddison + Hennessey
    C) Do 1 of these and save 1FT (state which one)

    Any help appreciated 😀

...so a neutrals initial impressions at HT (non wolves/burnley player owner):

    - wolves look great, very assured, matter of time before they score
    - jonny, doherty, bennett, jiminez looking very decent value at their prices
    - burnley look abysmal, particularly going forward - hart is having a great game though
    - expect wolves to score a goal or two in the 2nd half though - no chances burnley keep a cs here
    - also seems very unlikely that burnley score there so congrats to all the jammy bennett/doherty owners

All my starting XI look good for points though, with a decent first sub. Don't you think it might be worth waiting a week. Say I want Richarlison after Arsenal; there's not so much point getting Maddison this week and then selling him if Bilva and Pedo still look good. And no so much point buying Rich this week when don't need his help, if you get my drift. He could be supsended or injured next week, which makes the transfer premature.

I'm not convinced by my argument. Just wondering if it's worth these risks to make a change or vice versa 🙂

I wouldnt pick any Wolves player based on this match. Burnley are simply atrocious. Havent won in the last 15 games, their defensive style means they never regain possession and even when they do they look clueless on the ball. No counter attacking plan (or ability) at all.

I havent seen all their games but the only one I was impressed by was the City game. No standout attacking pick. Jimenez and Jota are meh. Neves, Costa.. no thanks. Doherty, Boly and Jonny seem decent though, getting into a lot of attacking positions. But Burnley are inviting them to do so.

Just saw a clip of Wally leaving the team bus and entering the dressing room. Doesnt mean he starts though

Hey guys, no FT this week but have 0.2 spare to do Pedro > Fraser next week and then Bednarek > Alonso the week after. Fraser due to rise tonight so should I take a -4 hit to get him today?

      Patricio
      Shaw - Robertson - AWB - Tomkins
      Salah - Hazard - Pedro - Richarlison
      Aguero - Zaha

      Hart - Cairney - Ings - Bednarek

He should have scored in first half, but that was not his fault tbf.

The pass from Jota was as slow as a grandmother crossing the roads.

I just bought him this week. Still looks a decent prospect in my eyes. But just need him to score one today so he doesn't drop in price while sitting third on my bench next week. Please don't sell 🙂
