Aguero early favourite for Gameweek 7 captaincy debate but differentials appeal

Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) is expected to be the favourite for the captain debate in Gameweek 7.

We’ve started our poll to ascertain what the Fantasy Football Scout community are thinking for the next round of matches.

With Chelsea and Liverpool going head-to-head on Saturday afternoon, options such as Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) and Eden Hazard (£11.0m) are unlikely to score well in the upcoming vote.

That may mean that Harry Kane (£12.4m) and Romelu Lukaku (£11.1m) receive more attention than usual.

Both strikers have favourable fixtures, against Huddersfield and West Ham respectively, and have found some form in recent weeks.

Differentials may well be found at Goodison Park with Richarlison (£6.6m) the likeliest to take advantage of Fulham’s defensive frailties.

However, Everton’s back-line has been almost as poor as the Cottagers’ in 2018/19, opening the door for Aleksandar Mitrovic (£7.0m) to get a look in too.

        Bottomed. Ignoring the headline, can’t help but think Kane is worth -4 for Aguero as a short term captaincy punt.

        Aguero is surely vital for the Hoff (a) early fixture on Tuesday and his minutes are clearly being managed. Don’t really want to captain him again with this in mind and no stellar options otherwise this GW.

        Kane, meanwhile, looked sharper and said as much, while Poch confirmed he will play him. Less traveling over the four fixtures too, including Barca.

        Sense or nonsense?!

          It isn't nonsense exactly. If we buy the concept of fixtures generating form - these are definitely the ones that can ignite Kane's season & might make sense to jump on him early I suppose.

          But looking at the facts of what we know - he got a pen vs Brighton, missed a v good chance at the end / kept shooting right at Ryan / was slow on his heels to turn in that Alli cross.

          Bearing in mind that Aguero has the ability to explode in either of those home games, it's such a huge risk - especially for a -4.

          But, if you've combed over all the possibilities and think it's the right thing to do, then go for it & good luck to you.

            Thanks a lot. Risk it is, and probably on the back of frustration from Aguero’s 60 mins vs Cardiff. That Aguero explosion is always on the cards, though it’s only 3 or 4 per season and I will be fearful/banking on Pep’s mercy on Saturday. You never know, out of the front 5 he is the only permanent starter this season in the league and himself has only 1 goal in 5 games.

          I have the exact same reasoning, im on WC currently and i am picking Kane ahead of Aguero for similar reasons.

          Aguero will play max 60mins vs Brighton, potentially less. Then going to Anfield the week after.

          Kane has huds this week , but the kicker is that he has Cardiff(H) next gwk which is a massive upgrade.

          People are scared of Aguero and are blinded by the gwk2 score. Kane is playing that exact opponent now, whilst his stats are picking up. Could be a perfect storm

        I deliberated for hours last night, whether to take Mendy out on a free. I decided against it and knew I would be losing 0.1 in the process.
        I can live with that. Everyone is jumping on the already over crowded Trippier train.
        I think he is going to troll a lot when he’s rested.
        Laporte isn’t certain of starts with Otamendi back in contention. I said Pep was unsure of Mendys return yesterday. Imagine the scenes if he is fit.
        Will wait for after the cup games this week to decide what option looks best!
        Hopefully Kompany and Stones start tonight as Laporte would look more assured of a start!

          For some the price drop is irrelevant- it’s the opportunity cost that matters. If you had moved Mendy for Walker when the news broke you could have been 12 points clear by the end of this weekend.

        On a gameweek such at this, with Chelsea vs Liverpool taking up a lot of essential picks on both sides, does anyone think it's a good time for a free hit?

        My thinking is that it removes the probable offset of points for forwards vs defenders in the same game.

        I'm looking at maybe 3 arsenal, 3 man city and 3 spurs for one week.

          Teams playing each other doesn't necessarily mean less points, especially for attackers. Alonso and Robertson are also the type of defenders who could return well. I'm playing them all.

                  We play this game every week and, for most of us, it's a plodding road to a top 10k finish with gnashed teeth over cameos, benched points and other small time non-discussions.

                  So why not go big and sell Salah or buy Kane or triple up on your defence?

                  It could go tits up but at least you can take comfort in the fact that you took that chance.

                      A huge amount of managers don't make their own decisions so will just sheep after the next trend and get scared of selling a potent attacker because no-one else is, or very few at least. Never understood this myself.
