FPL half-term report: the 20 Premier League teams ranked by KPI data

This latest members’ article looks at the performances of the top-flight clubs this season from an underlying statistics point of view.

The aim is to pinpoint which areas all of the Premier League teams are strong in, as well as highlighting any weaknesses that the key performance indicators might betray.

Each statistic is ranked in relation to the other Premier League sides, with 1st being the best and 20th the worst. For example, Manchester City are marked as 1st for expected goals conceded (xGC) as this is the lowest figure in the whole of the division.

We have also calculated the 20 clubs’ average FPL fixture difficulties (where 2.00 is the easiest fixture and 5.00 is the toughest, according to the ratings given in the game itself) from Gameweeks 1-8 in order to give some context – and mitigation where needed – as to the rankings.

    Morning lads!

    Ederson (Hamer)
Alonso - TAA - Bennett (AWB, Kabasele!)
Salah - Richarlison - Fraser - Mane (Stephens!)
    Aguero - Vardy - Murray

0.8 ITB and 0 FT. Still got my WC.

    Anything worth hit here? Thanks!

    Got myself in a pickle

    1) Pererya (don’t ask)>> Fraser/Maddison
    2) S.Cook>> Doherty

Either one would be in starting XI this week.

Also, cheeky question but can a member tell me where arsenal rank in this article?

Can’t give the game away (there’s not an overall rank anyway) but they are more or less where you would expect. Most attacking KPIs are above average, defensive ones less so.

Who do you think are the best potential Fraser replacements in the 5-7M bracket after Bournemouth's fixtures turn?

Don't see much that excites me, may even downgrade to Kenedy for Newcastle's run of 3 home games in 4 so I can upgrade elsewhere to a KDB or Laca (wildcarding in 15 or 16).

Assuming Milner is out for sometime is it correct to assume that Mane is ahead of Salah on penalties?

Or will salah be allowed to take the next few to gift him a few ‘free’ goals? Given that he seems to be trying so hard in front of goal.

    Surgery:
    -4 to
Move Hennessy and Shaw to Ryan and Yedlin (Only have Hamer and both long term moves)
    or
    -4 to
Move Kane and Moura to Laca and Mane/KDB (possible big earners in next few weeks)

West Ham have certainly improved their defence and I think the upcoming run of games looks good for them. Balbuena at 4.4 looks an appealing option as he's a contender in the BPS and also a big threat from set pieces. I have considered buying him after the Tottenham game.

Is Jonny Castro a poor version of Doherty or are they similar. Didn't want to be railroaded in the Doherty transfer when he went up. If I get Jonny, might I just as well get Bennett. AWB leaving.

Jonny is just about as attacking as Doherty but his main flaw is picking up yellow cards and that could affect his bonus points potential.

For those bringing Salah in, who are you dropping to accommodate him?

Richarlison, Fraser and Maddison. Not keen to lose any. Fraser's fixtures are gonna turn soon so he'll be out come GW 11 regardless.

Richarlison has a mixed run of fixtures coming up with Pool, Utd and Che all away in the next 6/7 games.

Maddison has the best fixtures of the bunch.

Leaning towards Fraser but interested to hear who you are dropping and why?

It’s a tough decision to sell any of those 3 this week.

I’d probaly wait a week to get Salah if you’re not going to cap him this week.

Maybe Fraser as you’ll probably want to get rid of him in 2 gameweeks.

Maddison’s fixtures and Richarlison playing up front rules them out for me.

Probably in the minority but I would go Ryan, more on the basis that if you have a Wolves def, upcoming double ups look less appealing. It is a close call tho

Was about to ask the exact same thing. Already have a wolves defensive double up so avoiding pat. At the moment I’m on Fabianski for the saves

Player I would want out: Begovic, Scmeichel, Tomkins, Neves. So no need for WC

    Please rmwct:

    Patricio / Fabianski
    Robertson/Mendy/Doherty/Bennett/Yedlin
    Hazard/Mane/Knockaert/Richarlison/Fraser
    Aguero/Firmino/Wilson

    £0.2 itb

I'm also intending to save a FT in GW10 to transfer Wilson & Bennett/Doherty out in GW11.

    Many thanks!!!

      Solid team.

I personally prefer bench fodder 5th mids so that I don't get benching headaches. Assuming you will play 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 most weeks, I'd downgrade Knockaert to 4.5 mid. Then keep the spare cash to upgrade Wilson in 2 GW for Arnie and possibly then get Knockaert in for Fraser since BOU fixtures turn.

    A) KDB + Vardy = 18.7m
    B) Aguero + Maddison = 18.2m

    Hennessey
    Alonso TAA Doherty (WB Peltier)
    Sterling Sane Richarlison Maddison (Kenedy)
    Kane Firmino Mitrovic

1ft 0.8itb. I'm thinking wildcard next week is better than now, because i want more information on TAA situation and if Mendy walks back in starting 11, and how Salah look. Also need Hazard asap, but expect a defensive performance from Manutd. Thoughts?

    A) Kane to Aguero
    B) Sane to Mane
    C) WC

They both looked fairly lively in the one game I watched, against Burnley. Better options out there. Cardiff just are not very good, whilst that doesn’t mean there isn’t a source of points, I don’t think there will be a consistent points scorer ala Adam in that Blackpool side from years ago

    Good morning.

For the next 4-8 gameweeks, would you rather have:

    A) Murray and Mitrovic
    B) Wilson and Arnautovic
    C) Wilson and Murray

"Why not Mitrovic and Arnautovic?" I hear you ask. Because that would stretch my budget too thin.

For all of Kun’s longevity in the prem it’s meant ever since Tevez has left (so in recent years) we as FPL managers have for so long had the option of a player with this very specific role of *small window striker who is too expensive for 30 odd Gameweeks of the year but is useful, massively underpriced, and mass transferred in all at once when Aguero invariably gets injured.* Fond memories of filling that role season after season...Jesus, Iheanacho, Dzeko, Jovetic, Negredo, etc.
Just a little nostalgia going around, long live the Kun 🙂

I like it. For all the names you mentioned as fillers, I don’t think I have any real memory of success with any of them. Maybe it’s why Aguero is a security blanket of sorts

I remember Negredo had a decent spell at one point for somewhere around 7.5m that made a fair few consider him once he went to Middlesbrough, Jovetic would just pop up with inexplicable braces but consistency was far from common with him and Iheanacho was a delight in his City days so under priced and always scored seemingly late in games but never got enough minutes to be dangerous, everyone always underscored his U-something potential in those days

Dzeko and Jesus have been the real quality ones of the ones I can recall but you’re right, I can’t even remember sustained success with them, I always felt like I wanted more out of Dzeko and even now we don’t know what to do with Jesus same as we did when he first burst onto the scene

Dzeko, your right about that when he did get a run, always thought he left some points behind. If I remember, Mark from this site was a Dzeko man. Probably fighting out a spot with Yakubu for a spot in this all time fpl 15! (The reminiscing brought up memories of Yakubu’s 4 goal haul he had to knock me out of the cup)

Wildcard gave me the boost I was looking forward but created a bit of a problem.

    Got this

    Ederson (Hamer)
    Jonny Yedlin Belerin Smith (Duffy)
    Hazard Rich Fraser (Maddison Ward)
    Kane Laca Aguero

2 FT and not a lot I want to do this week. Any ideas? would like to keep 2 for next gw ideally
