Sign up now for next Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup

February 24th 2018. The big winners were Liverpool and Brighton, who each recorded 4-1 victories in their respective triumphs over West Ham and Championship-bound Swansea.

However, in north London, under the banner of Sparta Rotterdam, a team of FFScout luminaries were also celebrating, as they lifted the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup. A real-life football tournament which brought to together over 30 grassroots players from around the country.

The Charity Cup is returning on the afternoon of Saturday 17 November 2018 (during the international break) and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The format will depend on numbers, but with a full 3G 11-a-side pitch (which can also be divided) available to us all afternoon between 2pm and 7pm, we have the capacity and flexibility to structure the day however we wish.

We are extremely fortunate to have secured The Thomas Parmiter Sports Centre in north Watford (WD25 0UU), which is a fabulous facility and is perfectly located just minutes away from Junction 6 of the M1 and Junction 21A of the M25.

For those travelling up from London by train, Garston Station is just 1.5 miles away. We will have the entire venue to ourselves with ample parking and with a number of pubs barely a mile away.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part, whatever the level and whether you are fit enough to play all day or just make a cameo appearance. We’ll be organising players into squads so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to bring invite a guest player or two to boost the numbers.

All you need to do is email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com as soon as possible to confirm your interest and provide your contact details, at which point you’ll be added to the relevant WhatsApp group unless you would prefer to be kept informed by email or text instead.

February’s tournament proved a huge success and raised over £1,000 for Melanoma Research Foundation. This year we hope to raise more even money, involve even more as we donate to men’s mental health charity CALM.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. On average, 12 men take their own life every day – more than three times the number of women.

Two of my uncles committed suicide so I personally think it’s a great cause. CALM works to prevent male suicide by providing services for men who are down or in crisis, and by campaigning for culture change so men feel able to seek help.

To donate please visit our JustGiving page:

All money raised will go directly to the charity, so please give generously.

CALM’s helpline – 0800 58 58 58 – and webchat are open daily 5pm-midnight. It’s free, anonymous and confidential.

For more information about CALM and the impact your donation will have, please read here.

CALM is a charity registered in England and Wales (1110621) and in Scotland (SC044347)

Aguero thing is fairly simple IMO - he plays until Pep thinks the game is won.

    Played 90 vs Wolves (1-1)
    Played 90 vs Newc (2-1)
Taken off on 57 mins vs Fulham (at 3-0), with CL in midweek.
Taken off on 60 mins vs Cardiff (at 3-0), CC in midweek but was rested.

So I think I'll captain in the hope that he contributes to City being out of sight by 65 mins, or is kept on late in the unlikely event that Brighton hold out a la Wolves.

Hoffenheim are not as good as Lyon - could even see Jesus getting that start. Pep back in the dugout (I think?), can only see a City win.

Yeah they did well at Anfield, but if that is the case then I reckon Aguero will stay on.

Conversely, Kane is assured of 90 minutes every single time and is playing the two worst teams back to back. Very very strongly considering Aguero to Kane

Yeah can see the logic behind that, but right now that's just an extra 30 mins of ambling around the pitch 😉

You could even make the argument that 2 of Aguero's next 3 games are better than Kane's.

Think I'm playing 343 as I expect Bournemouth to score v palace....

What puts me off keeping walcott is that he keeps being taken off at 70 mins and with lookman and Bernhard around there is a chance he may be benched soon....

Transfer next week would be salah and ings to kane (c) and knockheart or gudmundsson either for free or for a hit......then wildcard during the break....

The attraction for kane in gw8 is that he is a clear cut captaincy option.

This is what my team currently looks like for this GW:

    £0.6itb 0FT

    Foster
    Alonso, Robbo, Doherty, PVA
    Salah, Mané, Fraser
    Aguero (C), Wilson, Mitro

    (Fab) (Pedro, AWB, Hughes)

Potential for a good number of points lost on the bench but I still think BB needs to be saved for DGW

    Would you:
    A) Keep as above
    B) Keep but change bench to ...?
    C) Pedro > Rich / Madd (-4)

If it helps I am 150k OR and chasing in my cash ML in which most of those above me have Haz and only one of Salah/ Mané

    Cheers!

It's too much of a risk for me in fixtures where Mané could be all over the points - he loves a tough fixture. Also the amount it would leave in the bank would seem a bit unnecessary

      Salah and Hazard?

Of the 2 I actually prefer Salah even though more expensive.

Salah not set the world alight yet but had done well enough and could have had a lot more if finishing had been better or had more luck.

Personally I removed Salah a few weeks back for haz but will be bringing back in a few weeks.

I would also not be surprised if he did well in next couple of games even though on paper they are tricky matches.

Hmmm Andy's proposed move, the Salah to Kane to Salah hokey cokey (using 4 transfers including a hit), is interesting at least and very aggressive!
Nice to hear a different (less safe) thought perspective on the Scoutcast 🙂
I just remember Kane having two 'no-brainer fixtures' together like these last season and blanking in both of them! I'll be avoiding him most likely, although a hattie v Huddersfield would throw a spanner into the works!

I like the guy, but to be completely honest, I do find it a bit weird/problematic having someone on the SC that has a personal and financial interest in people tuning into another channel to listen to thoughts and tips.
I know they joked about it previously, but I find it odd, as it will be a best case scenario of repetition or worst case, it’s direct competition between the two.

Repetition is an issue. You hear the exact same point 3 times a week. Once on the stream, once on the preview, once on the scoutcast.

Im a fan of andy too. There's a lot of FF content out there, and people have time for it. I dont think there's no competition. You wouldnt choose one or the other. Just watch both. The more information and viewpoints out there the better. I dont think its weird at all, with regards how it originated, its like tv show Friends, then Joey had his spin-off. Or the Clevelend show or frasier.

            1. Licious Lizard

I get your point, but this is different.
Yes there are different podcasts/channels out there, but they are still competitors. They might do a guest appearance on each other’s shows once or twice a year, but having the same guy in 2 different ones might cause an issue.
If Andy has a real gem, would he prefer to divulge it in the SC or his own show, which he has a financial interest in? As I said, repetition is the best case scenario - conflict of interest is the worst case.
Frazier, Joey etc. all started after the original show had ended right. They weren’t vying for the same viewers with similar brands... And I don’t think FFS has any shares/compensation in Andy’s show, like the producers of Friends/Cheers definitely had in Joey/Frasier.

All podcasts and channels, pour through stats and the overall picks are pretty much the same. I don't buy into the keeping 'gems' argument. None of them really have 'gems', They have different viewpoints on the same 'gems'. In Scoutcast some saw Kane as this week's gem, Az some saw differently. Just different view points.
Andy was on scoutcast on previous seasons before setting up his own stream. It's not like competing in the same way as watching a TV series where you competing with other hour long programming. I don't think there is any cannibalisation between Andy's stream and FFScout. I think they compliment each other.
My criticism if any is that is there is too much fence sitting, on across all FF sites. I think Jonty is the king of fence sitting. Az i dig. I preferred Mark, as he'd walk the walk. I'd like it if people stick there neck out with a direct view. It's always 'player x is a good pick but...xyz'. Then a week later they'll claim credit for the ones that come off, discard the players that didn't. Andy's stream is different to Scoutcast it's far more casual, you'd get Kane or Aguero? Richarlison or Maddison? Pepsi or Coke? Mcd's or Burger King? ...

Of course a lot of FF content is going over some of the same topics, stats, etc.
But why is it not comparable to watching competing television shows?
People only have a certain amount of time to watch to shows about FPL.
Of course Andy is trying to build his own show to be as big as possible, which will inevitably compete with the SC. Where is he going to give the best points on his player selections?
And no, you can’t (really) drink Coke and Pepsi at the same time...
The rest of your comment is on the general state of FF content, which I agree with you in.

Most FF youtubers do live streams and what people call 'snackable' content, that is consumed with very little effort. I've watched both. In his short videos, Andy takes the exact same view point into scoutcast, the benefit is that you get feedback from the others. I guess it's a sense check or critque on his thoughts.
Andy's live streams are different tho. You can watch them as videos, but if you watch them live you can, if want, interact with andy, put direct questions for him to answer in real time.
Scoutcast is different as it's pretty much 4 blokes having a chat.
So we have interactive livestreams which Andy does, vs Scoutcast which is not interactive. They may overlap in their short videos, such as top captaincy choices per week, but everyone does those.

I think that “move” makes sense if you’re trying to catch up. Less so if you have a high OR and will probably captain Aguero this weekend to maintain. Interest though.

He blanked in two "no-brainer" fixtures but prior to that he hit consecutive hattricks.

Personally, i don't like the idea of doing a transfer hokey cokey between a mid and forward. Involves two transfers every time, unlike between two heavy hutter strikers from previous years. Also assumes NOTHING else in your squad needs fixing, or else more hits required

Depending on the lineup today, you could get Trip in for Mendy against Hud. Great CS chance plus some assist potential. Also if Lucas starts today and doesnt look likely for the weekend, Lucas to rich could work

Have Mendy, Peltier, Kamara and Pedro kicking the bench. How would you priotitise these transfers

    B. Pedro to Richarlison
    C. Kamara to Jiminez

It depends on Mendy news. I have Peltier and was planning on doing A this week, but if we get some indication Mendy could be out for a while longer I may move him to Doherty instead and use the cash elsewhere. Not sure yet tbh.

Fairly set on WC after Gw8, and have 3 pool, so will probably do...
Salah and Ings to Kane and up to 7.5mid this week.

    A) Ramsey
    B) Richarlison
    C) Don't like the idea at all.

    Sanity check this plan.

This week: Mane & McArthur -> Rich & Maddison (-4)

    GWK 8: Bank FT

GWK 9: Lukaku & Madd or Rich -> Salah & Mitro

On GWK 9 team should hopefully look like:

    Hart
    Mendy Alonso Holebas AWB Bennett
    Madd/Rich Salah Haz Fraser Billing
    Kun Mitro Wilson

The main issue I'd be leaving myself with is having Hart in goals against city.

Complete confusion on formation and who to start this weekend. Below correct? Or should I be benching one of Robertson / Alonso / Ings in favour of Bennet (SOU)?

    Ederson
    Trippier / Robbo / Alonso

    Aguero (c) / Vardy / Ings

    Hamer / Bennett / WB / Billing

    Team atm -

    Patricio - Hamer
    Alonso - Trippier - AWB - Bennett - Schelotto
    Sterling - Hazard - Fraser - Ward - Schneiderlin
    Aguero - Lukaku - Vardy

1 FT and 0.3m in the bank.

This GW - Hazard ➡ Rcharlison
    GW 8 - Aguero ➡ Kane
    GW 9 - Sterling ➡ Salah
    GW 10 - Schelotto ➡ TAA

    Thoughts on this plan?

Better fixtures for Lukaku in GW 8 -11 and I also expect Jesus to take minutes off Aguero when CL will be in full swing during that period.

Also, richarlison has far better fixtures than Hazard in the next few and hazard usually gets stifled against the big teams.
