Salah’s effective ownership balloons as Triple Captains played

It has been a quiet Gameweek in terms of chips used in the top 10k.

Actually, for the first time this season, the most-used is not the Wildcard.

Only 0.62% of them were activated in the top 10k as opposed to 1.15% active Triple Captains.

The vast majority of those were placed on Mohamed Salah (1.05%), with Sadio Mane basically being the only other triple captained player (0.09%).

This is understandable ahead of Liverpool’s Anfield meeting with Fulham’s poor defence on Sunday. The Cottagers have conceded 29 goals this season, more than any other side thus far.

This interest in Liverpool assets is very evident in captaincy polls as well. Salah is the top target with 59.58% while Mane is second with 26.93%.

That raises Salah’s effective ownership to 121.76% being the only player this week with more than 100% average weight in the top 10k.

The closest to him is Eden Hazard with 92.98% and Sergio Aguero with 87.82%.

However, this very high effective ownership of Salah doesn’t actually mean he is in all teams at this bracket.

The Egyptian is actually in just 61.1% of the top 10k squads. Most of them captained him, which is why his effective ownership is almost double his raw ownership.

In fact, Salah is ranked ninth when it comes to basic ownership in the top10k

Ahead of him is Hazard (86.11%), Aguero (85.4%), Marcos Alonso (83.4%), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (77.2%), Andrew Robertson (70%), Marko Arnautovic (69.6%), Richarlison (67.9%) and Callum Wilson (62.4%).

Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic has emerged as a very popular option amongst the game’s current best managers. Supported by his good form and appealing upcoming fixtures, he is currently the second highest-owned forward in the top10k and was transferred in by 28.6% of these managers this week.

The main fall-guy for him is Aleksandar Mitrovic whose top10k ownership dropped from 37% to just 5.9% in a matter of days.

While Mitrovic’s usefulness was clearly at an end anyway, such a swathe of sales shows the influence of the market. His value was on the fall all week, and these managers may well have also sold him en masse to avoid falling foul of that.

We could possibly see this as a sign that the so-called ‘template team’ can quickly change when it needs to.

For example, if we look at the Wildcard template of this week, we see Arnautovic and Mat Ryan making their way into the active teams.

Meanwhile, the defence options seem to be a bit static at the moment. The usual suspects of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alonso, Robertson and Benjamin Mendy still lead the way in most squads.

Despite strong upcoming fixtures, the top 10k are yet to really invest in Arsenal attack. Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have effective ownerships of 10.22% and 3.73% respectively, largely on account of such a cluster of value forwards.

On the other hand, while Manchester City the Manchester derby ahead of them, interest in their assets is still very high.

Four Man City players have effective ownerships of higher than 10%, namely Aguero (87.8%), Mendy (56.1%), Ederson (26.5%) and Raheem Sterling (14.1%).

Not surprisingly, if we look at the Premier League teams with the most players per top10k team, we find that Liverpool and Man City are tied in the first place as they both provide 2.1 players per FPL team at that level.

Arsenal are not even in the top 10 sides represented in Fantasy teams in the top 10k.

Chelsea are a close third with 2.0 average players. Wolves, West Ham and Bournemouth provide 1.3, 1.3 and 1.2 players respectively.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool and Man City players will repay the faith of both their football and Fantasy managers this week.

Interesting that everyone on the last page wants around 15 points from TC.

Last season, the average from the teams who finished top 12 overall was 4.75 with the TC. Highest was 11....

Anyone else finding this season very dull in FPL terms?

Practically every team is the same bar a few players. The way the season has panned out so far I think it's probably worse than it has ever been.
Robertson, Mendy, Alonso (occasionally a TTA, VVD, Ederson or Laporte instead) + Wolves defence and most likely AWB.
Salah, Hazard, Mane, Richarlison in most with some minor variations like Fraser, City mids, brief flavour of the week.
    Aguero in all.
Everyone migrating to the same >£7m-sh forwards at the same times, there's a small pool of about 5 of so.

    Basically...
The premium defenders are obvious, as are most budget defenders. The midfielders of all prices are obvious, the only real team variation coming in bench fodder budget mids. And the pool of forwards to choose between is probably the smallest it has ever been since I started playing in the mid 2000s.

Pretty unremarkable season so far in my opinion

Not really my rank is fine for November. I'm just finding myself bored with it. I search through my mini-leagues each Saturday and most of the teams i'm keeping an eye on have the same 7, 8 or 9 starters as me. It's a bit sh!t

Well look at forwards last season, same as now pretty much except premium priced players Lukaku, Morata, Firmino were popular options. Aguero was frustratingly less guaranteed PL starts so not in anywhere near as many teams. Kane was obviously more reliable. It only takes a handful of expensive form players added to the pool of good options to shake things up, but it's kind of stagnant so far this year.

Really? Fair point then but I think there's some dramatic changes in fpl this season like early CRY n WOL triple up, haz no longer a troll, fairy tale story like Fraser, Rich and some others. Being over optimistic here probably

Sterling is mixing things up. Wouldnt say mane + salah is that common either. And the difference in price between these two leads to different teams. Epsecially the salah-less teams look a lot different than the template

If you want to have fun and success (if your prediction game is on point) then you should be buying these players you mention before they are in every team and then cast them aside when the time is right.
Theres always a small pool of highly owned players by now. Guess what, it's the players that have scored the most points so far and the masses chase points.

When the dgws and bgws were announced everyone focused just on those weeks and how to play the chips. Meanwhile I wimdcarded way earlier and went on a mad run while most teams were holding onto crap players for a crap bgw and holding onto a wc while leaking points. Flexibility is key. Will be nice to not have keep a dgw free for TC.

No, you only get 50% of the price rise so a player needs to rise twice for that. Could happen to Jimenez, Auba, Alonso and Sterling if they have a good game tomorrow.

    -8 to:

      People will say ARS/TOT
Trippier. Attack harder to justify. Kane would require some restructuring for most with Aguero being the most expensive striker for most.
      Arsenal...Laca or PEA I suppose.

We may see people switching from Aguero to Sterling en masse, especially with Aguero more likely to be rotated with Jesus over the Xmas schedule, therefore allowing for Kane or Arsenal striker with Sterling (no Salah)

        I may well go Mane/Kun/Robertson > Ozil/Kane/Trippier.

But I don't need a wildcard to do that.

Im planning to ditch most of my players

      Core will be something like

      Fabi/Button
One premium defender in Alonso/Mendy, Arsenal defender (bellerin/Kolasinac), Hudds defence, Doherty, 5th yet to decide
      Sterling Hazard Mane/Alli Fraser/Brooks 4.5
      Laca Kane Arna

I have 14 from 5 and am in the same boat. It is the fact that not many did anything yesterday and the fact that most owned players play today that led to the small rise. We both could end up with a small red arrow after today.

I have Mendy, Alonso, Robertson, Salah (c) and Aguero to play plus Richarlison (or Kenedy as first sub).

So it will probably come down to two from Sterling, Mane, Hazard blanking to keep rank.

    Salah, Fraser > Sterling, Mane

I was quite settled to make that move during IB, but now not so sure. Fraser is do good value for his price.
Would you do it or not?

If your team is set in a way to start Fraser most times during his difficult run it could be worth it.
But he is indeed good value for his price.

He used to be rotated with Jimenez, but now he is starting each game. Those value players like him, Jimenez or Doherty are do hard to her rid of.

I think, in general terms, those would be good moves. However, after the IB you need to start looking at fixtures and December game crush. You may want to get at least one good Arsenal and Spurs attacker in, and have a decent bench. Selling Salah enables quite a few options so use the IB to do some good planning.

      1. Bialystrzelec

I bring Mane in with a plan to switch him to one of Spurs mids. My bench also should be fine during that period.

With Sterling on board I could consider Aguero to Laca or Arnie move, but I agree with you. That move, as good as it looks, takes a lot of flexibility on the future.

I agree - I think trying to keep 2 FT's for GW 15 or 16 may be essential. Need a Spurs mid to hit some form, though, to take advantage of the fixtures.

I think we might get a Kun/Pep special - Salah starts, and plays until the match is clearly safe (e.g. 3-0) - if that happens in 45 mins then he won't come out 2nd half. He will be needed for Egypt's Afcon qualifier against Tunisia next Friday (will be Egypts toughest group game) but I doubt he'll play in the second game against Saudi on the 20th.

Depends on team structrure and what you paid for Fraser. If you have cover for his worst fixtures, he is still someone you probably should keep. I paid 5.6 and he's not getting anywhere. Arnautovic better long term pick than Anderson and double up seems a bit much so wouldn't choose him.

Richarlison and Martial for me. At least for the midterm.
