Scoutcast Episode 278 – Greatness

Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.

Mohamed Salah certainly provided a timely reminder that he is already one of Fantasy Football’s all-time greats on Saturday, with a hat-trick at the Vitality Stadium against Bournemouth.

But even that impressive display is seemingly not enough to convince all of the Scoutcast crew that the Liverpool attacker should be an essential part of their festive lineups.

Joining Joe, David and Luke in this week’s episode is Adam Hopcroft, who has featured on our Meet the Manager series and is among those still looking to ditch the Egyptian.

During a “Salexit” discussion in our community questions section, Adam reveals that there may well be better premium assets who are more deserving of attention.

In contrast, Joe and David are still backing the Reds’ marksman following his recent goal glut, which also includes a midweek strike against Napoli in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Luke is resolutely continuing his no-Salah policy, even though it cost him dear last time out.

Salah unsurprisingly dominates the crew’s look back at Gameweek 16, including a special instalment of Rough with the Smooth, dedicated to those who jettisoned the Liverpool man before his weekend heroics.

The crew also provide an update on the latest whipping boys and the potential captain candidates who look set to exploit their frailties over Christmas.

Elsewhere, our community questions section takes in the emerging battle between Fantasy Premier League’s old guard of veterans and the new, social-media-and-price-prediction-site-savvy managers on the scene.

The crew round off with a look at the best differentials and clean sheet prospects in Gameweek 17, as well as revealing their transfer and captaincy plans.

Are the scoutcasts worth watching these days?

I haven't watched one for a while as I thought they had become a bit flat and predictable

Watching? Does anyone actually spend an hour or two watching them?

Just listen to them whilst doing something useful 🙂

I didn't know that's what he was after. Fair enough, even if he doesn't hit Parky heights he could still reach Edmunds or Saville levels.

            For Saville read, er, Wogan

Not really. They spend the first 20 minutes talking about their own GW scores which frankly speaking isn't of any relevance to anyone (apart from the fanboys of the casters). Then another 20 minutes with roughs and smooths which again is pretty irrelevant. If you want 'straight to the point' talk then there are better podcasts out there.

Up to now Fabianski has 63 points and Lössl only 42 points. Also West Ham has tasty fixtures. In my opinion West Ham has a better defence.

I think their fixtures are pretty similar, but fair point on the point gap, just feels like Huddersfield def is finding their feet right now.

Best fixtures and stats combination of the candidates
Patricio , Fab & him are the 3

If you actually analyse Fabianski long term fixtures they not that great for clean sheets . Lots of awayscsnf home games are against the big boys

You're right it does look good, I'm steering clear of Patricio though, no need to have double wolves def, you're making a solid case for Foster, but I just feel like none of these guys could keep a pool clean right now, so the saves argument has ticked to for Fabianski for me? What happened to the good ol' days when we could get a 4.5 keeper with 10 cleans?

              Agreed

I’m slightly swayed by the fact that I have Balbuena already (and Doherty)

A lot closer if you don’t (sensibly) have a hammers defender

Only a yellow for that challenge by Antonio Valencia there. English teams lucky again!

  8. Adriano

    A. Sane and Chambers/Kiko

    B. Son and Kola

Both players are rotation risks but their underlying stats are too good to pass on and I'll be going without Robertson for the next five. I'm leaning towards A as the issue with B is I'll be leaving a fairly high percentage clean sheet on the bench almost every week plus I'm not confident with Kola's game time past the next few games. I already have Sterling by the way.

    Schmeichel
    TAA Kolasinac Alonso
    Pereyra Dilva Anderson Hazard
    Kamara Lacazette Kane

    Stekelenburg Richarlison AWB Digne

    0.1 ITB & 1 FT.

What would YOU do this week if this was your team?
Not concerned about TAA as don't really wanna bench AWB anyway and he will just come in but Dilva has to go and probably Lacazette.

Ship David Silva out because he is injured and will not play in the old year.
