Dugout Discussion

Injured Wilson misses out but Fraser is fit to start

The first of two Premier League matches on Sunday kicks off at 14:15 GMT, as Everton entertain Bournemouth at Goodison Park.

The Cherries had injury doubts over three of their attack-minded players coming into this fixture, though Ryan Fraser and Joshua King have recovered from injury and illness respectively to take their places in Eddie Howe’s starting XI.

Callum Wilson, however, misses out with a hamstring strain.

Bournemouth’s teamsheet showed Fraser and King being joined by Junior Stanislas in a front three, with David Brooks stationed in a more withdrawn position in central midfield.

Dan Gosling has shaken off a knock to feature, while there is an unexpected return for Adam Smith too – the full-back had been anticipated to be absent until February.

Nathaniel Clyne gets his first league start for Bournemouth at right-back.

Richarlison is back up front for the hosts this afternoon, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin dropping to the bench.

Ademola Lookman and Bernard, who both scored in the 2-1 win over Lincoln City last weekend, will provide the width on the flanks, as Theo Walcott takes his place among the Everton substitutes for the first time since Gameweek 17.

Gylfi Sigurdsson lines up in his customary “number ten” role.

Seamus Coleman is reinstated at right-back after missing the Toffees’ last league match, with Lucas Digne returning at left-back after a breather in the FA Cup.

Yerry Mina is the fall guy at centre-back as Kurt Zouma is paired with Michael Keane.

If the form book is anything to go by, then this fixture ought to have goals: Everton haven’t kept a clean sheet since Gameweek 13 (only Manchester City are on such a bad run), while Bournemouth had conceded more goals than any other Premier League side (22) in the eight Gameweeks preceding this one.

The two sides indeed shared four goals in the reverse fixture in Gameweek 3, with Walcott, Keane, King and Nathan Ake on target.

Richarlison was sent off in the very same game.

Wilson registered two assists that day and the Cherries may miss the talismanic England striker this afternoon: the third-most-owned forward in FPL has been directly involved in 17 (nine goals, eight assists) of Bournemouth’s 31 league strikes this season.

Everton XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Zouma, Digne, Gueye, Gomes, Lookman, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Richarlison.

Bournemouth XI (4-3-3): Begovic, Clyne, Ake, S. Cook, Smith, Gosling, Lerma, Brooks, Stanislas, King, Fraser.

Ings is the only striker who may actually score at around the £5.5m price range right? He has dropped and Barnes gone up so can't do that swap anymore

5.9 so just outside of my budget. I was going to go Barnes but he went up and Ings came down. My priority was Lovren to TAA so it would had to wait until the coming week anyway

Locadia for Brighton has done OK recently...however he's likely to have Glenn Murray take his place.

Antonio was on goals on Sunday this morning, and from the way he was talking, it seems like West Ham are resigned to losing Arnie this transfer window.

He’s the board’s mouthpiece, so he’s definitely reliable. Transfers fall through all the time though, not sure he’d even pass a medical at the moment. And not sure why we would accept a fee lower than he’s worth, he’s twice as good as Benteke for example.

He’s going, I didn’t think he would until yesterday’s game. His attitude & energy was completely different, waving the fans goodbye, brother/agent publicly talking up the move. Yeah he’s off...
I can’t see us buying in January to replace him either which is a shame but I expect a marquee striker signing in the summer.

I believe without checking he’s on 40 goals in over 170 appearances, numbers aren’t great & it’s only this season where his stats are flying. 35million for a 29 year old isn’t bad business

Once Yarmolenko and Balbuena is back, West Ham will really only be missing a RB for their first XI. Everyone else will be a squad player.

            Fabianski
            ????? Balbuena Diop Cresswell
            Rice Lanzini Obiang
            Yarmolenko Chicharito Anderson

Chicharito will never be more than a super sub. And one who is always injured at that.

Your fellow Hammer above seems less convinced about how good the deal is.

He only started playing striker last season, since when his goal and assist stats are amazing.

Half way through the season too, it was the best idea David Moyes has had in years.

At that price in FPL, and being English, and probably the biggest deal of the window... we can expect Auba level price rises

Im pretty sure he isnt injured, Chelsea want him for the remainder of this season at least right so if he is injured the deal is off. He could be ill, but suspect he is jsut benched to protect him. And next few days the deal will be done

No chance Chelsea spunk 75 million on him. Icardi would only be 35 million more.

This isn't overspending. This is obscene, outrageous. 75 million for a Pound shop Piatek.

If Chelsea play 75m for Callum Wilson, the whole premier league needs to be cancelled, it will be officially unsustainable. Even 50m is eye watering.

Bournemouth have named their price as 75 million. Tbf this was off reddit but it wasn't downvoted so I assume the link the post used was just as reasonable as all the rest.

What do we reckon Wilson is worth?
Given his injury record and tbh his relatively low output in his 3 previosus seasons. He is like a 30/40mill player, but Chelsea will pay closer to 50 right.

30-40 million in the summer, if Wilson wants the move. If not it would cost more.

Is it just me or are there way more options nowadays compared to say 08/09? So many big hitters who score so much higher than the big(ish) hitters back in the day
