Sterling, Silva and Bernardo benched as Guardiola rotates heavily

Double Gameweek 32 comes to a head on Wednesday evening with three Premier League matches that all kick off at 19:45 BST.

Crystal Palace are the visitors to Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, while Manchester City and Chelsea host Cardiff City and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively.

The headline team news at the Etihad sees Pep Guardiola make seven changes, with Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and David Silva among the players to drop to the bench.

Kyle Walker and Ilkay Gündogan are also among the substitutes, while Nicolas Otamendi drops out of the match-day squad.

Guardiola had previously ruled Sergio Aguero out of tonight’s match, so it is no shock to see Gabriel Jesus leading the line for City.

Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez will flank the Brazilian, while there is a first Premier League start of the season for Phil Foden.

Fernandinho, John Stones and Danilo are also recalled.

Neil Warnock has made only one change, with Harry Arter being replaced in the starting XI by Joe Ralls.

Maurizio Sarri has matched Guardiola in making seven alterations.

Eden Hazard returns to the Chelsea starting XI following his benching at Cardiff on Sunday, while there is a full Premier League debut for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Gonzalo Higuain makes way for Olivier Giroud, while Emerson Palmieri replaces the injured Marcos Alonso.

N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andreas Christensen are recalled as Willian, Pedro, Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic and Antonio Rudiger drop out.

Chris Hughton has made four changes, the most eye-catching of which sees the fit-again Florin Andone replace Glenn Murray up front.

Solly March, Bruno and Gaetan Bong all start at the expense of Anthony Knockaert, Martin Montoya and Bernardo.

Son Heung-min returns to the Spurs starting XI, replacing Lucas Moura in the Lilywhites’ attack.

Ben Davies is preferred to Davinson Sanchez in Mauricio Pochettino’s only other change.

Roy Hodgson has brought Cheikhou Kouyate, James McArthur and Martin Kelly into his starting XI and benched Scott Dann, Max Meyer and Andros Townsend.

That means Jeffrey Schlupp will move even further upfield on the left of a front three, with Wilfried Zaha switching to the right flank.

Chelsea XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Luiz, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud, Hazard.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Ryan, Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Bong, Bissouma, Stephens, Propper, March, Andone, Jahanbakhsh.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Zinchenko, Stones, Laporte, Danilo, Fernandinho, Foden, De Bruyne, Sane, Mahrez, Jesus.

Cardiff City XI: Etheridge, Peltier, Morrison, Manga, Bennett, Gunnarsson, Ralls, Camarasa, Murphy, Hoilett, Niasse.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Trippier, Sissoko, Eriksen, Rose, Alli, Son, Kane.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Kelly, Van Aanholt, Kouyate, Milivojevic, McArthur, Zaha, Batshuayi, Schlupp.

With the Double GameWeek (or was it) madness coming to an end, I think it’s fair to say that separating the bad scores from the good ones & the good ones from great ones were the differentials you went for. So what were your differentials, how did they perform compared to the other fancied assets.
For me the differentials were Bernardo Silva, Alli, Tomkins and Duffy. Their performance vs the popular picks were hit & miss.

    B. Silva (14) vs Laporte (18) vs Ederson (12) vs D. Silva (3)
Alli (4) vs Son (11) vs Kane (4)
Tomkins (7) vs Schlupp (7) vs AWB (7)

Duffy was a bit of a ‘lack of budget but still high ceiling’ pick. Most people had either Azpi or Luiz or Laporte here.
2 out of my 4 differentials performed decently but didn’t really beat any other popular picks by a huge margin, reflected in my GW points (86) & a rise of 65k odd (considering I was 770k before the GW, this jump is pretty bad).
How did you differentials come through, did they click?
Is the performance of your differential vs the “popular pick” reflective of how your team performed?
Did you have good DGW without any big differentials doing well?

meh GW, other than Babel, none of the differential picks worked

Well Babel was a "PROPER DIFFERENTIAL".
How much did you score overall?

81pts, looks fine on paper but resulted in red arrow, so probably not a good score.

Cant expect anything better when you have got only 9pts return for around 41m investment

Yeah 81 wouldn't have been a great score. I got 86 & saw a "small" green arrow. I think a score 95 or above would have gotten you a green arrow in the top 50k.

I got 95 on my FH with Mili (11 pts) my only real positive differential. Annoyingly, I had Camarasa (10) first sub, with Sterling 3, Pogba 4, Bats 4, and Hig 2 all trolling me on the pitch.

Bilva and Laporte were my City picks and they paid off. Aguero C with rivals TCing paid off too as it could have been a massacre last night had he played. I think that was a nice differential in itself. 108 was a good score on FH I reckon

Most people started their team with Aguero & Sterling in their FH draft. I have to say you can pat yourself on the back if you predicted that Sterling wouldn't get a double digit return.

102, decent score but captained sterling over Aguero or Hazard which I regret. Also was annoying that Higuain was benched last night, especially as he was my Jiminez replacement in the FH

      Morning.
Didn't really have any differentials I guess. Still ended up scoring one of my best point tallys all time with 113. Helped me claw back ML lead with a little gap behind the chasers even. Suffice to say I'm very happy with my FH team.

          Luiz Schlupp Laporte
          Son Haz Pogba Sterling

Same score here, although I took a -8 to get there so 105 after deductions.

Got very fortunate my long term cheap bench fodder CHO came good for me! The rest were fairly standard picks I would have thought - Laporte, Hazard, Son, Jiminez, Aguero (TC) doing the bulk of the damage.

One minor complaint, sticking TC on Aguero and him playing less than 60 minutes of the 180.

On the face of it they worked out but will have to take a few hits again though this week because planning to WC in GW34 and BB in 35, so not quite as successful as they look.

      An understatement.
      The problem Sarri has is:
      a) Chelsea want instant success from managers.
      b) Young players are more inconsistent.
      c) His way to play football is a big learning curve for a kid.
      d) Pedro or Willian would have to be sacrificed.
      e) The Knobs who "run" the club are more intent on creating an international brand (signing Yanks) than bringing through the local cream.

Conclusion: An irony they are getting a transfer ban!

In the end I managed 89 points and dropped 700 places. Damage limitation.

I have to pick 2 out of Raz,Kun,Kane.
      Who'd you pick ??

Currently leaning towards Raz & Kun (Son as Spurs attacker)

in all honesty I havent drafted a team yet. raz and kun and son seems like a wise option. kane costs SO MUCH money. its just he has the game against hud and it's very tempting to get him for that one

          Agreed.
          It's cost efficient combo

Yes I think so he is nailed and will start every game also in the race for golden boot and he'll want to get his first goal at the new stadium asap.

Think there will be rotation for Spurs mids considering they face City thrice and have plum home against Huds & Brighton around it. Infact Son was very luck to score a goal it was a huge deflection.

        Really ??
Thank you for information. Raz/Kun has to be compromised then in my team

        1. Karan14

City, HUD, City, BHA, City in 15 days can definitely see a couple of rests for mids in the plum home games.

Same with Eriksen he was lucky to score the goal. A tackle on Kane in the penalty box and ball deflected and fell to him.

Also I need Kane for the TC chip. He's a great option in GW38 against EVE at home.

What are your thoughts on Kun vs Raz?

          1. Amey
            • 5 Years
            5 years, 1 month ago

Kun is always good Against top 6.
So I'm leaning towards him. Bilva instead of Raz to save 4m then
            It's risky though

            1. Karan14
              • 8 Years
              5 years, 1 month ago

Yup I'm also leaning towards Kun considering he'll be having a rest till next midweek and he is good against the Top 6.

The only reason I don't like Sterling is because I know I won't cap him ever over Kun. And my problem with the double up is that they get rested for the same games which is a huge blow considering we spend 24m on them. And missing a game at this time of they year is a problem as we don't have many weeks to make up the points lost.

    B) and C) potentially gives me a playing sub in case any of my 11 don't play.

    Salah, Mane, Siggy, FAnderson
    Vardy, Higuain, Wilson

Hazard's last game for my team this gameweek.

Have had him since GW4 and it's been a bumpy ride but think it worked out well for me long term. And I'm pleased with myself for being patient with a player for 30 gameweeks.

Big decision now to give him the armband or Salah!!

Any tips here? Thinking Pogba & Jim -> Vardy & Tielmans for -4 and bench one defender.

      WC34, 1ft, 0.3itb

      Fab
      Robbo Digne Pereira Luiz
      Salah Mane Hazard Brooks
      Wilson Barnes

      Hamer Pogba Jimenez Doherty

      Boruc
      Pereira VVD Luiz
      Salah Richarlison Maddison Mane
      Wilson Higuain Rondon

      DeGea Anderson Bednarek Doherty

      0.3 ITB & 1 FT

With only BB left would you:-
      A - Boruc > Gunn (plays 33 & DGW35)
B - Boruc > Begovic (looks like he has place back)
C - Play with 10 with faint hope of Boruc playing & have 2 FT'S for next week
