Scoutcast discusses Raul Jimenez, Man City rotation and the ‘template’

After a chastening weekend of football, the Scoutcast is back to reflect on all the key talking points from Gameweek 9.

You can watch it from 20:00 to 21:00 BST on our YouTube channel, or embedded in the article below.

Joe is joined by Fantasy Football Scout deputy editor Neale and special guest Karam, who has appeared on a handful of our videos already this season.

Currently positioned at 144k in the world, Karam has just deployed his Wildcard and will be discussing the make-up of his revamped Fantasy Premier League squad.

The trio above will be looking at the form and fixtures of Raul Jimenez (£7.1m), Manchester City rotation and the so-called ‘FPL template’, among other things.

There is also a differential for Joe to put forward, clean sheets, the community’s questions and a look at the Scoutcast crew’s Gameweek 10 plans.

With no-shows and auto-subs being the order of the weekend, we can expect the usual mix of sob stories and tales of jam in Rough with the Smooth.

Keeping Kun, DSilva & Otamendi for the next 2. They all go out in GW12 and gonna move ahead with just KDB!

Bernardo has a higher ceiling, but David more nailed, thoughts?

Dilva for me, I'm not sure Bilva does have much of a higher ceiling ... the hat-trick was a major anomaly really. Besides, Dilva has more double figure scores than anyone this season.

Currently have Ota, Sterling and Dilva. Worth a hit to get rid of Ota to free up the 3rd City spot for KDB? Would be Ota and Son to pretty much any defender and KDB.

Which is better for the next few weeks?

    A) Aubamayang, Cantwell to De Bruyne, Ings/Maupay -4

    B) Salah, Cantwell to De Bruyne, Maddison -4

    C) Go without De Bruyne & stick with Aubamayang & Salah

Personally, think its a waste of a transfer as clean sheets unpredictable and Villa could get as many as Burnley.

It makes sense to do it now with Villa's fixtures turning but I think if you're going to do that then you should be looking to stick with Pope for the long haul, FTs are to precious to waste on sub-5 mil GKs.

Oh my that is exciting! I'm no stranger to hits, i started playing more conservatively, didn't work, took hits, didn't work, but the more i play aggresively the more they seem to pay off, it's how i've always played so no idea why i changed at the start. I could even do a -12 myself, just waiting for all game to finish tomorrow night.

Wow! But exactly, i remeber taking close to 100 points in hits a couple seasons ago and finished top 30k, and all i did all season was have fun with it.
I'm going back to having fun 😉

yup, sometimes playing too conseratively can just see you gradually drop and drop. I've gone from 9k after GW2 to 415k now so time to shake things up and play much more aggresively. Would rather have tried than regret not doing it and just plod along in mediocrity until the blanks and doubles come around!

Totally! Aggressive the way to go 🙂
I am now floating on the outer echolons of 2.7m! Really no choice but to have fun now and hope that turns into improvements as i care less lol. Would certainly rather try than plod along like ya say.

Silly having 3 City Mids. What happens when they all blank? Say Aguero scores in a 1-0 City win & your 3 Mids get you 2 points each.

How is that any different from having 3 non-City mids and them all blanking?

If you have 3 Mids from different teams you reduce the chance of having blanks as you have 3 different games. You're relying too much on City winning & players not being rested. I wouldn't have anymore than two.
          Just my opinion.

you have a point mate tbf but you're making far too much out of it...City have two prime home fixtures so I'm playing the percentages...will get rid of one afterwards though most likely

The game is about getting the most points though, not avoiding blanks. If you feel they individually have the highest points potential then that's all that matters.

I understand where you're coming from, but if I owned them I wouldn't really worry about when the points arrive as long as they do. If your scenario happened, but they all scored double digits the next week for instance you'd still be better off.

Bench is a bit sketchy if Kelly does not get a spot back.

Haven't made a transfer for two gws, even with 2FTs in the hopper. I'm at a loss, and the 0.0itb isn't helping. Pukki and Cantwell could be dropped, but not much in the range to really update. Salah > Mane? Sterling out to accommodate Auba?

    TAA, Otamendi, Lowton, Rico, Lundstram
    Salah, Sterling, KDB, Mount, Cantwell
    King, Pukki, Tammy

Hate to leave it open-ended, but I'm open to suggestions.

B is better than A imo, but from what you posted earlier it would take 2 transfers to get there? Also, it's kind of hard to compare C with the other two given there are two mids in that set of players.

yes but no real use for those transfers otherwise

and yes, id be playing 352 instead of 442

Maybe go for it then (B, that is). C looks okay too, but not too sure about bringing Maguire in just now.

I get that, Mount is still a good option after all. The Chelsea game tonight should make things clearer for you hopefully.

          Fairly similar to yours.
Was always on KDB captain and might leave it there with less minutes that Sterling earlier.
          What you thinking on C?

yeah thats the dilemma hey... im currently on Sterling c and KDB vc ... theory is if Sterling doesnt start he will likely not play at all (unless city are chasing) then KDB would be the fallback...

that said with pep it is a big unknown as always

Let Arsenal and pressers play out.
Get the one you'd captain unless it's KDB regardless.

2FT. Worth doing any of these?

    1) Son>Maddison, Pukki>Vardy
    2) Son>Maddison, Cantwell>Hudson-Odoi
    3) Son>Maddison, Pukki>Jimenez, Cantwell>Hudson Odoi [-4]
    4) Any other suggestions?

Do you have funds for Martial?

If not then Son to CHO and Pukki to Vardy

I also think Son to CHO and Pukki to Vardy. Leaves you some cash.

Slightly changes plan for getting to this by 13 with these 3 moves for free over 3 weeks. Good moves or not?
Outfield would be triple pool and Che
    And double City and Lei
Lundstram would sometimes play ahead of Tomori

    Haller Wilson and Kelly
    To
    Vardy J. Ayew Robertson
    Giving

    Pope

    TAA Robertson Tomori Soyuncu

    Sterling KDB Mane CHO

    Vardy Abraham

    McGovern Lundstram J.Ayew Stephens

not convinced haller to vardy is a massive upgrade, especially in short term when former has 2 home games and latter 2 away

prefer wilson to maupay/ings and upgrading kelly from there. ayew is basically a waste of money

Fair point on Ayew might go fodder in that spot and maybe use the cash for a defence upgrade further down the line.
Probably make 2 moves in 12 with 2FTs and and Robertson in for 13 so hopefully I get something from Haller and Wilson before they are gone.
