Doherty makes Spurs debut as Everton hand starts to three summer signings

Following on from Leicester City’s 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, the second Premier League match of the day sees Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton.

Kick-off in north London is at 16:30 BST.

The headline team news is that all five major summer signings from these two clubs are handed their full debuts today.

Matt Doherty (£6.0m) makes his Spurs bow at right-back, with Serge Aurier (£5.5m) relegated to the bench.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£5.0m) also slots straight into central midfield, as expected.

Having not featured for the Lilywhites in pre-season thanks to self-isolation and international duty, Harry Kane (£10.5m) is back to lead the line.

Son Heung-min (£9.0m), Dele Alli (£8.0m) and Lucas Moura (£7.0m) will support the England international in attack.

All of Everton’s three summer signings make their full debuts, with central midfielders Allan (£5.5m) and Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.5m) selected in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI.

James Rodriguez (£7.5m) also makes the cut, despite having started just one league match in the last 11 months.

Son and Doherty are the most-owned players on show here, with both players boasting double-digit ownerships.

Kane was the fourth-most-popular captaincy pick in Gameweek 1, with just over 300,000 FPL managers handing him the armband.

Richarlison (£8.0m), who may well be occupying a wide-midfield role based on Everton’s starting XI, is the only Toffee with an FPL ownership of over 10%.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies, Hojbjerg, Winks, Dele, Lucas, Son, Kane.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne, Allan, Gomes, Doucoure, Rodriguez, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

The only positive thing to take away from that game was at least I kept 1.5 in the bank for Son --> Bruno

the potential brewster loan move is massive.

if it goes ahead its pretty easy to build a team with KdB/Sterling, Salah & Bruno in it (+Werner, TAA).

Where is he likely to go? Apart from WBR I don't see any other team where he might get regular starts.

I wouldn't want to lock in a starter who at best will reach 120-130 points for the season. Brewster would get regular game time, but would be rotated constantly.

Considering this as well. The problem is if Havertz/Pulisic hit form I don't have the funds to get one of them for James. If I have Rashford I will be able to make a straight swap if needed.

They have a mid week EL match.

I think this loss will force Mou's hand to play a strong team and not risk losing the first two of the season. Thus, impacting the early KO next week. Just my theory.

    Hi Guys,

Long time lurker, first time member/poster! My front 6 atm is this:

    Salah - Son - Auba
    Mitro - Martial - Werner

I already kneejerked ings > martial last night. After that showing from Spurs, is a -4 hit to worth it to ditch Son now? Im thinking:

    A) Son > James -4
    B) Son > Havertz (wait until tomorrow) -4
    C) Keep for another week

    Cheers!

Son was more involved in first half playing left of 3 behind Kane. When they went behind and Jose started tinkering, he eventually put Son central and he barely had any involvement in the game from then on.

I am tempted as sometimes when its time to use your wildcard (around xmas time) you tend to have a settled team. When you use wildcard it tends to throw your team in disarray and Xmas fixtures. This is the only time i have ever considered using it in 2nd week in FPL in the 40 years of playing this game. I have looked at my league rivals and like me dont have city/ utd coveage. This could be a good time to gain a early avantage on rivals as i cant remember when my wildcard worked well. Also this weekend has meant we have looked at how teams set up. Thats my tuppence and i am now off for my bed bath.
