Pro Pundits - Darren

Why I’m lining up for FPL Gameweek 3 without any Chelsea players

A Fantasy Premier League veteran of 11 years, Darren Wiles has an incredible track record with three top 1k finishes in the last four seasons.

With so many favourable match-ups in Gameweek 3, I am feeling confident about the next round of Fantasy Premier League.

It has been a positive start thus far, anyway, with 80 and 90-point hauls in the first two Gameweeks taking me to a total of 170 and an overall rank of 29k.

The goals have been flying in so far and I have been lucky enough to capitalise on the early glut of double-digit returns. But all of that is in the past, and it’s what happens this weekend that matters now.

Here is what my team looks like for Gameweek 3 and the reasons behind some key decisions.

Is anyone else rotating 4.5 goalkeepers? I don't like having .5 on the bench. Last year I could do Ryan/Button so that if Ryan was injured, I had his backup. But unless I do WBA, that option is not available. I see most people are picking Steer, but he appears on borrowed time as the backup.

      McCarthy & Forster are 4.5/4.0

Interesting. So Forster is ahead of Gunn?

Seems that way with rumours that he is going to Leeds

Forster has been on the bench for the first 2 games

Imo Forester is a way better keeper. Wouldn’t be surprised if we had a 4.0 keeper down the line. Good call.

Hi guys. Fairly new to the site. Would appreciate your thoughts.

    Have this at the moment:

    Martinez. Steer
    Saiss TAA Justin Lamptey Mitchell
    Zaha KDB Salah Rodriguez Foden
    Calvert-Lewin Mitrovic Jiminez

But I’m a bit worried about not having Son. I could get him in for Zara but would have to find 2m - prob by downgrading TAA. Worth it or should I stick. Appreciate any thoughts.

Is this a wildcard? I would do Zaha to a 4.5 midfielder and then Rodriguez to Son. Rodriguez is great, but I think TAA is better.

This is a wildcard. (I wish I had this team from the outset). I have 0.1 in the bank so Som price rise can be absorbed.

I'd downgrade TAA > Robbo and then drop Foden or Nitro for bench fodder to raise the rest of the funds.

I can downgrade Zaha to a 4.5 and swap Foden for Son without touching TAA so may do that...

    On a WC, A or B lads?

    Martinez
    TAA, James, Saiss
    Saleh, KDB, Zaha, Podence
    Werner, Mitro, DCL

    Steer, Justin, Mitchell, Anguissa

    A) Keep with 1.4 ITB
    B) Justin -> 4.0 & Zaha -> Son with 0 ITB

Similar issue to me above. I’d prob worry about having 2 x 4m defenders on the bench as may need to shift them out soon if neither are playing in a few weeks

Would you sell Mane on WC for Salah? It feels wrong to sell him after his 16 pointer haul and his ownership is only 10%

    A- TAA + Martinez
    B- Robbo + Guaita

    For 3 next fixtures

    1- Sterling
    2- Salah
    Need help 🙁

    Jimi/Jrod/TAA
    or
    Mitro/Salah/Digne

I fancy Salah to get decent points but not sure if it outweighs having Jimi with fixtures/pens and TAA for obvious reason. A also gives me .9 to upgrade fodder

    Thoughts appreciates

Salah also allows more movement for players in the midfield e.g if I wanted Fernandes

    I’m playing a 352

Should I get Vinagre + Podence
    Or
    Siass/Coady + Soucek

Had the first two but logic told me option B is safer long term by way to starts.

    Martinez
    TAA | Saïss | James
    Salah | KDB | Son | Podence
    Jiménez | Ings | Wood

    Forster | Mitchell | Dunne | Burke

Thoughts on this active WC...? (Currently have Bamford at 5.6, Zaha at 7.0 and Castagne 5.5 as WC placeholders who I am trading out).

Aight I give up on using logic in this Werner/Son dilemma. Going with Werner. Have had far, far too many bad memories of watching my in form Spurs assets unable to break down a poor team at home. Probably going to be punished but meh....

There is no logic, could go one way or the other, son probably won’t repeat last weeks feat and Werner is due a goal or two and has an amazing fixture
