Jesus and Laporte ‘not fully fit’ for Man City’s Southampton trip

Gabriel Jesus (£9.2m) and Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m) have been left out of the Manchester City squad to face Southampton in Gameweek 14.

The club released an official statement with their Saturday team-sheet which explained the two players were “not fully fit” for the trip to St Mary’s Stadium.

“Sergio Aguero is amongst the substitutes for Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Southampton, but Gabriel Jesus and Aymeric Laporte are not fully fit and have been left out of the matchday squad.” – Manchester City press release

Sergio Aguero (£10.3m) is still only ready enough for a place on the bench so it looks to be either Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) and Ferran Torres (£6.9m) occupying the centre-forward role from the start this afternoon.

Bernardo Silva (£7.4m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) complete the front-four, with Riyad Mahrez (£8.4m) left on the bench for the second successive Premier League match.

John Stones (£4.8m) earns his place back, starting alongside Ruben Dias (£5.6m) at centre-back, with João Cancelo (£5.5m) starting for the fourth match in a row, Kyle Walker (£6.2m) at right-back.

Southampton are in their traditional 4-2-2-2 shape, Danny Ings (£ and Che Adams (£ leading the line with Theo Walcott (£ and Moussa Djenepo (£ providing the width.

Southampton XI: A McCarthy; Bertrand, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Walker-Peters; Djenepo, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Walcott; Ings, Adams.

Manchester City XI: Ederson; Cancelo, Stones, Dias, Walker; Rodrigo, Gündogan; Torres, De Bruyne, B Silva; Sterling.

At this stage it basically doesn't matter when he hits the 10-15 points and whether you get them or not. He's almost 2m more than his price justifies across the season. Bring him in for easy fixtures or save the transfers and completely ignore him. He's no longer relevent to fpl

Yes. Top 2 priorities for City this summer transfer window are to get in top class replacements for Fernandinho and Aguero.

Jesus and Rodri not good enough. If you compare prime Fernandinho to prime Rodri, then Fernandinho wins. And therein lies the problem for Man City.

        A) Meslier+Vestergaard/Bednarek

Was watching the scout cast thing the other day with Sam, Joe and some other guy.
Sam was saying about how good Son is and cheap compared to KDB, the other guy tried to counter by saying "City have the ability to score like 4/5/6 goals a game".
That logic is so flawed and backward, City have been total garbage this season, how many games this season have they actually had score lines like that? Why do people form opinions on past seasons and ignore whats right in front of their noses.

The writing is on the wall in BIG RED letters if people look for it

PS. Im not syaing KDB, Sterling or whatever are bad picks, my issue is with logic like that.

That's where you're wrong. After Spurs go 1 goal up, Mou forces them to sit back and take a 1-0 win.

City and Pep don't do that, they are constantly looking for goals no matter the score line.

City have a much higher ceiling than Spurs, always have and still do

It depends on Spurs opposition, they wont always play like that, and Jose will realise by now its not the best idea as we have conceded too often playing that game.
There will be games where Spurs score 3-5, probably this Leciester game is a candidate.
And even if they did play that boring strat, if Son ticks along with pretty much a goal every game or every other game he will still no doubt be far better off then KDB

City are garbage this season imo, so much so I think its Pep throwing toys out the pram as he wants Messi.

KDB is normally a staple in my team season after season, but barely even considered him this season, I would take Bruno before him.

The other guy was Ted - Tedtalksfpl. I agree with you for the most part. His charts & analysis could be better breakdown tools, but I'm sceptical of the historical timeframe windows (manipulation of the data) v future or even current performance.

Sam also ported Firminho as a form player for December (she has done previously). He seems to be doing the business - good call so far

          1. have you seen cyan
            • 4 Years

Im probably a hypocrit as I base captain picks largely on history, but that said, they still have to have form for me to consider them.
Bobby is a strange one, my mate from Pool also told me before the Spurs game that Bobby will score.

So imo history can and is relevant in some instances, but equally you have to take into account current form.
City have left alot to be desired this season, they are always risks due to Pep rouletette as it is, but when you take into account bad form and cost as wel,l then its hard to justify them at all.

My take is, historical events can be of value if the constants remain the same. The more variables, the greater risk

I liked what Ted brought to the table tbh. It's raw, but I see potential for the above

Players in the 60s: Back fracture, no worries, Ill play on for the team.
Players in 2020: Owie my tooth hurts, I'll stay home today.

Modern footballers are a pathetic breed of "people"

It's not football anymore. Back in my day the game was totally different.

You are on here posting during the game. We are on here posting during the game. In what way can you conclude that we have less of a life than yourself. Your kind of negative, inflammatory posts are the biggest indicator of a sad person whos losing at life.

There were probably loads of minor injuries that kept players out in the 60s, but we never heard about them because they were so benign. Pele missed the first 2 games of the 1958 World Cup.
