Five-time top 1k finisher on Double Gameweek players, captaincy and chip strategy

One of the world’s best FPL managers, Tom Freeman, reveals his team plans for Double Gameweek 24 and beyond.

Gameweek 23 has drawn to a close and it went pretty well for me, as I ended on a total of 76 points.

However, with the fixtures coming thick and fast, focus has already turned to the forthcoming doubles. We’ll find out more once this week’s FA Cup fifth-round ties are complete, but for now, we at least know who will play twice in Gameweeks 24 and 25.

With all of my chips still intact, it’s going to be pretty exciting, but I’m also fully aware that it’s a pivotal stage of the season which I need to get right.

So, in this my latest column, I’m going to note down some thoughts on the teams involved in this week’s Double Gameweek and also outline my plans moving forward.

For context, here is how I’m currently set up, with two free transfers:

    Nice post by Tom here.

I agree that the DGW in 25 causes lots of problems for those planning to WC25, BB26. It just doesn't work because to get a strong GW25, you have to include Leeds players who have just a SGW in GW26. It's give and take.

Yep, so many factors in play as it should be. A balance and judgement and not template tactics.

I was also thinking how we may normally get twists and turns, but elapsed time allows people to process it sequentially.

      Buckle up for the ride!

Assuming Soton gets DGW, then Dallas, Raph out for -4 for doublers and keep Bamford in BB team

Just Bamford and Raphinha and take them both out the following week

For Grealish and Watkins would be my plan as they are playing Leicester in 25

You can sell Leeds players for a hit and keep Bamford only.

Alternatively BB now in GW 24

Cheers Camzy, and yeah, I’m still undecided.

If my bench was stronger I’d prob use it this week, but Johnstone, Soucek, Robertson and Adams feels a bit uninspiring.

In hindsight my question was fairly ambiguous and is obviously dependant on personnel.

I guess it’s about trying to figure out if a hit is likely to generate more than 4 points and whether they’re a medium-long term option.

Now I’m just writing down my thoughts.....la la la la laaaaa

    Pope, (4m)
    Dallas, Stones, TAA, (Justin, Mitchel)
    Bruno, Salah, Gundo, Foden, Soucek
    Antonio, Kane (Bamford)

    0 FT. 2.4m ITB

    i) Benching Bamford the correction decison?
ii) I'm really lost with as to what to do with chips. I've BB and WC left. Thinking WC25, BB26.

I would try to ride the next few DGWs without using your WC - if you use FTs to get 8-9 players for BGW29 then it's unlikely you'll want many of them for the run in. Save the WC for 30.

I'm in a similar situation - BB and WC left. I'm going to use my FTs to build for a BB26, and try to make the most of Burnley/Leeds doubles where I can.

Depends on what the DGW looks like in 26. If I can field a decent side for the DGW I will save my WC and either TC or BB. If I end up WC in GW 25 I will probably plan for a BB in 26.
