With just seven days to go until the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season kicks off, now seems like a good time to share my latest draft.
And it is very much a draft, and one which is evolving on a daily basis right now!
However, I don’t envisage too much changing between now and next week’s deadline, providing Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Romelu Lukaku don’t turn up at Manchester City and Chelsea that is.

Agree, at least one playing sub is handy. Like both players tbh, but all things equal A for me.
You can get a decent 4.5, Everton should be Defence First starting off, so similar clean sheets in theory plus assists.
Imo over the whole season Diaz might still outscore Digne, but it'll be a lot closer this year.
A. Decent fixtures, more attacking threat and gives you a playing 4.5 on the bench.

I have Son and Sancho as well. Even if he doesn't start he'll come off the bench and then subsequently start every match thereafter so I'm not wasting a transfer getting him in later when I can get him now.

Complete speculation though without any sort of solid reasoning to back it up. There are lots of possibilities but the fact remains that Mahrez is the only fully fit Man City midfielder, has been in brilliant pre season form and was clear first choice on right towards end of last season. Pep has also said KDB will be out for a "while" which could mean anything really.

I was on that for a while, but I've chickened out and gone back to Bruno. Together with Salah, you can only viably have one of Son or Mahrez (unless you lose TAA and go super-weak at the back). I'm veering towards the nailed-onness of Son but I'm still considering Mahrez.
Good thing with Bruno, anytime it can be downgraded to bring in Kane/Lukaku**. But Mahrez preseason form is too good, easily get some points

Is it smart to have a Schmeichel/Pickford + Sanchez rotation at GK? Thoughts on Cancelo? What about Mason Mount or Mason Greenwood?
It’s not smart really, all have decent fixtures and the CS’s will be less easy to call than you think so just to commit to one and save the coin
Cancelo good option just have a bench player ready who you’re happy to come in when he’s benched from time to time and decide if you’re happy to have a 6m defender who won’t always play
Mount - steady option, will get points through the season consistently
Greenwood - potentially explosive but not certain to play every game, wouldn’t want to stack him with cancelo or to many players with minute doubts

I like Pickford a lot, after his Euros I think his confidence will be through the roof which wasn't the case last year. So I may go with him because I have this weird bad feeling about Brighton that they're going to become this years Sheffield Utd.
I have Doherty as my backup for Cancelo with Digne and TAA, Mount (eyeing Jota/Greenwood) Buendia Salah and Mahrez with Gibbs-White as my 4.5 midfielder. Still figuring out my strikers but currently its Ings, Toney and Antonio.

I am considering a really fluid team rotation wise but a few notable omissions not a tactic I have used in the past, please somebody talk me out of it, I like trying somthing new but this may be a step too far ( I was one who fell for the WC week 1 fad last year and never really recovered ) Current draft:

Just too much money on the bench to start. Focus on your starting 11 and attack the good fixtures from the get go. Most likely most will be wildcarding within the first 6-7 GWs so you can stock up on City later on when they have better fixtures and are more settled.

Good news for Chilwell owners if he plays. Remember him playing a lot of switch passes to the LW back post last season.
Not sure why he wasn’t utilised more last year (other than injury) most suited player in the team for that position
Assuming Mount and Lukaku would be reasonably locked in a front three that would leave a lot of players fighting for one place (Ziyech, Pulisic, CHO, Werner and Havertz)
