Kane missing for Spurs as Guardiola starts Grealish and Mahrez

The most-anticipated Premier League fixture of the weekend sees reigning champions Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur, as Nuno Espirito Santo begins his reign as manager. (We’ll be following the match live and discussing key points in a live YouTube watchalong).

For the home team, Harry Kane (£12.5m) misses out completely with Son Heung-min (£10.0m) set to lead the line in his absence.

The South Korean international has impressed during pre-season and has an excellent record against Man City. In fact, he has only scored more goals in all competitions against Southampton.

Japhet Tanganga (£4.5m) starts at right-back, a role he was trialled in during last weekends friendly win against Arsenal, alongside Davinson Sanchez (£4.5m), Eric Dier (£4.5m) and Sergio Reguilón (£5.0m).

Dele Alli (£6.5m) features from the off, too, with new arrivals Bryan Gil (£6.0m) and Cristian Romero (£5.0m) both having to settle for a place on the bench.

As for Manchester City, new signing Jack Grealish (£8.0m), owned by 24.4% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, starts for the visitors in north London, with Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Ferran Torres (£8.0m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) completing the forward line.

Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m), meanwhile, is on the bench with John Stones (£5.5m) and Kyle Walker (£5.5m), while Phil Foden (£8.0m) misses out with a foot injury as expected.

Kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at 16.30 BST.

    Last 5 seasons, City have always ended the season outscoring their xG. Going to catch up vs. Norwich?

      Noooooo! Barnes looked sharp in Shield and Ings is fit and on form. Pogba wont get 4 assists every week. If you want Rich, fair enough but not enough GWs to suggest that those you'd t/f out won't score more in GW2 than those you will be taking a hit for.

        Surely is more important to get the right player than to make 0.1 or 0.2 profit.
        Value is important but its not the maim goal in the game & with so many kindly priced defs there is always way to manoeuvre.

      Because so much of this is guesswork and attempting to find value from sometimes meaningless friendlies. Couple that with players who were quarantined or getting back to full fitness. Then there’s the jumping on new form players and unexpected successes and seeing what players might be marginalised like Nacho. You also have to navigate both Pep roulette and his lies (KDB playing) and seeing how the likes of Mahrez and Grealish play and adapt. Plus there’s always the new options we didn’t know exist like Dennis. Blah blah blah it can go on forever.

            You can do whatever you like, take -12 if that's what you after but I thought that here as a community we should encourage ourselves to make right & sensible decisions and in my opinion moving players in & out after just 1 game rather hasty and potentially costly down the line.

    Team started off the season pretty nicely. 1.0 ITB.

    TAA / Shaw / Tsimikas
    Salah / Fernandes / Barnes / Benrahma
    Ings / Antonio / Toney

    Steele // Coufal / White / Brownhill

    No immediate changes needed, but Barnes a question mark...
    - Even with Norwich, not sure on City attack in part due to following fixtures (well, Arsenal...)
    - Barnes > Grealish possible (he had some shots in the box, Norwich let up a few), but not sold.
    - Other alternative being Greenwood/Pogba, or a downgrade(?)
    - Reason I didn't start wit Greenwood over Barnes is not sure on his longevity starting. Hold firm on that?
    - Holding a transfer certainly possible.

    Happy with 89. Just a shame I went Gundo and not Sarr, Jota, or Greenwood all of whom were considered as third mids.

    However big news is my daughter hitting 86 with a 3-5-2 Bruno(c) team. Pukki & Toney up front, heavy def & mid. Took her 10 mins in the bar Thursday night in holiday last week!

    When these players all become available in 1-2 weeks time, its hard to think Pogba keeps his position in LW, he'll almost definitely start but in the CDM position he's not worth getting

    Plan is to use my jota spot to target Norwich, so
    Gw2 - jota to grealish
    Gw3 - grealish to barnes
    Gw4 - barnes to pepe
    Etc

    What do you reckon? Norwich look bad enough to follow through on that plan?

    Are people genuinely ditching Mahrez BEFORE Norwich and trying to already predict who Pep is going to start / bench?

    The way I see it is, if you didn’t own any City assets at all, which one would you feel most comfortable bringing in?

    It’s an easy hold , everyone is as nailed as each other in the City attack at this stage

          2ft's more useful, if Son scores next week imagine the scenes as everyone wants him in for Watford but can't do it without taking a hit/sacrificing Bruno or Salah.

    I had Benrahma in my side until the very last minute. Switched him to Buendia. Muppet.
    Tempted to bring him in now, what you reckon, bring him in for:
    A) Barnes
    B) Buendia
    Or just stick with those two?
    Worry is he'll rise tonight and turn it screws the whole team trying to get him in later if he carries on scoring.
