Kane missing for Spurs as Guardiola starts Grealish and Mahrez

The most-anticipated Premier League fixture of the weekend sees reigning champions Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur, as Nuno Espirito Santo begins his reign as manager. (We’ll be following the match live and discussing key points in a live YouTube watchalong).

For the home team, Harry Kane (£12.5m) misses out completely with Son Heung-min (£10.0m) set to lead the line in his absence.

The South Korean international has impressed during pre-season and has an excellent record against Man City. In fact, he has only scored more goals in all competitions against Southampton.

Japhet Tanganga (£4.5m) starts at right-back, a role he was trialled in during last weekends friendly win against Arsenal, alongside Davinson Sanchez (£4.5m), Eric Dier (£4.5m) and Sergio Reguilón (£5.0m).

Dele Alli (£6.5m) features from the off, too, with new arrivals Bryan Gil (£6.0m) and Cristian Romero (£5.0m) both having to settle for a place on the bench.

As for Manchester City, new signing Jack Grealish (£8.0m), owned by 24.4% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, starts for the visitors in north London, with Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Ferran Torres (£8.0m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) completing the forward line.

Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m), meanwhile, is on the bench with John Stones (£5.5m) and Kyle Walker (£5.5m), while Phil Foden (£8.0m) misses out with a foot injury as expected.

Kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at 16.30 BST.

And Firmino starts vs Chelsea imo. Still torn between keeping him or selling for Pogba. But that Che match is the issue. I can probably reverse selling Jota for Pog after gw3, but if I keep him and he blanks and Pog hauls, the loss is bigger.

          Jota starts vs Burnley
          Firmino starts vs Chelsea

Reckon Jota starts in the easier games, which is ideal for fpl.
In actual fact I think they’ll both start sometimes.

Greenwood will start up top again imo. Not really at risk until Cavani back and fully fit, but may get subbed for Martial from time to time.

Folks with Gundo, who is your replacement if he's confirmed injured?

Im currently considering Greenwood, Raph, Bailey, Buendia and Dele. I do think home fixtures should be targeted a lot in the first few weeks so a Villa or Leeds player is strongly in my consideration

Guy in my ML has 14/15 players the same as Andy LTFPL.
The difference is he has Scarlett to Andy’s Perica.

He must watch his vids til the end on deadline and copy surely!

You can defo tell which players are plugged into the FPL community, but straight up copying someone else's team - where's the fun in that?

To be hones there's so much FPL content out there these days, and combining that with GW1 start, there's so much overlap between teams anyway. If he has copying, why do 14 instead of 15? Probably just a co-incidence.

Most of us have the same players from a pool of 25 or so come GW1. Hopefully some variance comes as the season goes on.

Andy was saying tonight that he's very seriously considering taking a hit this week ... Gundo & Mahrez out and Raph & Son in.

If he does, check if the guy in your ML also makes the exact same moves and then I guess you'll know for sure.

91 points would normally be a great start, but I'm just annoyed at my punt on Havertz.

I had Jota/Greenwood/Son in that spot during the weak but ended on Havertz, sigh!

I'm happy, but rather be happier!

The plan was to leave 1.5m ITB and go Havertz to Mahrez and then Mahrez to Son for GW3. Given how today went I might just skip Mahrez vs Norwich and go straight to Son

Decided that with KDB back and considering the injury concerns, I have to get rid of Gundo.

SOU looks like a prime fixtures next week for United. I’m considering Pogba or Greenwood, possibly even more sold on Greenwood now. I’m just not sure where Pogba will be playing in the upcoming weeks.

I also think that Benrahma looks like a great pick, however, as I’ve said, I believe that it is worth targeting SOU next week. I will probably get Benrahma in place of Raph or Barnes in the following weeks.

Thoughts on Pogba vs Greenwood decision?

With Pogba performing like this he gets every minute. Same price, both have risks, but Pogba has higher ceiling and is pretty likely to improve TV. Since I have no idea which is better, having that 0.1 itb allows perhaps me to be more patient elsewhere later.

Got Gundo here and will have to make the same decision if he's confirmed out. If must Greenwood. Why do you want to get rid of Raph or Barnes? What's your plan originally with both, only one game's gone it's not enough info.

Im in the same situation and Id pick Greenwood over Pogba and wouldnt think twice about it.

However, I already have Benrahma, I think if you dont have him you should bring him in first. Put a lot of weight on home games for the first few GWs imo. If a team won away this week, thats a testament to how good they are

Same boat, I will probably do Gundo to Pogba tonight before first price rise.

It feels bad to take a city player out for Norwich at home but I think Pogba is more nailed and than Gundo or Greenwood and he is kind of a streaky player.

Obviously early days, but spurs look so much more of a team without Kane. The main man isn't there and everybody shares the responsibilities instead of trying to find and play everything through Kane. Honestly... Alli, Lucas, Son, Reguilion ... these guys im definitely getting on my watchlist.

Alli is very cheap now given how good he can be. But I guess that’s for a reason.

I love chasing price risers! What’s the best way to upgrade Toney into Antonio ?

    Sanchez (Gunn)
    TAA Tsimi Shaw (Dier Livamento)
    Salah Bruno Mahrez Benrahma Greenwood
    Ings Toney (Scarlett)

May sound strange getting rid of Mahrez ahead of Norwich, but following Citys performance today, I don't think anyone that started is a safe pick to start GW2 bar Dias. Have 1.0 ITB; what do you think of transferring in either Son vs Pogba & why?

Unless injury I would not make transfer with the potential of NOR at home

Really can’t decide between Pogba and Greenwood. Screaming at me to go Pogba as I feel he’s going to go on a run of form but will he get dropped deeper?

Is greenwood likely to share minutes with cavani?

It’s highly likely and if Cavani is brought on then Greenwood will move outwide poss

Having same dilemma to shop havertz or jota for pogba.. But worried its chasing points. Also concerned about no city for next week

      thinking exactly the same -

if greenwood stays in team it could affect pogba position

Well, at least Greenwood won't play CM/ CDM

      1. Danstoke82

But any sane manager would surely play Pogba in the exact same role as Saturday given his performance, why would you change it unless he wasn’t affecting much during the game?

Because Pogba can do so many things and also play a deeper role very well. Probably depends on formation

I think even when he plays deeper he can still return if his head is in the right place. I know it’s only one game and maybe he’s playing like he is to get a move.

Jota to Pogba done. Not at all happy with that transfer tbh. Firmino scored and was in form, he could easily start next one and vs Che. Pogba I don't trust, but he is the only likely double riser and if he does well next week, his price will get even higher. Most have TAA, Salah and Tsimikas, so people can't buy Jota before Chelsea a lit imo. I hate this. Like playing poker with hand that is not the best.

Crazy days when 91 doesn't even break 1M. Too bad I w@nked the deadline or would have had Tsimikas instead of White. But still, could deffo been worse. Not really regretting any of my picks yet, either, except maybe the punt on Deeney didn't quite work out.

I'm on 91 aswell. The difference between 1m and 100k is 15 points or so.

Just really a departure from most GW1s in recent memory. Lots of goals. Lovely for the casuals, both on FPL and TV.

Eh, quite honestly not fussed about Deeney. He won't start most of my games, either, but there's literally nothing in that bracket. Just have to be wary of price drops, otherwise he can always be shifted to a 4.5 bench filler if I need to upgrade another position.

No Benrahma here or any differential picks and 97 pts. Everyone whose team is close to template got pretty similar pts. First gw of the season.

Casuals are no longer casuals. Finding FFS with Google isn't enough to secure top 10k OR any longer.

Can I get by this week rolling a transfer?
    Scored 88 this week

    Sanchez
    Trent Shaw Tsimi Coufal
    Salah Bruno Barnes Buendia
    Wilson Ings
    Foster Harrison* White Deeney

Wouldn't mind starting Harrison this week
Yes there are some good fixtures on paper for the likes of City but scores could easily be shared across the team
