Scoutcast: FPL managers face a mixed set of Double Gameweeks

Joe, Seb and Andy help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Double Gameweek 31 and beyond.

With relegation-threatened Burnley and Everton playing twice over the next week, FPL managers are bracing themselves for arguably the worst Double Gameweek they have faced in recent memory.

Our Scoutcast trio consider the long-term prospects of loading up on the likes of Clarets striker Wout Weghorst (£6.4m) and Toffees defender Mason Holgate (£4.2m).

They look at the best options and wonder whether Burnley’s statistically best asset Dwight McNeil (£5.6m) will really interest many FPL managers.

Meanwhile, there are far better Double Gameweeks on the horizon, featuring assets with significant points potential. The crew delve into the possible permutations ahead, with a close eye on when the likes of Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo (£6.9m) will play twice in a Gameweek.

Joe unleashes a flurry of statistics for those looking to deploy a chip in Double Gameweek 33, which looks to be among several pivotal Gameweeks ahead.

Elsewhere, Seb makes Andy “laugh like a teenager”, with his startling comments on City star Phil Foden (£7.8m).

There is the community team’s latest travails to consider, Gameweek 30’s poor scores to rake over and crucially the Scoutcasters’ captaincy and transfer plans for the weekend to reveal.

With Liverpool’s injured defender Trent Alexander Arnold (£8.4m) set to miss a Gameweek or two, could risk-takers prosper by removing him until he returns? Joe, Seb and Andy ponder this classic dullard-versus-maverick decision, which could make or break FPL managers’ season.

This latest show, which was streamed live on the evening of Tuesday 29 March is once again slightly different, with Andy and his Yeovil internet kindly taking on hosting duties while Joe updates his tech.

There’s also time for some quick-fire questions at the end of his mammoth episode to help FPL managers recover from the international break and return to team tweaking and captain calls.

Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to get notified of future live episodes. It is also available as a podcast.

Maybe depends on your rank, robbo is still a differential where as cancelo is basically 100% owned each week

Probably Cancelo. Stronger fixtures for the run-in. Cheaper. Season keeper.

1ft and 1.0itb. FH, WC and BB still remaining.

    Ramsdale*
    TAA* Robbo Cancelo Doherty
    Salah Foden Raphinha Kulusevski
    Weghorst Adams

    Foster; JWP, Livramento, Jimenez*

    A. If Ramsdale is out -> Pope
    B. TAA -> James
    C. Jimenez -> DCL/Richarlison (punt before WC)

Currently thinking A if Ramsdale is definitely out this gameweek.

    TAA Rudiger Doherty
    Saka Coutinho Raphinha Son
    Lacazette Broja Kane

    Dubravka Barnes Saiss Kilman

    1FT, 1.7itb

Best option, bit of a mess but hoping for some help from you guys:

    1. Coutinho Son Saiss >> Salah Brownhill (or Gordon) Cancelo (-8)
    2. Coutinho Son >> Salah Kulusevski (-4) [play Saiss over TAA if out]
    3. Coutinho Son TAA >> Salah Kulusevski Robertson (-8)

    33BB

    Salah Saka Maddy Kulu Fraser
    Adams Kane Weghorst

    36
    Ramsdale
    Robbo Matip Cancelo White

You can't plan 36 yet really. The BB in 33 looks okay but I don't like that team if you don't have a WC in 34. Schar, KWP, Fraser, Adams, Weghorst all pretty useless after 33.

        Thanks for showing up:)
In 34 and 35 I will buy Coutinho Watkins and Matip. We talked about the Villa double in 35 probably. If... Chelsea lose to Real and have a 34,35 Double I might buy James back instead of Watkins.
        In 37 its FH time.
Just wondering... there is time until 33 obviously... is KWP DGW worth it more than a single game of James vs Arsenal?

        1. Camzy
          • Fantasy Football Scout Member
          • 14 Years

Yeah I'd definitely take KWP with a DGW over James for 33. But you have no WC so just buy and keep James.

It's important to keep your core players in tact if you have no WC instead of chasing DGW punts that are good for one week then are subpar.

I'm planning a bunch of FanTeam squads that have no chips left and the approach is quite different. I'm buying City attackers now for instance and ignoring GW33 doublers for the most part except for Arsenal players and Leicester filler where I can fit them in.

                  True.

                  Regarding 31
                  Im starting the WC with:

                  Pope
                  James Robbo Cancelo White
                  Salah Saka Kulu
                  Adams Kane Weghorst

                  Dubravka Maddy Schar Fraser

Pope - Dubravka could easily have no more doubles after GW34 or 35. Otherwise it's not bad. Would still go Broja over Adams just for the money saved which you'll need for Chelsea and City mids.

36 Ramsdale comes in for Pope.

Regarding Broja... are we even sure he is still nailed?
Heard Chelsea and Saints cant agree a fee on his transfer. So the latter can decided they dont need to play him. He wasnt in form before the Internationals too .

Lateriser pointed out in his key stats article that they have the best xGC in the league this year after City and Liverpool. If they’re going to be forward-thinking, I doubt it will away at a Spurs team that’s come into attacking form and is notoriously lethal on the counter. I’m happy to have Kane and Son this week, but no way I’d captain either

    Ramsdale Dubravka
    Gabriel Saiss TAA Robbo Doherty
    Salah Coutinho Raphi Ramsey Saka
    Kane Broja Jimenez

I'm looking to get James and/or Cancelo like many (cash via Jimi downgrade), but some difficult calls ahead.

Saiss to one of them seems fine, but which spot to use for the other?
    A) Gabriel - doubles 33 (not a great one), solid but awkwardly priced option
    B) TAA - Injured possibly, but costs two transfers over the next 3-4gw
    C) Doherty - cheapest, hardest to make it work as a result
    D) Forget it. You can only get one.

I think Robbo, Cancelo, R James + Ars def and Doherty for example could be enough. The way this season is going, I am considering not to plan too much ahead. Robbo has looked better than TAA lately and also scored more. So I am not certain that TAA is absolutely needed back for Robbo owners. Also, all it takes is two injuries and -4 could be needed anyway. If one of Son, Salah or Kane for example gets injured or loses form, money is there.

    Ramsdale Foster

    What's better?

yeah doing both is an option, but it seems not worth a hit when I can get the other for free by waiting a week. What do you think?

Pat Nevin - considered one of the most intelligent ex footballers out there

Has said he believes Kieran Tierney could win the Balon D'or

    I've heard it all now.

Great team but Chelsea players at huge risk of rotation due to all the comps they are still in, if choosing, you need a strong bench…

TAA - Doherty - Tierney- Rüdiger - Cash
Salah- Raphinha - Saka - Bernardo
    Kane

    A) get rid of Dennis to Weghorst (sub someone)

no chips left so trying to plan a bit ahead. I currently own Kane and Robertson.

Thoughts on jimenez + TAA to Ronaldo and a 4.4 defender? Would get TAA back later in season.

Of 4.4s who do you prefer:
    Burn
    Schar
    Roberts
