Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a two-match ban?

Our Suspension Tightrope article takes a look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players who are nearing a two-match ban for the accumulation of 10 yellow cards.

There are currently no players suspended in the English top flight, with Raul Jimenez (£7.5m) serving the second match of a two-game ban on Friday – but the Mexican and Wolverhampton Wanderers now blank in Gameweek 33 anyway.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A PLAYER GETS 10 YELLOW CARDS?

Dennis sent off as Watford collapse in FPL Double Gameweek 23 opener 2

Any Fantasy asset who collects 10 cautions in the Premier League before their team has completed 32 fixtures will serve a two-match ban in the same competition.

Punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

PLAYERS ON 8/9 YELLOW CARDS

Gameweek 32 was a big weekend on the suspension front as many FPL assets are now free of the threat of a two-match ban.

In fact, there are now only five players who are at risk of suspension.

Two of them are on Burnley’s books. Semi-popular bench fodder option Josh Brownhill (£4.3m) will need to get through the Clarets’ next two matches without a booking to avoid being slapped with a two-game ban, while James Tarkowski (£4.9m) only needs to dodge two cautions in as many matches to avoid the same fate.

Tyrone Mings (£5.0m), Scott McTominay (£5.4m) and Yves Bissouma (£4.4m) are also on the precipice, although McTominay is currently injured anyway.

The likes of Conor Gallagher (£6.1m) and Matthew Cash (£5.3m), plus everyone bar Tarkowski on eight yellow cards, can no longer be banned for two matches as a result of yellow card accumulation.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

For Bissouma, Tarkowski, Brownhill and McTominay, the cut-off point is Gameweek 33.

Mings will be in the clear after Gameweek 34:

TeamMatches played32nd league fixture
 AVL31GW34
BHA31GW33 (first fixture of the double)
MUN31GW33 (first fixture of the double)
BUR30GW33 (second fixture of the double)

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget on our home page over the coming weeks, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

Difficult to say. There are a number of schools of thought such as:

      1) Go all in on a handful of teams that do not play each other on the basis that if you get it 'right' you fly (i.e. maximum variance / high-risk high-reward)
      2) Pick all the popular players for the GW based on ownership / transfers in, even if they are playing against each other (i.e., follow the crowd / safety in numbers)
      3) Pick only DGW players and the highest point scorers for each of those teams (assuming they aren't injured / suspended) to maximise potential fixtures

Advice appreciated chaps, little lost after a bad week. 2 FT, 1M ITB, only BB left which am saving for DGW36.

    Pope*
    Robertson, Cancelo, James, White*
    Salah, Havertz, Kulusevski, Saka*
    Kane, Broja*

    (Foster, Doherty**, Ramsey**, Watkins**)

Thinking Salah & Ramsey -> Son & Maddison.

    Cheers..

Cheers - I think I'll move him on in GW34, probably to Matip. Trying to avoid taking a hit this week as it will mean I have to bench one of the valuable defenders (or Broja) which could backfire.

I have just done Salah + defender to Son and Schär. Maddison has done well for me since I got him and if you’re looking for someone to keep, even if he is rotated, they have more games left than anyone.

Cheers. I think I'll hold off on Schar as I'd need to take him out for DGW36 and that would mean another hit. I'm already looking at a -4 with the below transfers in 34/35/36:

        Doherty -> Matip*
        Watkins -> Pukki*
        Foster -> Schmeichel*
        Broja -> Cucho*

        (BB in 36)

    Is Denis/Weghorst to Wood/ASM worth a -4 (WC in hand for GW35)?

    Ramsdale Dubravka
    Alexander-Arnold Robertson Doherty White Kilman
    Salah Son Saka Raphinha Eriksen
    Kane Weghorst Broja

2FT, 0.7 in the bank. Doherty, Kilman and Raphinha are unavailable.

I've been sitting around 50k mark for some time now and feel like I need to act fast in order to make up ground against top 10k.
Which differentials would you suggest me to get?

    1. Arteta
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 16 days ago

I'm open to the idea of -8 or -12 and bench boosting, as I can see Liverpool clean sheet. I think I'd rather save free hit for later and I'm not sure if buying United assets will pay off this time.

    2. WhatWouldYourZlatanSay
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 16 days ago

Given how strong the core of your team is, I don’t think it is about differentials - you can climb simply by having more good players in your team. It seems obvious, but Raph> Maddy is a start.

      1. Arteta
        • 8 Years
        2 years, 16 days ago

That's true. Well, Raphinha to Maddison is almost penciled in and I really hoped there will be nailed Leicester defender by now. I thought about selling Weghorst or Broja for ASM/Wood, because Newcastle are stronger than the other two teams right now.

  8. WhatWouldYourZlatanSay

    Ramsdale*
    TAA-Cancelo-Schär*
    Son-Saka*-Maddison*-Bowen
    Kane-Broja*-Weghorst*

    (Sanchez, Doherty, Ramsey, Cucu)

    2.7 itb 0FT.

This is how I’m currently lined up, planning to WC34. Happy to take a hit but which…

    1. Bowen > Sancho or Jota/Diaz
    2. Ramsey > Barnes/ Mbuemo/Eriksen
    3. Weghorst > Toney/ Laca etc

Obviously there are loads of possibilities but I definitely feel like one hit is merited, just can’t decide. Already wasted time on the Son transfer so eager to get it done.

    All thoughts appreciated.

    Cheers guys.

I’m on the fence about a hit to replace a DGW player, even one with risky minutes. So, for me, 3 is out (also Laca is trash).

I wouldn’t go near 1 either. Bowen is still the best option at WHU and the other two are risky/play for a terrible team (lol).

That leaves 2. It could pay off, has lower risk, but equally Leicester minutes will be managed so you’re looking at the Brentford options. Is that really worth a hit

Not sure why you would need to take a hit for those to be honest

Thanks for the responses. WHU looked exhausted this weekend and can see them going all out against Lyon, which makes me worried about Bowen.

Would it be worth upgrading Cucu or Doherty and playing 433? Given I’m going to WC next week, it could be literally any defender.

Am aware that the Suspension Tightrope image in the sidebar looks a bit wonky on desktop (seems fine on mobile) - had to use a custom image rather than the widget due to players/teams having played a different number of fixtures and it's misaligned for some reason. Will see if I can get Mat to fix but at worst it's just a bit of an eyesore for the next two weeks.

Dislike chasing doubles and prefer form/ fixtures - current team should be ok or would you switch out Doherty for Schar?

    Foster, Mateta, Cucho, Doherty

No. It would have different a couple of months ago, but he looks tired, and that will be a tense “let’s just get the job done” kinda game imo. He could do well, of course, but the only SGWers I have in my current draft are Son, Kane, and Cancelo

Think I've decided on moving Weghorst to Toney. Good fixture this week, going to free hit out next week, then has ManUtd, Soton, Everton and Leeds to finish off the season.

Question is who to move Doherty to. Thinking Laporte is best? My other defenders are currently TAA, Cancelo, James and Burn. It'll lock me out of other City as I have KDB but with 2 FHs left I'll use that to at least double-up on their attack twice, and with Kane and Son and my defence I realistically can't afford another City attacker anyway in the next while. Might have to find a way to get Salah back in for GW36 though so I am thinking possibly of leaving the Doherty move.

Europe doesn't really help you. They'll probably go out away to PSV this week anyway.

    Better combination out of these...?

    A) Dewsberry Hall, Son, Matip -8 (Keep Salah)
    B) Havertz, Son, Robertson -4 (Sell Salah)
    C) Havertz, Salah, Laporte for free (Keep Salah, no Son)
    D) Jota, Salah, Gabriel -4 (Keep Salah, no Son)

I have Kane, Kulu, Doherty, TAA.

    Cheers.

I've got both Doherty and Tierney. Tierney to be sold this week.

Do I go straight to Cancelo, who I sold a few weeks ago, or do I go Leicester/another doubler this week and Cancelo next?

Not much in the way of options for Leicester defence. You're probably better going with Cancelo (who you should never have sold to begin with! lol)

Any reason I've missed no one is putting Ronaldo in their FH teams ?

Last gameweek bias. I think Bruno is the better option, though and I wouldn't double up with those 2 as it uses up too much money.

On the other hand, is their DGW really a DGW? Liverpool away and all...

thanks yeh. Kinda feel like the Liverpool game could be their cup final to let some frustration out. In my team it's currently:

        Laporte + Ronaldo
        Cancello + Lacazette

What OR Would you have been happy with at the start of the season at this stage and what is your actual OR now?..... I would have been happy with being in the top 100,000 and my OR now is just outside 22,000
