FPL Gameweek 34 Scout Picks: City and Chelsea triple-ups as United are ignored

We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 34 ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

We line up in a 4-3-3 formation and are limited to £83.5m for our first XI.

Our four substitutes, meanwhile, are always picked from the budget/cheaper crop of players, not to serve as bench fodder but to give some alternative options who don’t cost as much as some of the names in our line-up.

GOALKEEPER

The best FPL goalkeepers for a Double Gameweek 26 Free Hit 7

Burnley have given us a mixed bag when it comes to Double Gameweek returns this season but they signed off on a high on Thursday, winning to nil against Southampton. Fabled or not, the ‘new manager bounce’ has seen the Clarets pick up four points from a possible six in the post-Dychean era and there was a spring in their step against the Saints. Sunday’s opponents Wolves will be without Daniel Podence (£5.5m), arguably their only form player in attack and a quiet creative force in 2021/22. They were abject without him in Gameweek 32, indeed, so Nick Pope (£5.4m) will fancy his chances of successive shut-outs on Sunday.

DEFENDERS

→ How many FPL points did Aymeric Laporte register across Manchester City's three Double Gameweeks?

After weeks of Fabian Schar (£4.4m)-types making an appearance at the rear, we’re back to a reassuringly premium feel in defence.

    This crazy?

16 ahead in ML and don't want to lose Son Kane or Salah.

    Ramsdale/Rudi/Barnes➡️Foster/Alonso/Mount - 8

    Means I can keep Saka/
    Salah/Son/Kulu/Kane

You found the way to keep and buy the players you want. Moves make sense too. Just press the trigger now.

So much value in getting long term players in early even if for a hit. Wise decisions imo.

    FH good to go?

    Dubravka
    TAA, Cancelo, Laporte
    Salah, Sterling, Mount, Havertz, Jota
    Pukki

    Steele, Davies, 4.5, 4.5

Nice touch with Jota there. Could be the differential needed.

Thanks. Also forgot to list James as my fourth defender there.

It really comes down to Werner/Veltman or James/Pukki. I’m pretty set on the rest of the team.

Probably but don’t expect much from him if he does. I’m a Saints fan and we look like we are on the beach and Broja seems to be wandering more to the wing than as a central striker at the moment

    On a WC:
    Schmeichel
    TAA, Robbo, Cancelo, Laporte, James
    Salah, Havertz (c), Mount (v)
    Pukki, Nketiah
    Foster ; Coutinho, Watkins, Gordon

Would you start Coutinho ahead of anyone?

RP as no replies, appreciate any input, thinking roll the FT to give room for moves next week, so much uncertainty at the moment over who starts

GTG? team looking pretty bad this week, but can't see any obvious moves 1FT 0.0 ITB

    DDG
    Robertson / Cancelo / Schar
    Salah(c) / Son / Saka / Maddison / Martinelli
    Kane / Broja

    Pope / Gabriel / Davies / Dennis

I'd get rid of one of Kane or Son to fund a Chelsea mid and a hit for a Chelsea defender.

cheers, yeah i see the logic in that but want to keep them both until end of season, think it's a bit of a risk with chelsea being out of sorts and potential rotation , especially when kane/son could brace in any game - i'd like mount/havertz if there was an easy way

Only 1 FH left. 2 frees this week. Which lineup looks better?

    Guita
    James, TAA, Cancelo, Laporte, Schar
Salah, Foden, Saka, Havertz (would you go Mount here instead?)
    Kane

    OR

    Guita

    Salah, Foden, Saka, Mount
    Kane + Mateta

Yea sterling and Salah ideal combo but obviously you can't do that or you'd go with it. Mane not guaranteed to start either but likely so I guess you need to decide if you're happy risking going Salah'less. Mane is on decent enough form to be fair. Is it free hit or wild card? Or just a change?

    Repost as no response.

    Start 2:

    Currently on Toney and Saka.

      Tough call…maybe Saka & Maddison.

Both Spurs and Arsenal have a bit of momentum going and have a lot on the line, so Toney seems somewhat riskier (despite Brentford’s recent Eriksen-inspired form)

Probably. Was going to this week but not keen on losing Ronaldo and Kane/Son just yet. And, the more I look at it the less I want to make sacrifices for a BB in 36. Honestly, a bit all over the place on when to BB.

Gotta use the chips eventually. If I was in your shoes I would WC this week, BB36 and FH 37. Who knows what state Ronaldo will be in after losing his baby. And just keep one of Kane/Son (I would keep Son personally).

Robbo > VVD + Broja > Greenword (no BB chip left) + Kulu > Mount?

    Lineup would be:

Haven't found a route to do it without a hit after the price rises yesterday unless I dropped Foden for one of Havertz or Mount and then went Broja to Nketiah. I could bank a transfer and just drop Foden to Mount for the week and have 2 frees again next week?

          • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Wouldn't necessarily want to lose Foden either. But that seems better plan than the -4

I don't really want to lose Foden either, but the only way for me to get Mount or Havertz in this week without a hit will require it unless I went off of Saka (which I also really don't want to do). Dropping Kulu on a hit to keep Foden and get one of Mount/Havertz in is very appealing for the long term

            Another option for a -4:
            Robbo > Laporte + Broja > Rodriguez + Kulu > Havertz

Keeps Foden in the squad and can drop Havertz to Mount after if desired while having double City in defense with clean sheet and attacking threats.

Think James only starts one. Very injury probe and will be protected.

    Choose:

    1) Werner+Saka
    2) Havertz + Nketiah

BB36..not so sure werner or havertz for less rotation

Will be honest that for BB36 #1 is undeniably safer with Saka over Nkertiah, but #2 is what I may end up with.

Hi all, can anyone tell me whether Amartey is likely to start for Leicester?

I have no idea but their defence is such a minefield I'd avoid if possible. But he is very cheap...

He probably starts this week, but he's going to get rotated moving forward for sure with Evans and Soyuncu back. Unfortunately doesn't seem like anyone in that back line is nailed to start every game.

Thanks both. To be honest, for the price a few starts til the end of the season would be fine. Just really want him for BB 36

He'll play once in GW36. For 4.0m that's not awful.

That's not a fact, though, is it?

    Final decision on WC:

    A Alonso, Watkins
    B Dennis, Robertson

Don't think it matters that much. Flip a coin.

B, marginally. Mid - Ramsey has slightly more scoring potential. Forward - depend on whether you want DGW in 36 or 37? Dennis slightly more assured of minutes, Mateta slightly gentler fixtures.

Remove Maddison or Saka for Mount?

      Neither. Other options?

Only way I can get Mount is by removing one if those.

Think it has to be Maddison, although I expect him to do well this week

Not really, just predicting his minutes from now on will be a nightmare, and he's bound to miss plenty. I've sold him this week myself to get Havertz, but still expect Maddison to do well at home against a struggling Villa side. Saka possibly has a tougher fixture but is pretty nailed and Arsenal have plenty to play for

Maddi just for the heartaches down the road when you see him on the bench.
