FPL

Which FPL players are on free-kicks, corners and penalties in 2022/23?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is live for 2022/23 and so too is our table of players on free-kicks, corners and penalties at their respective clubs.

The players are listed in order of prominence at dead-ball situations, based on information gathered from last season’s matches. Data closer to Gameweek 38 is given more weight.

The list will be updated constantly as new information becomes available on assigned set-piece takers and we’ll have one eye on pre-season to see if there is a shake-up in the table below or if any new signings like Erling Haaland are muscling their way in on the dead-ball duties.

Nottingham Forest are a good example: Joe Lolley and Brennan Johnson are listed as direct free-kick takers but it was loanees Joe Garner and Philip Zinckernagel who were chiefly responsible for these in the Championship last season and they have now departed the club.

This is a list that is also supplied to the FPL site, where you’ll find explanatory notes on the penalty takers featured here.

Ultimately, it comes down to Kane/Son vs Haaland for me.

I can't ignore that first home match against Southampton. Juicy.

Forget the names, for me it's just a question of structure. Two premium mids or premium mid & fwd.

Not many good midfield options this year i fear. Most of the great options from midfield are now overpriced and some evn switched to forwards. This might be the year of 5-3-2.

i don't agree there is a ton of midfielders that i'd want, Salah, Son, KDB, Bowen, Diaz, Saka, Maddison,Zaha, Coutinho, Trossard, ASM, with maybe's for Bruno, Rash and a few others that i'm sure i'll own at one stage or another lol

Yes, but Cancelo at 7.0 million got over 200 pts and Saka about 180. Which one are you going to choose?

well they're different positions, Cancelo is a set and forget for 200pts, Saka i'd buy or sell depending on fixtures and form and potentially get a lot more than 200pts

8.0M mid should outscore Cancelo coz you will swap depending on fixtures(Saka,Diaz,Maddison,Mount etc) and Cancelo is season keeper.

    A) Mendy + Perisic
    B) Ederson + Doherty

Have Cancelo and James. Expect City to keep more clean sheets than Chelsea but not sure about using a City slot on Ederson.

Not much use if it's Barcelona!
Current situation is Chelsea have the money, but he doesn't want to go there. Could stay at Leeds and run down his contract. If so, I'd worry if his priority is the World Cup, will he hold back 10% if his heart isn't in Leeds any more?
I'm waiting for Eriksen to see if he comes in at 7.0m.

Royal is there and Spence looks likely to join so not sure how viable Doherty is unfortunately. If he was nailed it's an easy choice I think. Tierney can be great but injury prone and when Martinelli plays he seems to attack a fair bit less, until we see how things look I'd be tempted to go with Gabriel or Tomiyasu instead.

For those going with a 4.5 GK who are you going with? I'm on Henderson right now but not too confident, considering Sanchez but a little unsure of how they'll manage with no Bissouma and possibly Cucurella. I may move to a 5m, have .5itb on current draft but don't fancy Pereira, Dasilva and 4.5FWD on my bench so might move one mid to Elanga if he looks like he'll get time.

    Diaz or Kulu?

Seen a lot people convinced Richarlison joining means Kulu will get less starts but I’m not so sure.
Son on the left and Kulu on the right means they converge and cut inwards onto their stronger foot.

Richarlison is right footed and more of a CF, so can see him coming on more for Kane to give him a rest here and there after 70 mins for e.g.

    1. Scratch
      • 14 Years

They've hardly spent £60m on a player they plan on benching more often than not. Richarlisson would also surely have been given some assurances given he'll be pushing for a place in the Brazil squad for Qatar.
Also, Conte seems to sub Son off in the majority of games. But Kulu is definitely the man in danger there, Rich usually played RWF when DCL was through the middle.

The way I see it, the potential upside to converting a 4.5 to a James/Chilwell far outweighs spending that extra in any other position

    2. Hotdogs for Tea
      • 8 Years

you have to play 3 defenders so you will be benching one of Ramsey or Johnson (maybe rotate them ? is Rashford nailed ?) but/so I would take Ramsey down to 4.5 and upgrade one of the defenders.

New, Brentford & Arsenal defenders rotate well if starting 2 from 3 so I would certainly pick from those clubs

    3. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
      • 14 Years

There are plenty of attacking defenders if you want to go the cheaper route. Cash, Trippier Perisic. just below the top price range.

I decided to go the best/worst of both worlds and looked at
5-2-3 formation going light in midfield which allowed me a backline of - James-VVD-Cash-Perisic-Tomiyasu
      and attack of- Jesus-Haaland-Kane

The midfield had to have two 4.5m players though with a 5.5 and Salah.

      --
My first draft before that was a balanced 4-3-3 with the likes of Trippier and Wilson included.
      --
Don't be afraid to fo your own way is what I am trying to say, or even a mixture of your two favourite drafts.

Actually really like my first proper draft but I hate how template it looks.

Seems that with this pricing, the vast majority of teams will have TAA, Salah, Haaland/Kane, Diaz, James/Chilwell, City def with not too much budget remaining for meaningful differences elsewhere.

Or that makes more sense actually

Huge ‘fear of missing out’ seems to be driving Salah & Neto picks and dragging me in … can see Wolves struggling this season too.

Could have Diaz & Mount or Mahrez or Foden or Kulu or Grealish or Madds etc instead of Salah & Neto or simply spend 5.5 on a defender and drop Neto down to a benched 4.5 mid

    Decisions decisions

Need to keep a close eye on City's preseason to see how they are lining up. With the 5 subs it makes Mahrez and Foden more likely to get constant minutes, Whether it is from the bench or starting.

yes for sure, a steady flow of minutes … at the moment I am on these guys and expect decent minutes from them and willing to take the Foden gamble

        Diaz, KdB, Foden
        Toney, Haaland, Jesus

I rate Neto as a player, but not sure why he is so high in the picks? (GW 1,2 4,5 i guess?)

      He’s only 5.5.
      Good fixtures.

Not a big risk. And if he hits then it’s great.

Don;t get it myself either. A couple of opening blanks and people will immediately be looking to ship him to a cheaper option so they can upgrade elsewhere. Could be a bit of the FFS hive-mind mentality.

I’m struggling with the Spurs assets.

Only two of Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski will get the minutes in any game.
And the cost of all of them is based on them all getting full games.

I can’t spend 8.0 on Kulu or 8.5 on Richa, just an overpay in my mind.
Which leaves Son or Kane, and either of them means sacrificing Salah or Haaland. Or lots of little cuts across the squad.

Easy to make a great squad ignoring Spurs attackers altogether.
Trying to squeeze them in hurts.

    My mini-rant.

I couldn't squeeze Son or Kane in my team either without sacrificing Salah or Haaland, it just doesn't work, and Kulu and Rich are overpriced now that they are big rotation risks.

Ya I might avoid them till GW2 before I see how they actually set up

Yeah the spurs pricing is a bit annoying all round, full backs will be rotated but maybe perisic will be a good pick overall. They still have reguillon and sessengon for now. And can't really pick their CBs with all the other options in the 4.5 - 5 range. Will Doherty play enough, will they sign Spence, Emerson still there?

Hard to have richarlison over the likes of Jesus, even toney. Son is great but 12 deletes the possibility of Salah or Haaland. He should still do very well, though. Kane or Haaland is a choice to ponder, you can have both as well it's kind of possible.

Hey at least Kulu is nailed for GW1 with richarlison ban.

A simpler way of looking at it is... it's Spurs and while some years they can present great value they're just not reliable until you see the form play out. As for Kane, he's in so many teams yet he usually takes a while to get going.

Strongly considering a "5-3-3" myself with 2 bench fodder

            Current draft is a '5-3-3'
seems good to have at least 1 playing on the bench
