Everton v Chelsea team news: Chilwell starts, Cucurella a sub

Everton v Chelsea rounds off a busy day of Premier League football.

Kick-off at Goodison Park is at 17:30 BST.

Chelsea’s line-up is identical to the one that took on Udinese last Friday, with one exception: the Barcelona-bound Marcos Alonso is replaced by Ben Chilwell at left wing-back.

New signing Marc Cucurella is among the substitutes, while Raheem Sterling makes his competitive Blues bow in a front three with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

Everton are also parading two summer recruits in the shape of James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil, who make Frank Lampard’s starting XI.

Dele Alli doesn’t get the nod up top despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Salomon Rondon missing out through injury and suspension, with Anthony Gordon initially starting as the nominal spearhead.

GAMEWEEK 1 LINE-UPS

Everton XI: Pickford, Patterson, Mina, Godfrey, Tarkowski, Mykoleko, Doucoure, Iwobi, Gordon, McNeil, Gray.

Chelsea XI: Mendy, James, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly, Chilwell, Kante, Jorginho, Mount, Havertz, Sterling.

    Was he unlucky or poor?

Look where the goals came from ; Son had a couple sniffs, Kane had one easy chance but Son decided to be greedy.

For some Spurs cover, thoughts on Diaz to Kulu?

I'd want Darwin later and it wouldn't block me from getting him as I am currently on triple Pool

I have Kulu, and the transfer strategy was always to swap him for Foden in GW2 and then Foden to Saka I'm GW3. I tend to play the fixtures.

RWB. Azpi RCB. Doubt he's going to play RCB too much now with Azpi here, Chalobah backup and interest in Fofana.

Pickford is just the man for potentially career ending challenges. Even if it was an Evertonian this time it was Pickford's fault.

With their next 4 games, I think it's time to go triple Arsenal. Have Martinelli and Jesus already.

    Best move?

A - Kulu to Saka (this was my planned transfer for gw2 though could get Foden/Mahrez as well if one of them smashes it tomorrow)

    B - Neco to Saliba

Decided last minute to go Haaland over Kane but if I chose Kane, then barring an injury or suspension to Haaland I would've made the switch for gw2.

That said I also have Kulu and am strongly considering moving him out for one of Saka/Foden/Mahrez next week

    Thoughts on Perisic now?

Conte: "I am really pleased for Sess because we are working very well with him. He is working well and it is very important we sign a player like Ivan Perisic because he can see the way to try to learn something from Ivan."

    1. Rainer
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 9 months ago

Don't need to even think about him till after Chelsea.

Overall, not good for Perisic, very capable back up to allow him rest. 5 subs mean 0 minutes unlikely.

      1. Andy_Social
        • 11 Years

Will be hard to leave Sess out after his performance. Prob job-share 50/50 - which is not good for either in FPL terms. Pundits say he only needs half an hour to haul (Peresic) but I'm not convinced.

They are but no quality up top. Best chance might be a defender's header from a corner.
