Superb analysis of the United game, and why they badly need a player like FDJ:

That doesn’t solve the inability to play out from the back or the lack of a 4-3-3 striker. FDJ is part of much bigger needs.

It does help them play out from the back.

They certainly have other things wrong, but the lack of someone to help progress the ball from deep is one of the biggest issues. Matic used to do this well, and Pogba was better at it than McFred at least, but they've both left, and neither have been replaced.

These players can't even pass properly. First they need to learn is to keep possession. Then work on rest of the things. Everything they try so hit & miss.

I could see from the kick-off that ETH has set out the whole side dependent on that deep-lying playmaker, and it can only be de Jong, not Fred. They ain't getting their target so ETH has some serious re-thinking to do.

Who's nailed in city and Chelsea defenses??

The only one not nailed on at City unless they sign someone is ake the other 3 are nailed on.

You don't want a Chelsea defender believe me unless it's James or Chillwell for there attacking play. Everton without a single striker should have scored at least twice

Lot of sides were a bit rusty GW1. You'd expect Chelsea's defence to tighten up.

      Ederson Dias Cancelo

Although Pep praised Walker in his press conference alot

Not sure however Walker + Ederson however is better than Sanchez/Ward + Cancelo

    Rambo (Ward)
    TAA Robbo Cancelo James (Neco)
    Salah Coutinho Martinelli Bailey (Andreas)
    Jesus Haaland (Archer)

    Main transfer ideas.
    1) Toying with the idea of Couthinho ---> Grealish for the BOU game. Villa looked very poor.
    2) Or saving with the idea of drafting in Mitro in GW3, but that would mean a sacrifice of Coutinho (and really there isnt much in the 4.5-5m area when you already have Bailey and Andreas), or sacrificing Robbo. I dont think Mitro > Robbo though.

At this stage i'll probably do 1) or nothing at all.

    1. FPL_trail_runner
      • 3 Years

We have almost the same team

Agree coutinho is the priority to sell - not many options at that price point

I prob go down to 6/5.5 maybe. But i am myself thinking of a WC

    2. Dumpo
      • 9 Years
      1 year, 9 months ago

I'd personally do nothing. AVL were dreadful but I'd wait another week. There's no guarantee Grealish starts the BOU game.

  5. FPL_trail_runner
    • 3 Years
    1 year, 9 months ago

Im seriously considering a WC despite a very decent 75 point start

I have seen a number of trends worth jumping on early

    1. Darwin to cover Salah points - if he plays = minutes he will get 90% of Salah points
    2. Spurs attacking double up is a must from next week to week 6
    3. Justin as a wingback was at times the most advanced leicester attacker
    4. Arsenal offering excellent defence value with Saliba at 4.5mil
    5. Man city attacking (KDB + Haaland) double up next week then FT KDB to Son
    6. Think Haaland will start alot more games than i thought - i can see his minutes being managed by subs off after 75min - so i think i will keep him season long and not do the Haaland to Kane move in week 3

    7. Team to target at least early doors appear to be Forest, Southampton, Wolves , maybe Villa - City & Liverpool will be excellent against anyone.
Leicester, Bourenmouth and Fulham much better than expected (Arsenal fixtures not as amazing for me now)

    8. Slight feeling Haaland will be a much better option on the road than at home - he loves those runs into space - KDB maybe better option for week 2 captain

Going from this with these an issue*

    Ederson Ward
    Robbo TAA James Doherty* Cancelo
Salah* (yes an issue now with Darwin) Bailey* Neto* Andreas Martinelli
    Jesus, Archer* Haaland

To this very aggressive WC, Week 2 team shown with week 3 BB an option
    Sanchez Ward
    TAA Cancelo James Saliba (Justin)
KDB Martinelli Andreas (Kulusevski, Da Silva)
    Haaland Darwin Mitrovic

KDB to son for week 3 captain

Only risk is moving off Salah for me. - I could be wrong of course on Darwin. The rest i feel

How do you mean humble brag?

Im ranked over 1 million - its more about maybe moving early to switch around funds

just looking if anybody else spotted some of this

And a quick look through twitter shows a few notable fpl managers with top 100 finishs have been thinking the same

    2. lugs

nothing wrong with your current team, you'll want another WC in a few weeks when other great looking options emerge

      1. FPL_trail_runner
        • 3 Years
        1 year, 9 months ago

I think its ok to fine

Doherty Bailey Neto are issues i think with rotation and how poor those teams are

And here is the issue this year

        - it will NEVER be a good week to wildcard since we can all put out a good team every week of top 6 players due to the prices.

    3. Dr. Rog
      • 14 Years
      1 year, 9 months ago

I think you dont have enough information yet to make these judgements.
Especially if you have had a good week then you dont need to do anything too rash.

      1. FPL_trail_runner
        • 3 Years
        1 year, 9 months ago

        Here is the issue though

If not going this week (and say week 3)

        Id lose
City double up home to Bournmouth
Darwin home to Crystal palace - i think he is way better option for this fixture as they will sit deep and the liv fullbacks will put in alot of crosses - Salah will too and play wide

        - Fulham have two excellent fixtures - wolves look in all kinds of a mess, selling one of their best players tonight and not comfortable in a back 4

        - Arsenal defence looking very nice, far better than the money wasted in Doherty

        - All of these + the most likely 0.6 mil price swings means that team is now or never

I had a similar feeling in early 2019-20 and did week 2 wildcard to get Mane (Sold Salah after week 1) , also got Pukki, cantwell , Lundstram , etc

Looks good, you can’t win fpl by playing it safe after all. One thing to note is that although Nunez may “cover” Salah, you need to factor in that EO will crush you whenever Salah scores and you might not necessarily make that back with Nunez points if the crowd trends towards the TAA, Salah, Nunez triplet

      1. FPL_trail_runner

i think in the short term Son will do better than a wide Salah (my instinct if Darwin is on the pitch) who is not the liverpool main target anymore

Currently i may prefer a Son captain away to Forest or Darwin as an equal in week 4 over Salah

Could be wrong of course but Liverpool are not the same team anymore with a CF ( i made a post above this a few weeks back and once he came on yesterday it was clear he cause havoc)

I think you are making too many hasty judgements on LFC. Klopp is not going to completely destabilise a team just to bring a specific player in. There will be a plan that involves everyone being able to perform well with plenty of inter changing.

Ignore Salah at your peril. It will be the Salah and Darwin show this season.

Your team looks fine & you could just lose Doherty for Saliba & play one of Neto or Bailey

However you look like you are set on this so play your own game & go with your gut

    Re Price changes.

There will be a lot of wildcards triggered this week and wildcard transfers don't affect price rises but also can't be filtered out by FPL Stats etc...

I fell in with Pras' 'game theory' in the last hour before deadline after holding out for a few days. Now I get to savour Haaland's points while most of my Kane-owning ML rivals stress over what to do before Bournemouth. Lovely.

Stress? Everyone bought Kane for wk1 with a plan to move to Haaland for wk2 ; assuming Southampton would be pants and West Ham would be … well better than that tripe.

He could have had 20 points yesterday with his normal finishing and squaring the ball to Kane for a tap in

Former Man Utd players turned pundits are totally obsessed with how the players/team aren't as good as when they played. The former 80s Liverpool players who became pundits never really criticised the Liverpool teams of the 90s, and if anything revelled in the fact that they had been better.

Thoughts on a Bowen punt vs. NFO?

If Forest play like they did yesterday, then he should have a lot of joy. Almiron found a lot of good positions in the inside right channel, but was unable to convert.

    What is better?

    A) Kane -> Haaland for free
    B) Luis Diaz -> Kulusevski for free
    C) both transfers for - 4
    D) safe transfer

    Thank you!

    Gabriel to Zinchenko?
Part of me thinks it's a waste of a FT, but obviously not if he's a much better prospect. My minileague is full of people who don't have that 5m defender slot, so a chance to be a bit different

I'm not an arsenal fan but isn't Gabriel arsenal's only completely nailed on defender. So I wouldn't do it, plus side ways moves are a waste at this stage

Hell no. Zinchenko will be heavily rotated when Tierney is match-fit.

No evidence Zinchenko will be rotated. He will be difficult to drop if he maintains this form. I think there is more chance that Tierney comes in at LB and Zinch pushes Xhaka out as the former excels in that position for the internationals.

What are people doing with Perisic? I’m tempted to sell but I don’t see great options at the price point.

73 all out. Saving my transfer and will then evaluate whether to use 2 transfers after next week. Aaronson was unlucky not to get returns.

      Ramsdale

      TAA - Walker - Trippier

      Salah - Martinelli - Aaronson - Bailey

      Jesus - Kane - Haaland
      ------------------------------------------------
      Ward - Dalot - Neco - Pereira

Anybody else pondering Trippier > Zinchenko before the price rise? Trippier was always a short term punt, but ideally would've moved him on in GW3 when they face Man City.

      a) 2 FT's in GW3 but being priced out of Zinchenko.
      b) Trippier > Zinchenko for free.

      A) Trippier to Zinchenko
      B) Mount to Saka/Kulu
      C) Save FT.

      Currently thinking C or B.

If it's like me, then it's because Zinchenko looks likely to rise in price tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah, after GW2 Newcastle have awful fixtures. Obviously would like to wait a week but then I'll be priced out..

It's not worth getting Zinchenko despite the price rise. Just wait and if you want an Arsenal defender GW3 Saliba/Gabriel will still be there. Zinchenko has Xhaka/Tierney to compete with and when EL comes into play you'll likely have another transfer to deal with due to rotation.
