FPL Gameweek 12: Wednesday’s goals, assists, bonus and statistics

The Scoreboard presents all the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) numbers you need from Wednesday’s matches.

As well as LiveFPL‘s rundown of the goals, assists and bonus points from the day’s FPL action, we’re bringing you a selection of the Opta stats that arrive in our Premium Members Area almost immediately after full-time in each fixture.

Our usual Scout Notes article, which summarises more of the main FPL talking points, notable manager quotes and injury news in extra detail, will follow later.

BRIEF ROUND-UP

Amazon missed their expected delivery of goals as six clean sheets were banked across tonight’s fixtures.

Newcastle United were among the sides shutting out the opposition and are now joint-top for clean sheets (five) in 2022/23, as well as first for fewest goals conceded (nine). Kieran Trippier (£5.7m) took maximum bonus to move first in the FPL defenders’ points table, while Miguel Almiron‘s (£5.3m) scarcely believable form continued as he curled in his fifth goal of the season – that’s more than he has managed in any of his previous seasons with Newcastle, and we’re only in mid-October

An obdurate defence is not what a tired-looking Tottenham Hotspur need this weekend, as Harry Kane‘s (£11.5m) blank-less run finally ended at Old Trafford. A slowly improving Manchester United took all three points and since their season kickstarted in Gameweek 3, only Arsenal have registered more points and no-one has kept more clean sheets (four).

Rotation bit hard for Chelsea and Liverpool, with both managers making five changes apiece. The two sides could only muster one goal between them, a Darwin Nunez (£8.8m) header, and were indebted to their goalkeepers for their respective results: Alisson (£5.4m) saved a Jarrod Bowen (£8.2m) penalty, while the impressive Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.4m) was forced into five saves against Brentford.

Both Alisson and David Raya (£4.5m) have now banked back-to-back double-digit hauls.

And on a night of shut-outs, it was fitting that Southampton – the only club in the league who had conceded in every game before tonight – recorded their first clean sheet of the season.

That Salah blank is beautiful after all the ludicrous back in form rhetoric. The rangers hat trick counted for nothing, league one standard defence.

It's certainly nice to have not fallen into it. To be fair he did still have a couple of chances but I'm glad I backed my opinion that not much had changed. Owners may still have the last laugh on Saturday though

For those that don't understand or care about the stat numbers__ It basically means they both played like the astronaut Louis Armstrong, who never played his trumpet on the moon, in the biggest heist on humanity in the history of conjuring State mind control.
      It was a test.
      They both failed.

I've given up on tin foil and have decided on Lead_The "REAL" science supports this.
It's very expensive though and all the Cads have already stolen the lot from my local church roof who have put in alternative renovations.
I'm currently seeking resources from builders and reclaiming businesses who are pulling out old lead pipes from properties ; because it is now known that those pipes cause serious health detriment to the delicate human body long term when your water supply runs through them.
It's not rocket science but all the Super Elites have spent Billions lining their hidey holes with Lead lining.
          That is a known known.

Decided on the majority of my WC team now, main decisions are what forwards to go with. I could keep Kane but I think I prefer to move him out to bring in either Darwin and Firmino (especially if we get early news suggesting both start on Saturday), or Darwin and Toney.

I know Toney has 4ycs so a suspension could come at any time but I think I'm happy to take that chance, I'll likely be moving at least one forward out anyway to bring Kane back either in GW15 or 16. I did feel like Newcastle could be a good game for Spurs but they're picking up form quietly, and even if Spurs get a win, they've had a habit of following up draws/losses with one goal wins (two 1-0s and a 2-1), I think Conte will simply want to prioritise a win at all costs if they take the lead there. I still feel Robertson is a punt as I don't trust Liverpool defensively but Forest are just so poor going forward that I figure I have to try. I'd likely move him out after Leeds in GW14 anyway to facilitate the Kane move which works. Don't love how samey pretty much all WC teams look but I suppose the key here is getting ahead of non-WCers more than anything. Still punting on Antony too so hopefully that's somewhat of a differential.

I've kept him up until this week, I think having Saka and Martinelli (+ Saliba) edges it for me. Martinelli is great value and I've wanted Saka since the ManUtd game. Truth be told Jesus looked good in most of the games leading up to the blank but he's been a bit frustrating

I can get that, I wasn't keen on it myself initially but like I said above, Spurs don't tend to come back from dropping points by hammering teams like a team like City might, and Newcastle are on a nice run right now. Bournemouth is fair, I think they'll try and keep it tight though against Spurs, today was their first loss under O'Neil so they're much improved. I will try to get him in for Liverpool though, although I am a bit worried by their performances in the bigger games this season. Last season Conte seemed to have these games nailed down but they were very lucky against Chelsea to get a late draw, Arsenal beat them fairly comfortably and they had no threat at all tonight

What to do here? 1 FT & 0.5 ITB

    Kepa - Ward
    Canelo - Saliba - Trips - Neco - Doherty
    Son - Sterling - Paqueta - JWP - Andreas
    Firmino - Halaand - Jesus

Thinking Sterling -> Foden? Sterling has done absolutely nothing for me.

        Nah I don't 🙁

Sterling is gone, son I like, Firmino is our best player atm so i see him starting especially with diaz still out, paqueta injury is annoying and yeh jwp out too. Might take a hit to get rid of sterling & JWP

Maybe it was just tonight but Son really didn't look like he had any chances (the only 2 Spurs ones I remember fell to Kane, one of which was offside anyway). But yeh, if no WC, you've definitely got bigger issues anyway.

Do you reckon Klopp is gonna continue starting all 4 of Nunez, Salah and Carvalho with Firmino? Or was just tonight?

Yeh. Son is a bit hit and miss at the moment..

Like I said, I think Firmino is our best player right now. Klopp will keep starting Nunez, but with Diaz & Jota out, and Firminos form anyway, i think he keeps starting in this 4231 setup.

That's my plan. Jesus having 4yc certainly is a factor, Saka has been improving week on week and we're now sure he's on pens, and Martinelli has just been really good value. Jesus has had some great games but just doesn't seem to get the returns he should

Midweek GWs are something special. Based on basic number crunching (2016/2017 being the starting point in this case), they often seem to be low-scoring and/or have unexpected outcomes. Usually not worth several hits or FH (unless it's a "big" BGW).

Most seem to be along the lines of:

      Kepa/4.5 Ward
      Trippier Cancelo ARSdef Neco X
      Salah Saka Foden Pereira Martinelli
      Haaland X X

The 3 Xs being the few spots that seem to be different

Why Kepa? I haven't even considered him on WC. Those fixtures in the next 4 don't look great.

Same with Trippier, I've had him for a while but I don't see why it's worth keeping him on WC for now.

Mid premium price defender that has Spurs & Chelsea in 2 of his next 4 games?

Not really sure tbh, he's had a few good games now in fairness but I agree, don't like the fixtures. I have Raya and am sticking, next 3 fixtures could hardly be better and then I'll suffer playing Ward in GW16 when Brentford face City. I think Trippier should be kept though, nearly 60% ownership and he's been so consistent, think he's still 1st for chances created by defenders, Villa and Southampton in GW14+15 too, hard to pass those games up

        3. Dank Squid

Kepa? Cheap considering he is first choice in a "traditional" top team. I agree about the fixtures, and also feel the defense could be more solid at the moment (Potter rotation/still looking for the optimal setup).

Trippier? tot, CHE, but also AVL, sou, lei.

Blocked a bunch of crosses and created a few chances, mostly from corners. Didn't give the ball away. Hence the bonus points. James Milner put in a goal saving challenge and did well against city so not 100% sure Trent starts the next game. At times tonight it seemed like Liverpool tried to avoid putting him in a position where he needed to run but made some good recovery sprints.

Saka gives you 7 pen takers. Congrats on being able to afford them. My team will have six. All can score regular goals too. I think it's the way to go now.

Thanks for the relief above guys.

Here’s one then before I pull the trigger:

    Trossard + Zaha/Bowen > Saka + Foden

Who would you lose out of Bowen and Zaha?

    Thank you kindly 🙂

Considering Bowen to Saka, Id prefer having Saka and Foden yes, is it for a hit?

Yeah mate if I do Trossard + Bowen > Saka + Foden it will only be a -4

However if I do Trossard + Zaha to the same, then it will have to be a -8 as I’d need to Downgrade Pope > Kepa to create the funds
Can also afford this dead on the money as of now before Kepa rises.

Maybe just do Trossard and Bowen then if you really want them, Bowens fixture is really good though. I think ill just save

Cheers man, yeah it is a tidy fixture for West Ham, I just don’t believe in them at all though, I have to follow my gut on this one and act sooner rather than later with only 4 GW’s left before the break. Bowen is going then.
            Thank you 🙂

I know, but West Ham simply aren’t free scoring, then again is anyone right now apart from City perhaps.
Bournemouth aren’t the whipping boys anymore as well

Probs not for a hit. Zaha could punish you [if it was free, I would]

I stupidly transferred Saka out for Zaha in GW10, so lost out. Want to reverse it but yeah, tough call. Feel like Palace might not get much against Everton

Hi team. I’m on the WC and the strikers are so strong.

    Please help rank these 4:

    1 Darwin
    2 Jesus
    3 Mitrovic
    4 Toney

I think that is how I would rank them. Most would chose Mitro & Toney though.

    Cheers!

Bit of a punty WC draft, but what do you guys think?

    Ward
    Cancelo, White, Dalot
    Salah, Foden, Saka, Martineli
    Nunez, Firmino, Haaland

    Iverson, Andreas, Neco, Bueno

Not sure on triple Pool attack. Get rid of one and upgrade your keeper and defence

Is there any point in investing in defenders though? I don't like any defenders/gk's over the next 4 weeks other than Arsenal & City unless you can find one?

The fact that I've seen people suggest pickford says alot...

I hear ya. Just not sure on Pool triple up (2 maybe enough) and the Leicester goalie duo made me a bit feel a bit queasy. Even Kepa is an upgrade

Liverpool are not the same free flowing team this year, so get Jesus instead of Nunez or Firmino. You don't need Ben White atm. Please choose a proper GK too. Are you inlove with Leicester?

Keep Almiron on wildcard? Might give me a benching headache as a 5th midfielder but I got him at 5.0 and he seems high on confidence. Scored a good goal tonight.
