Scout Squad

The Scout Squad’s best players for FPL Gameweek 25

Ahead of the final Scout Picks selection, our in-house team of Sam, Marc, Tom and Neale each put forward the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) names they think should make the cut.

Our panelists submit 18-man player longlists with the focus just on the upcoming Gameweek – and with various stipulations, as detailed in the next section.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

Our four resident writers are solely focused on the upcoming Gameweek with their selections. Anything outside of this window, we cover in the Watchlist.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, cheaper alternatives have to be found.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

    What are people thinking about with Darwin longer term?

    Logical move this week for me is Mitro to Darwin (also getting Trent, not liking routes to Salah). But suspect i'd want to shift him on to Toney by 27 and with a reasonably tough 26 and risk to minutes from Jota/Firmino coming back i'm not feeling wholly confident on the move.

      Toney, Watkins and Nacho would be replacements for Darwin

        Ha the exact three I'm lining up as a replacement for Darwin. Along with everyone else no doubt!

      I'm getting Darwin in this week as my only Liv asset then shifting him to Toney in 27. Maybe even 26.

        Just wondering if I'm better sticking with Mitro (maybe we'll get an update on him at 1:30) and then going straight to Toney. Means an extra transfer going forward

          Yer, I think a lot will depend on any new information over the next 24 hours. How many do you want to field next week? I'm not worried about conserving FTs as I'm massively chasing, and will be hit-happy between now and the end of the season (e.g. taking a -8 for four moves this week). I do think Darwin has a big upside potential (Jota/Firmino rotation notwithstanding).

          Toney has just dropped in price and Darwin is on the cusp of rising - if that factors into your decision at all.

            This is the thing, I have 8 outfield and will probably get Trent to make 9. Of those 8, I have Bueno and Mitro. Happy with the former of those two - think he'll score something. Logic would be to move another defender on to field 11 and hope Mitro plays, but original thinking was actually just to roll my other FT and then look to bring in Toney for Mitro from 26 as well as having second FT ready for 28 blanks and 29 doubles.

      I'm not getting him but I think based on his workrate, the different attributes he has compared to the other forwards there (height, strength and particularly speed) and him probably being one of the very few Liverpool players that has consistently looked a threat even during their very poor games I think he's a fairly solid choice unless he really needs a rest. The biggest issue I think is that a GW28 fixture may not happen and then the GW29 double is pretty poor (although that being said it's not like either team is impenetrable, I just don't see Liverpool having much of the ball in either game)

        Yeah, I think I can do a pretty nice set-up for the doubles in 27, FH 28 and have quite a volume of doubles in 29 for a BB and saving WC for later. Problem is that I don't see Darwin as fitting into those plans, so its a transfer in and out meaning one less transfer (or a hit) to get someone else

      My current plan is to transfers Darwin out for Toney GW27, but let's see what happens in the cup games first.

    Who can get more pts ?
    A- Mcneil Kane Darwin
    For -8

    B- TAA Mitro Darwin
    For -8

    C- Kane Mitro without hits

      Assuming C involves a blanker (hence only 2 players) and assuming Mitro is out then probably A

      Would probably prefer Darwin and TAA as assets going forward

    Should I take -4 to bring in another defender? not happy with my current back 3 for this week:

    Tark/Lewis/Bueno (Shaw*/Trip*)

    Can't afford Trent or Rob, already got 3 Arsenal in squad, don't really want to double up on Everton.
    Should I just risk playing Lewis?

    1. Biggsy

      I'd risk it. If you're taking another hit later down the line for an impending bench boost or to attack the doubles then unlikely an Everton defender gets enough

      I think the problem (s) is/are this:
      - you have to give up 2 very good defenders whom you may well have to re-sign (at a higher value)
      - if you can't get to TAA/Robbo this week, then there is little or nothing in between the cheap (Tarko) and the expensive (TAA/Robbo) except the Arsenal guys. And you don't want to block up a berth getting an Arsenal defender as you probably already have one (if you have one, well and good, just hold)

      So you are looking at your team and knowing the defence isn't that solid but its actually hard to spend your money on a player that will plug that gap.

      Im in the exact same place. Hence, i have been looking at goalkeeper but not sure there is a solution there either.

        Yeah I'm already set on keeping Shaw/Trip. I have 3 Arsenal attackers, haven't had their defence all season unfortunately but getting by ok in top 50K. It would just be replacing Lewis for someone (like) Coleman, Myko, Cash....All don't really seem worth a hit!

          • 4 Years

          Id play Lewis personally, You are taking a -4 for a defender you probably wont want longer term. You have Tarko.

    Haaland Nketiah Darwin

    Subs: Ward, Patterson Rashford Shaw

    1ft, 0.6 itb.
    KDB -> Salah done.

    A) Shaw -> Tarkowski
    B) Shaw + Kane -> TAA + Darwin -4
    C) Shaw + Trippier -> Tarkowski + Robertson -4
    D) Shaw + Kane + Martinelli -> Robertson + Nunez + Saka -8

    Current team:
    Kepa (Ward)
    White, Tete, Bueno (Shaw, Trippier)
    Salah, Mahrez, Martinelli, Andreas (Rashford)
    Haaland, Kane, Nketiah

    What to do with this?
    1 FT, 2.5 itb
    Kepa
    Gabriel, Tarkowski, Shaw*, Estupinan*, Trippier*
    Saka, Odegaard, Mahrez, Mitoma*, Rashford*
    Haaland, Kane, Wilson*

    Obv gonna keep Rashford and Trippier, would be nice to have Mitoma and Estupinan for gw27 but should i sell now and bring back later?

    How about
    Shaw, Mitoma, Wilson - > Kilman, Gakpo, Watkins

    Or

    Shaw, Mahrez, Wilson ->
    TAA, Gakpo, Watkins

    Or Darwin better option then Gakpo? In that case sell Wilson, Shaw and Estupinan?

    1. Bucket Man

      Wilson, Mahrez, Shaw to Gnoto Mo, doubling defender

      I am not as high on Gakpo as perhaps other with Bobby and Jota vying for a start. I also have Mo fear so i'd cover the asset that could hurt your the most and look forward to make up ground with your double brighton later down the line

    thoughts on either of these for a hit:

    a) trippier and cucu to Kilman and trent
    b) Mahrez and Cucu to JWP and Trent

    Trippier i have value and see a long term hold, but mahrez vs Bou feels like a good fixture (if he plays)

    I could just do cucu/pat to another defender, no hit but i would only have Mo for pool cover this week.

    Ederson
    Cucu Pat Tark White
    Salah Saka Ode Mahrez
    Gnoto Haaland

    Ward Tripps Rash Toney

      Definitely not A. Was terrible vs. Madrid and had a hamstring complaint too.

      Not sure Kilman is worth the transfer with his fixtures & fact we don't know if Wolves will even play GW28 either yet.

        I have got a good squad that has been delivering points and are in form. Why tear it all up just to sign a questionable liverpool defender or a liverpool forward who will be sharing time. The only Pool asset i would like to own is Salah and I cant get to him in one move (like KDB to Salah).

          Look at it this way;

          Ward - no CS
          Saliba - good
          Tark - good option but Clean Sheets unrealistic
          Beuno - no chance of CS
          Mahrez - might not start
          Martinelli - likely to get rotated
          Saka - good
          Kane - tough fixture
          Haaland - not on great form
          Gnonto - unproven

    2 FT 3.4 ITB.

    To get Salah and Saka I would have to play Greenwood as well as Patterson and Ake, Mahrez plus sell Kane for a - 4 (Option C)

    Kepa
    Ake, White, Patterson
    Odegaard, Martinelli, Mahrez
    Haaland, Kane, Greenwood
    Ward, Shaw, Trippier, Bruno, Rashford

    A) Bruno and Shaw to Salah (C) and Tarkowski. Bench Greenwood
    B) Bruno, Shaw and Martinelli to Saka (C), TAA and Gakpo - 4. Bench Greenwood
    C) Bruno, Martinelli, Kane to Saka, Salah, Nunez - 4. Play Greenwood

        Thanks. I have to sell Martinelli over Mahrez as would have 4 Arsenal. I'm slightly reluctant to sell Kane and Greenwood isn't going to get more then 1.

      In option C, you are selling Bruno and Kane. Think about that for a moment.

        Yes. Prefer to keep Kane and think A and B give better overall team. It's tough between A and B though and have to go without one of Saka or Salah in these options

    Who can get more pts ?
    A- Mcneil Kane Darwin
    For -8

    B- TAA Mitro Darwin
    For -8

    C- Kane Mitro without hits

    PS: A or B gaves me 7 double players to play total 10 players

    C: just 5 Doubles with total 9 players

      If Mitro plays I'd go C. But if he isn't A

    If you had Shaw and Schar who would you transfer out for Tark?

    A. Shaw (bought for 4.8M)
    B. Schar (bought for 5M)

    Thanks

      B. More value in Shaw and his attacking threat makes him the slightly better pick for me.

        Sell A then. I think I'm going to free Hit that week anyway so not looked into it too much. Thinking WC27 as team struggling.

    I'll probably regret not getting TAA/Robertson but on the plus side, I won't own TAA/Robertson.

      D and pray Patterson gets minutes. I think a Liverpool overkill could backfire carrying them into gameweek 26

        Already locked in my FH this week. I think I had 6 players as I had triple Newcastle, triple United and a couple of Brighton...

        Trying to use my chips differently this season- gone against the grain and used my BB and TC already. Not been successful I cannot lie. Sitting around 400 to 500k overall

    Silva on Mitro

    "Nothing new apart from Mitro.

    "It will be difficult for him to be ready. Today he was on the pitch, outside. Let's see."

    "It will be difficult. He had a session outside doing specific work."

    Why can’t he just give a clear answer 🙁

    Marco Silva on Mitrovic: “It will be difficult for him to get ready but we have another day until tomorrow. He was on the pitch outside this morning doing some specific work. Tomorrow we are going to make a decision.” Cairney also out injured along with Kebano.

      Yep

      Since I bought him he's either got 2 pointers, been injured or missed penalties.

      Was happy to take the hit to get rid for Watkins

    Which pair scores more?
    a) Darwin & Tark for a (-4)
    b) Robbo & Bueno

    1. Bucket Man

      A. Not sure Bueno plays anyway so Tark would get that back. Rate Pools attack more then defence.

    Kepa, Ward
    Trippier, Ake, White, Tarkowski, Kilman
    Fernandes, Rashford, Mahrez, Odegaard, Mitoma
    Haaland, Kane, Nketiah

    2FT, 1.6 bank

    A) Fernandes & White --> Saka & TAA
    B) Fernandes & Nketiah --> Saka & Darwin

    1. Bucket Man
      • 5 Years

      A. Prefer Darwin to TAA somewhat as Liverpool attack better then defence but TAA does have attacking upside and Nketiah a better pick then White I think.

    Which of the following defences is more likely to keep 1 cs in this gw in your opinion?
    A) Everton (better defense)
    B) Wolves (no Mitro for Fulham)
    C) Man City (easy fixture but no dgw)

      City. I think the odds for CS were posted a day or two ago check back through the article...

      I think it was City with the highest odds of a CS, then Everton, then Wolves
