The best UCL Fantasy players for Matchday 11 2

GOALKEEPERS

Why aren't Man City keeping clean sheets? 3

Manchester City visit Real Madrid in the first of two Matchday 11 games. Although there’s a strange instability with their domestic defending, the English side have proved to be fully capable in Europe. Ederson (€6.0m) has picked up an impressive five clean sheets in eight Champions League games.

Inter face local rivals AC Milan in the other tie. Since their quarter-final success, Inter have racked up four clean sheets from five games in all competitions. This defensive strength could make Andre Onana (€5.0m) a great option.

DEFENDERS

As well as this, Inter also play with a back-three system which allows their wing-backs to advance into some dangerous areas of the pitch. This increases the chances of an attacking return for both Federico Dimarco (€4.6m) and Denzel Dumfries (€5.3m). The former has banked two goals and two assists in his last six outings.

Man City’s possession-based game restricts their opponent’s chance of scoring. John Stones (€5.1m) has recently been used in a central midfield role that puts him closer to goal. Furthermore, the centre-back is a considerable threat from set pieces and has already scored during this current UCL campaign.

Finding Real Madrid defensive coverage could be really important and who better than the reliable Daniel Carvajal (€5.4m). The full-back has picked up six returns in nine matches so far, totalling 51 points thanks to two assists, six clean sheets and 27 ball recoveries.

Former team-mate Theo Hernandez (€5.9m) is part of an AC Milan defence with three clean sheets in their last four UCL matches. Yet the flying full-back offers a huge attacking threat and has registered two assists so far.

MIDFIELDERS

FPL review: De Bruyne haul, Saka penalty + relief for Haaland Triple Captainers

The imperious form of Man City makes coverage necessary. In their last 10 matches in all competitions, they have managed nine wins and a whopping 29 goals – averaging 2.9 per game. The standout midfield option is Kevin De Bruyne (€10.5m). The Belgian has mustered a huge 16 assists and seven goals in this domestic season.

That top form has also translated into Europe, scoring once and creating four others in seven outings. Joining De Bruyne is winger Jack Grealish (€7.9m). He has become an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s starting 11 and has banked seven goal contributions in his last 10 starts.

Not that Real Madrid should be underestimated. Scoring 10 against Liverpool and Chelsea in the previous rounds, they have continued to convince offensively. The main man in midfield is Vinicius Junior (€10.3m) who has picked up a return in all but one of his 10 UCL matches. Fellow Brazilian Rodrygo (€8m) should also be considered, having solidified his position in their front three. Five returns have been accumulated, including two double-digit hauls that highlight his explosiveness.

Meanwhile, Inter’s uptake in form has seen 15 goals in their recent five matches. Finding a way into this offensive line could be key and one route could be via Nicolo Barella (€6.8m). The Italian has produced two consecutive goals and eight-point returns in his latest outings.

FORWARDS

The best UCL Fantasy players for the round of 16 5

With the lack of available options at this point, it’d be difficult to avoid picking any of these front three. Erling Haaland (€11.2m) has netted a monstrous 35 Premier League goals and created seven more but he also collected one of the biggest UCL Fantasy hauls in history when scoring five times against RB Leipzig, accumulating 25 points.

Joining him is the ever-consistent Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema (€10.9m). The 35-year-old continues to hit fantastic levels of output, scoring 17 goals in 21 league matches and 10 goals from 10 in this UCL season. Selecting Inter’s most in-form and most likely to start forward has to be the play, with Lautaro Martinez (€8.5m) delivering four goals and two assists in three matches. The Argentinian also bagged a 12-point haul in his most recent UCL game.

Thanks. I would prefer to have more forwards from Brighton and Newcastle but can't change much now.

Probably best to focus on the DGW after that.

Agreed. I would rather Mac+Mitoma but I don't think it's worth spending transfers to switch them out either.

Theyre still doublers so better than Iversen for example. You’ll be happy to have that transfer for 37

I’m an unlucky March owner so may just do the obvious and get Mac in. Prefer him to Mitoma right now

Who would you prioritise getting in for this GW?

    A) Wilson (lee, BHA)
    B) Mac Allister (ars, new)

    1. SalahFingers
      • 6 Years

Maybe both? but if pushed B cos he has a double the week after and he's their penalty taker. You get 4 games instead of 3 (from Wilson).

    Better option over GW36+37?

    A) TAA (lei) + TAA (AVL)

    B) Mac A -4 points

    1. SalahFingers
      • 6 Years
      1 year, 1 month ago

Not entirely sure what you are asking. I would definitely keep TAA for the last few games if you have him.

MacAllister for -4 is a tough one. Really depends who you are selling to get him in.

      1. Black Knights
        • 12 Years
        1 year, 1 month ago

Well it's either playing TAA or Mac10 as his 11th man for the next two weeks.

TAA could realistically concede in both, so you're then relying on attacking returns and Mac10 has twice as many chances and on pens. I'd go B.

Saving a FT to have 2 for GW37 is the best thing to do here right?

    1.6 ITB 1 FT

    Ederson
    TAA - Trippier - Shaw
Salah - Rashford - Mac Allister - Mitoma
    Haaland - Isak - Wilson

    (Alisson, Stones, *March*, Castagne)

    1. SalahFingers

That's kinda what I'm doing although your team is in better shape than mine.

Yeah you are GTG.. You might appreciate 2 transfers next week.

      1. Salarrivederci
        • 8 Years

Thanks! Pushing for the 10K in OR while defending ML lead.

Will go with 3x City, 3x United, 2x Brighton in GW37, and won't bother to look at Chelsea.

Will have a benching headache since Newcastle and Liverpool have decent fixtures too!

Wilson downgrade and March to Bruno will probably be the best way, but then I'll have to settle for double City defence, and I could worry that no Grealish would punish me 😀

Just be careful. Relegation sides aren't 'decent fixtures' at this point of the season. See what happened in Everton vs Brighton this week. See Leicester, Southampton, Notts Forest all scored a bunch of goals this week.

Newcastle are against Leicester next week and Liverpool against Southampton on last day. It might not be as good as it looks.

Anyway.. I would still go with your plan. It looks good.

Trying to decide whether or not to keep Maddison. Could be a good differential but Leicester are so bad. However is Maddison now on pens? Difficult to know. He missed one against Everton but then Vardy also missed and Maddison then took the 2nd pen yesterday and scored. Maybe he only took it because he was the one fouled.

actually yes. Good spot. Although it's still difficult to tell what it all means going forward as Vardy did take a really poor pen and missed prior to that and Maddison took a good pen and scored from it. It could mean Maddison is now on them.

I wouldn't call Leicester bad in terms of attacking. They've scored 8 goals in the past 4 games. That's fine for attacking points.

Any ideas for this team here? Really tight on cash as have Haaland + Salah + KDB and also TAA and Robbo. Looking to bring in 2 Newcastle and don't mind going for some differentials, and also swapping March. Also don't really want to drop any city players before double.

    Steele
    TAA - Robbo - Dias - Lindelof
    KDB - Salah - Rashford - March - Mitoma
    Haaland

    Iverson - Bueno - Greenwood - Taylor

    2FT - $0.1ITB

Also have a very weak bench.

    Thanks

March to Willock and Bueno to Botman if wanting double Newcastle. If the funds are short then maybe Murphy instead of Willock. Not necessarily great picks, but could fit your team and budget.

Currently debating whether to use a FT or roll. Team below.

    Steele
    Trippier, Shaw, TAA
    Salah, MacA, Rashford, Mitoma, Mahrez
    Haaland, Isak

    Leno, Watkins, White, Andersen

    I could do:

    A. Watkins to Wilson, and bench Mahrez
    B. Leno to DDG or Pope, but that would constrain budget for later FTs
    C. Roll my FT for use in GW37 or GW38

If latter, then go for it. Willock and Ferguson were actually pretty close to scoring a brace this gameweek. I think that Longstaff won't play again this season, so Joe should start the remaining games, and Evan was De Zerbi's first choice before his injury woes.

I’d probably roll the dice on Gakpo.

Grealish a rotation risk, plus I think Everton MIGHT make it a tricky game at home fighting for survival.

Maddison I wouldn’t trust. Leicester look completely devoid of any fight.

Shaw probably next best option. But United have been pretty sloppy at the back and his ceiling is likely 6 points.

      1. SalahFingers
        • 6 Years
        1 year, 1 month ago

Man Utd are not really sloppy. They've conceded 6 goals in the past 9 games. They are also home to the lowest scoring team in the Premiership and they've left in only 8 goals in all 16 home games this season.

Man Utds last 5 home games were all clean sheets.

I definitely would play Shaw here.

Fair enough, their home defensive form is more impressive. But, I maintain Shaw has the lower ceiling.

Leicester just conceded FIVE to an on the beach Fulham.

I’d much rather gamble on Gakpo outscoring Shaw.

Is it worth doing March -> Mac for a -4 if we know that March is fit?
Also would you do Robbo -> Schar -4 (Have no Newcastle defense)?

I wouldn't do either of those things.

Are we forgetting that Brighton are on the beach.
Can we remind you all that Everton___Yes I said Everton just beat them 5-1 on their own beach while they were licking ice creams and taking rainbow coloured unicorn inflatables out in the surf.

    Am I reading this correctly?

      Are you reading what exactly?

Brighton may have lost 5-1 to a relegation fighting side, but they won against Man Utd and 6-0 against wolves the week before.

I will be benching Estu & Mitoma for GW36. I can see further pummeling from ARS & NEW

25 points behind ML leader. Both our teams are similar and fairly template.

His differentials are Ederson, Bruno and Botman to my DDG, Grealish, Watkins and Gabriel. He is also already committed to triple Newcastle with Botman, Trippier and Isak and has the same Brighton trio as me (Estu, Mitoma, March). He also has 0.0 in the bank and unable to do March ➡ Mac10 without downgrading somewhere else. He also can't bring in Wilson as his 3rd striker is Greenwood.

    I have 2 FT and 1.6itb.

Is March to Mac10 and Watkins to Wilson(c) the best play here to close the gap?

Yes, I would get Mac10 and Wilson...

At this point, you need something different if you want to catch up and those 2 are potentials. It still may not work, but at least you've given yourself a good chance.

Rival has 1 or 2 FTs? Sounds to me like they might downgrade somewhere to fund a March replacement as there's nowhere to go if already maxed out on NEW. Or do you think they'll just play 442? Wilson could be a strong differential for you but I'd worry that he might not start again til LEI

Rival also has 2FT and could possibly downgrade Shaw to Lindelof/Dalot , Salah to KDB etc. I'm also taking an additional punt in playing DDG and Shaw for double Utd defence and benching Estupinan as he'll likely have Shaw as his 5th choice defender this week.

There's a chance Wilson may not start but he's come off the bench and scored in a few games already this year. Feel that because this could be the only week left where Haaland isn't the standout captain choice I'd need to take a chance now. I think he'll captain Isak for what it's worth.

Everyone has a bench headache this week.

Personally I'd play Grealish over Stones. I don't see a clean sheet against Everton.

    Raya, TAA, Shaw, Greenwood

Ouch to Benching TAA and Shaw

Tough call, but I can't think of a good choice. Maybe make an early transfer for the DGW after. B?

It’s very boring but I’m thinking of doing Grealish, Watkins, Steele > Mac, Isak, Pope -4

    Gives me

    Pope
    Trippier Estu TAA
    Salah Rashford Bruno Mitoma March
    Haaland Isak

    Kepa Shaw White Greenwood

    Kepa
    Trippier Botman Estu Trent
    Olise Foden Mitoma March*
    Kane Haaland

    Iversen Watkins Maddison Pinnock

    A) Watkins > Isak (c) First bench March
    B) Watkins + March > Isak + Macalister (-4) First bench Foden
