Rate My Team surgery with five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman

With Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) nearing, five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman is here to help with your pre-deadline dilemmas for the next hour.

Whether it’s questions on the numerous concerns in defence, differentials, bench order or anything in between, Scout’s Deputy Editor will tackle whatever’s thrown at him.

He’ll be on hand to first reply to requests from Premium Members in the Hot Topic below the line of this piece and will get through as many as he can until the next article goes up. If there’s time, Tom will also turn his attention to other requests in the comments section.

If you’d like to receive an email notification letting you know when future RMT Surgery’s are live, you can now do so. When editing your profile, under ‘Alerts & Notifications‘, you’ll find a section on ‘Email Notifications‘. In there is an option for ‘Rate My Team Surgery‘, check that box and you will receive an email letting you know when the surgery is about to go live.

You can, as ever, chip in with your own opinions on the RMT requests filtering through – and naturally, you’re free to ignore the article subject matter and talk about any other wider FPL topics that you’d normally be musing on.

Don’t forget that, if it’s an algorithmic answer you’re after rather than an opinion-based one, we also have a ‘Rate My Team’ tool available in the Premium Members Area.

    How am I looking?

    Martinez (Turner)
    Chilwell, Estupinan, Cash (Gabriel, Baldock)
Rashford, Saka, Maddison, B Silva (Garnacho)
    Jackson, Watkins, Haaland

Got 1.5 ITB and 2 transfers, looking to get rid of Silva, potentially looking at JWP in a couple of weeks

        Arsenal haha.
Martinez and Watkins are justifiable, not sure how I landed on Cash... budget maybe?

Odegard apparently, I have Saka so no immediate need to change.
Diaz or Sterling could do well in the short term.

Annoying given I was set on selling. I'm seeing most Spurs fans want them to start Lo Celso in any case, so iffy one.

    Johnstone (Turner)
    Chilwell, Estu, Henry (Gabriel, Baldock)
    Rash, Saka, Martinelli, Maddison, Mbuemo
    Haaland, Watkins (Pedro)

0.5 ITB, 2FT's but not really sure what transfer to make.
Gabriel should become trippier but don't need to now nor do I have cash.
Rash can stay for NF this week.
Watkins to Jackson is possible although he just scored a hatrick midweek.
Pedro needs a downgrade elsewhere to get funds for an upgrade.
Maddison can be covered by Pedro this week if out.

Really stumped with what to do

Any idea's what I could do with this lot? 1FT & 0.4 itb.

    Onana, Turner
    Gvardiol, Estu, Gabriel, Udogie, Bell
    Salah, Ode, Martinelli, Richarlison, Garnacho
    Haaland, Alvarez, Pedro

I don't feel it needs a wildcard but appreciate any suggestions. My gut is telling me Martinelli > Mbuemo but seems silly to take Martinelli out before a potential haul.

Mostly we are talking about such fine margins. moving Salah next week will put you off Arsenal and ManU assets. It might be an idea now or GW5. For who, I have no idea; just feels awkward moving a good asset to another good asset at a cost of 4 points if looked at logically.

  10. Harold99

After this Shaw injury I was looking at potential replacements. Are many people really looking at bringing in Trippier GW5/6? Not amazing stats so far but he keeps playing 90 and Newcastle have a massive fixture swing around GW6.

Yep I would go for Jackson over Wissa as you own Mbeumo

Not sure about Mitoma, Brighton haven't got the best fixtures in the world coming up - prefer going for a 3-4-3 formation and going for the likes of Watkins

I've gone for Ode instead of Saka on WC as well - looks like he's on pens, and also a differential to attempt and claw back some OR rank

      Who to bench?

      A) Jota (new) – Think NEW-LIV will be tight. Jota could easily start from bench and get 30 mins.
      B) Richarlison (bou) – He's looked so poor. Can't wait to ship him. Would be typical for him to get his annual goal if I bench tho.
      C) Mbeumo (CRY) – Safest pick of the bunch.
      D) J.Pedro (WHU) – Encio injury makes him likely to start and Brighton are scoring for fun.

      Thanks

Keeping Maddison seems reasonable since he's apparently training, but jumping the gun to replace him is tempting since there are some good options this week.

Selling Pedro seems reasonable since he didn't start and I can't rely on him to rotate with Awoniyi, but keeping him until it's Isak or Jesus time (or Jackson, once I've sold a Chelsea defender) is tempting since they could be even better options (though I can't afford Jesus with a direct transfer).

I’m on wildcard as well and want trippier too. If you are going to bring him in to your line up after his fixtures improve then how about a cheaper defender instead of Saliba (maybe Colwill / gusto / play Henry) and use the money elsewhere.

I’d be tempted for turner instead of areola. Nottingham have had a good defence and GW 8 they have a better fixture than West Ham when Man City are away at arsenal, which is realistically the only time you might play your 4.0 GK

        My current draft is
        Ederson, turner
        Estup, chilwell, trippier, gusto, pinnock
        Saka, odegaard, Bruno, mbeumo, foden
        Haaland, Jackson, semenyo / archer

I’m not sure about Bruno but has put up good numbers and is on pens. Still might go for Diaz though

    • Zarraga

        Pickford
        Chilwell - Estupinan - Gabriel
        Trossard - Saka - Rashford - Mbuemo
Watkins - Joao Pedro - Haaland

        Turner - Jota - Shaw - Kabore

I have 2 FT and my first choice was switching Watkins for Jackson and Trossard (as he's not playing) for probably Foden. Shaw's injury ruined my plans and now I want to sell him for Gvardiol and Trossard for Sterling as I want to at least double Chelsea for the next fixtures. Then obviously Gabriel moves to the bench and Josko jumps in to the first eleven.

        Thoughts?

Moving Pickford out this GW, but for whom?

I've got Martinez as a primary for points, Turner as a backup for budget (who also starts)
Consider a 5-10 position goalkeeper for a decent chance at points without breaking the bank? West Ham, Brighton, Newcastle maybe?
