Thems the breaks I suppose. I have to say the decision is pretty fair. I'm sure there are lots of horror FPL stories out there, but that's the variance associated with the game.

Took a - 4 to get Solanke and have 0 points to replace him as injuries and suspensions to my other players have all conveniently aligned in the same gameweek.

Not only the points lost but there were still 25mins left of the game plus injury time for him to possibly get another return against a poor team and a haul. As it is I'm getting zero while other c##ts are fluking points off the bench from Lascelles and Gordon.

FPL can get f**ked. Sick of being screwed over. At what point do we concede that FPL is a pointless game of luck. May as well just play Yahtzee.

Game got cancelled it is null and void.

Yet you want FPL to give you free points for a game that does not count in the sport FPL is based on?

No not what I have said at all. FPL have done the only possible correct thing. I'm complaining because yet again this season it has meant I have been screwed while many others have benefiited. Its a different scenario than a player being dropped or ill before the game and your sub has to come in. Solanke has played and scored legitimate points only for them to be removed because of a freak occurrence. Makes it much harder to take.

No. Exactly nothing. You have no clue of the dynamics of my squad. I had already taken a - 4 to remove Haaland and Cash (who seemingly is no longer a starter) and still had the suspended Trippier and Taylor in my squad. With no mention of Isak being injured in the presser, you think I should take a further - 4 to remove players I want moving forward to cover a highly unlikely scenario?

Yeah because of course thats were the skill is. Taking a - 8 to cover the eventually of a highly unlikely event. Don't be dumb. As it is I already had to take a - 4 to remove Haaland and Cash who it seems is no longer a starter as I whilst still being left with little cover with Taylor and Trippier both suspended. Isak then not even in the squad after no mention whatsover in the presser that he was injured.

        This

I took a hit for Solanke, and had Tripps and Taylor sitting suspended on my bench, but I did at least make sure I had a playing sub.
        Semenyo!
        Doh!

What's happened is the right call; it just happens that I'm on the wrong side of variance this time. No point stressing over it.

It was more just the comparison of luck. Nothing else. Yes he played and scored but how do you continue play from 60mins/Give his points and then he plays again (an additional game) what happens if solanke secures the golden boot over a player who played 1 less game. Would that be fair?

I don’t. If one gets injured in the warm up would managers who had them get an extra transfer? Do they get an extra transfer and then also Solanke is removed from their team and the other player (probably Haaland) is put back in like in a free hit? What about the price changes then?

In all seriousness, and I own Solanke (luckily have for a few gameweeks, but not the point), I’m not sure what others expected the result to be. It was pretty much either:

    (1) Game is held at another date but resumed from where it finished - FPL freeze the gameweek for now and add extra points when the game resumes? (If they had that option but may have been a save and put the remaining minutes in another gameweek)

    (2) Game is voided by Premier League and replayed in full - exact scenario which is happening here, FPL void the match as well.

This idea of another solution, where current owners keep points and the game is replayed later, means Bournemouth players would have an entire 65 minutes played more than every other player in the game, that wouldn’t make any sense at all.

It’s genuinely unfortunate but it’s exactly how it should be. Games have been abandoned before prior to starting for reasons such as covid, weather etc. and it was the same result whether players took hits or not. Similarly games have been abandoned mid game and the same result, full replay.

Think there needs to be some degree of level headedness and calm from those who’ve lost out from this scenario. I’ve lost out previously but that’s what happens sometimes when you’re playing a ***fantasy football game***. Take the rough with the smooth and move on.

I was thinking similar but opposite conclusion.

FPL is at the end of the day a game, which we play for fun. Why should a fantasy game care if some players play 60 mins extra in a season.
It's not completely tied to every rule of football (hence saved shots being assists not being recorded as assists by the league).
A game not starting vs actually being played for a significant amount of time is completely different in reality, players played on a pitch vs never got started.
In this scenario you'd think they'd just say "keep the points". People picked players and they played on a football pitch for near 60mins.
It goes against the "spirt" of FPL in my view and is a real downer of owners of Solanke in this case.

      1. @ocprodigy

Your argument for this is that it's a game, why not just give players points for whatever reason just because players want points?

It's designed to follow the league, the league has decided that the game doesn't count therefore FPL have mirrored that and said the game doesn't count. Anything beyond that would be incredibly inconsistent with everything else and wouldn't make sense whatsoever. It's unfortunate but it was the same when people (myself included) took mass hits for players who ended up not playing games and so on.

Besides that, at what stage would you suggest they count points? If the game had played 2 minutes, would that be the same? You'd be arbitrarily making up a rule and an amount of minutes to suit the fact that Solanke had scored within the time that happened before. If he was on a red card or so on there'd be none of this, which I think demonstrates the bias in owner's opinions tbh.

I'm not saying for "whatever reason", I'm saying because actual events happened in real life. Voiding them is a technical decision, if a player suffered an injury in the game he'd still have it afterwards

FPL is designed to be based on the league, but doesn't follow every rule in the league. There is no inconsistency, because this event never happened before to my memory.

I understand why FPL have done it, I don't have to agree with it, I just think it's against the spirt of the game

I do agree with you on how do you draw the line. There is no answer because there is no rule (which is why FPL probably took to the easy way out). This event now means there needs to be one (I expected the outcome based on the match not being played abandoned rule), even though I'm personally against it.

It's unfair on owners, it's unfair on those who took hits. The game is meant to for fun not for punishment. I just think surely there is a better way then taking people's points away, although finding a easy way to figure that out is not simple.

As you say on the red card piece, I'd agree they should stand as well. It's not solely about handing out points but perhaps counting "point based events". I wonder like if a player committed serious foul play or pushed a ref like di Canio would the league void the suspension (I don't think they would, but they'd void the game)

Still worth it to be able to get Darwin out of my team for Watkins, because Darwin gets nailed on blanks every week.

Have one for each point Solanke lost. Your choice if you include the removed BPS too or not.

I still don't understand how minutes played in an official Premier League game can be counted as null and void. Don't care about the Solanke points don't care about my rank or whether the arrow is green or red, just wishing the best for Lockyer and his family and friends. But this opens up a HUGE hole in the Premier League rules regarding abandonments and replays. I might understand restarting a game from the 65th minute, say 3 months after it's abandonment is weird so they did not go that route. So if a team is down on score during a game, a player can have a 'medical emergency' and regardless of the minutes played and the situation it rises, the game can be abandoned and replayed in full at a later date. I don't know what was the best course of action to take and will be happy to hear other peoples thoughts on how it could've been handled but in my honest opinion, current situation is a mess.

The medical emergency is nearly dying. No one is faling that. Lockyer will never play football again

it is a ridiculous decision. Pretty much every other league has instances where games were abandoned and then continued from the minute is was stopped at.

Erasing 65 minutes of a game is hilarious

This is pretty much how the rules have been applied in England for decades, and no-one has ever had a problem with it (even this week) apart from FPL players.

That's why the wording is ambiguous, so the league can make a decision on what to do based on the individual circumstances relating to the match in question.

It was abandoned and this didn’t count… what’s so hard to comprehend? If the weather got so bad during the game, it would’ve been the same.

If a team were to fake a serious medical emergency then it’d certainly go punished and probably mean it’s a forfeit (plus the rest of the punishment).

It’d probably be labelled - HeartAttackGate or somethings, like with deflategate and bloodgate in other sports.

Does anyone know if Edouard was mentioned in the Crystal Palace press conference today please? Team News not updated and Draft waiver deadline imminent.

      Edouard wasn't specificallymentioned, afaik.

Palace: Ward out for a while, Hodgson unsure whether he'll risk Eze from the start, Ayew back from a ban, Lerma recovering quicker than expected
